If you need a Kaspersky Antivirus activation code, check the purchase-confirmation email, the back of a retail activation card, the product box, or its included documentation. If Kaspersky is already activated, sign in to My Kaspersky and open Licenses or Subscriptions; the installed application may also offer Recover my activation codes in its Licensing window. A code normally contains 20 Latin letters and digits in four groups of five. You can add it to My Kaspersky or enter it in the application and select Activate. If none of those routes works, the seller that supplied the code or Kaspersky Technical Support is the correct recovery path.
Where can I find my Kaspersky activation code?
The best place to look depends on how you obtained the product and whether it has already been activated. Start with the original sales record, then check your My Kaspersky account and any device where the product is running.
Purchase or fulfillment email
For a digital purchase, search the email account used at checkout for the order-confirmation or fulfillment message. The activation code is commonly included in that message rather than in a separate account dashboard. Keep the email until the subscription ends, because it is also evidence of where the code came from if you need the seller to investigate a problem.

If you bought a card, turn it over and inspect the back. The code is printed on the card, sometimes beneath a scratch-off panel. Do not photograph or post the code publicly; anyone who obtains it may be able to redeem the entitlement before you do.

Product box and included documentation
For boxed antivirus, inspect the exterior packaging and every leaflet or quick-start document. Kaspersky identifies the box and included documentation as possible locations for the activation code. Check inserts that may have been separated from the disc or installation media.
My Kaspersky account
If the code was previously added to an account, or an activated installation was connected to one, sign in to My Kaspersky and open Licenses or Subscriptions. The subscription record may show the stored code or the entitlement associated with it. This is usually the most reusable route because the account can also provide the application download for another device covered by the entitlement.
The installed application
On a computer where the product is active, open the main application window and select the area labeled License, Licensing, or a subscription equivalent. If your version displays Recover my activation codes, follow that link. Older releases may use “license” while newer interfaces use “subscription”; the terminology does not by itself indicate a different product.

Kaspersky describes the code as a unique 20-character sequence of Latin letters and digits arranged in four groups of five, for example xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx. A representative pattern shown in Kaspersky’s activation guidance is A1BCD-EFG23-XXXXX-XXXXX. The letters and digits are not a password you create; they are issued with a specific subscription entitlement.
Type the characters exactly as supplied, including every group. If the seller’s message uses a different visual layout, do not assume it is valid merely because it has 20 characters. The activation servers, not the appearance alone, determine whether a code is genuine, unused, in the correct region, and compatible with the product you are activating.
Which recovery method should I use?
Choose the route that matches the purchase record and the state of your installation. The following comparison keeps the important conditions together.
Rank #2
| Situation | First place to check | What you need | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Digital purchase | Order-confirmation or fulfillment email | Access to the email account used for the order | The message may have been sent by the seller rather than stored in My Kaspersky. |
| Unused retail card | Back of the activation card | Physical card and any scratch-off covering | Do not disclose the code; regional and device-count terms still apply. |
| Boxed product | Box and included documentation | Original packaging and inserts | The code may be on a leaflet rather than the disc or outer box. |
| Product already activated and connected | My Kaspersky, under Licenses or Subscriptions | My Kaspersky sign-in | The account must be the one associated with the activated installation. |
| Product already activated but not connected to an account | Installed app’s Licensing window | Access to the active device | You may need to connect the installation to a newly created My Kaspersky account. |
| No account and no active device | Original seller or Kaspersky Technical Support | Order details, card, receipt, or other proof of purchase | Support cannot be expected to reconstruct an unverified purchase without identifying information. |
How do I recover a code from My Kaspersky?
Use My Kaspersky when the code was added previously or an active installation was linked to your account. The account route can preserve the subscription record and make the application available for another protected device under the same entitlement.
- Open My Kaspersky and sign in. If the product is already active on a device but you have never created an account, create one first.
- Open Licenses or Subscriptions. Interface wording varies as Kaspersky transitions from “license” to “subscription.”
- Locate the relevant product record. Look for the activation code, license details, expiration information, or a link to manage the subscription.
- If the code is present, copy it carefully or use the account’s option to add the subscription to another supported device.
- If the account shows a subscription but no visible code, use the product-management and download controls associated with that record. The entitlement may be managed by the account even when the original code is not displayed in the same view.
If you have more than one subscription, match the record to the product name, device allowance, and expiration date shown in the account. Do not activate a second code simply because the first record is hard to recognize; doing so can start a separate subscription or consume an unused entitlement.
How do I recover a code from an installed Kaspersky application?
An active installation can help even when the original email or card is missing. The exact labels vary by product and operating system, but the route is the product’s licensing screen.
- Open the Kaspersky application’s main window.
- Select License, Licensing, or the subscription-status area.
- Choose Recover my activation codes if that link appears.
- Follow the sign-in or account-connection prompts. If the app is not linked to My Kaspersky, connect it to an existing account or create a new one.
- Return to the licensing view and confirm that the subscription record, active key, expiration date and time, and days remaining are shown.
Connecting an already activated app to a new My Kaspersky account is the recovery step when no account was used at the original activation. Kaspersky’s guidance says the license information can be transmitted to that account, giving you a record to use for future downloads and device management.
How do I enter and activate a Kaspersky code?
You can redeem the code in My Kaspersky or directly in the installed application. Use the account method for a card or an unused code; use the in-app method when the product is already installed and you want to attach the entitlement to that installation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsRedeem an unused code in My Kaspersky
- Sign in to My Kaspersky.
- Find the field labeled Already have an activation code?
- Enter the 20-character code in its four groups. Preserve the characters exactly as printed; if the form accepts or inserts hyphens automatically, follow its formatting.
- Click Add.
- Open the subscription that appears, review its product and entitlement details, then download the application and install it on the device you intend to protect.
Adding the code to the account creates the subscription record. For a code-based subscription, the expiration countdown starts when the code is activated on the first device, so avoid activating it on a test computer if you are not ready to begin the term.
Activate from the application
- Open the product’s main window and enter the Licensing window.
- Choose the control for entering an activation code or adding a license.
- Type the code and select Activate.
- Allow the application to contact Kaspersky’s activation servers and verify the code.
- When verification succeeds, select Finish if that button is shown.
Kaspersky’s Mac activation instructions describe this server verification step as the point at which the application validates the code and adds the license key. After completion, return to the licensing view rather than relying only on a success message; the view should show the active subscription or key and its remaining term.
What happens after activation?
Activation associates the code with a subscription record and the first device on which the code is used. My Kaspersky stores the subscription information, allowing the account to download the application for another protected device when the entitlement includes additional devices.
The licensing view can show the subscription status, active key, expiration date and time, and days remaining. Check those fields immediately after activation, especially if you own multiple products or bought a multi-device package. The number of devices and the subscription length are determined by the entitlement shown where the code was received; they are not guaranteed by the 20-character format.
Keep the original email, card, or receipt even after the code appears in your account. It identifies the seller and purchase context, which can matter if a code is rejected, a regional restriction is reported, or an account record does not match what you bought.
Why does Kaspersky call it a license in one place and a subscription in another?
Kaspersky is moving toward the term “subscription” in some interfaces, while older screens and instructions may still say “license.” In practice, both labels can refer to the entitlement that controls activation, expiration, and device coverage.
When instructions say to open License information, Show Details, or the Licensing section, look for the equivalent subscription-details control in your version. For renewal, Kaspersky’s documented flow is to open that area, copy the license key, and enter it in Kaspersky’s renewal center. The exact button text can differ between releases and operating systems.

What should I do if the code will not activate?
First determine whether the failure is caused by the code, the purchase terms, or the account and application context. Do not repeatedly submit a code or publish it while troubleshooting.
Check the country or region
Kaspersky warns that activation can be restricted to the country where the purchaser’s personal details were registered. Review the email, message, card leaflet, or other material supplied with the code for a regional condition. A code bought for one market may be refused when the account or purchaser details indicate another.
Confirm the entitlement
Check the subscription length and device count shown in the purchase information. A code can be valid but unavailable for the product edition, number of devices, or term you are trying to use. If an account already contains a subscription, compare the product name and expiration details before adding another code.
Review the characters
Re-enter the code from the original source rather than from a screenshot or handwritten copy. Pay particular attention to characters that look alike and to missing or duplicated groups. Use the application’s licensing screen or My Kaspersky’s dedicated code field, not a general password field.
Check whether it was already used
If the code came from a card or email but My Kaspersky already shows the subscription, manage the existing record instead of trying to redeem the code again. An already activated code may be recoverable through the account or the active installation.
Escalate to the right party
If Kaspersky cannot verify the code, contact the vendor that supplied it or Kaspersky Technical Support. Provide the order details and proof of purchase through the support channel; never include the full code in a public forum, social post, or screenshot. The seller is particularly important when the code was delivered digitally and the purchase record is missing from your Kaspersky account.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can I recover the code without an account or an activated device?
There is no account-based recovery path when the code was never added to My Kaspersky and no installation is currently activated. In that situation, return to the original seller with the order number, email address used for purchase, card, box, or receipt. If the seller cannot resolve it, contact Kaspersky Technical Support with the same purchase evidence.
Support and sellers may need to verify ownership before discussing an activation code. This protects unused codes from being claimed by someone who merely found a photograph or copied a serial number. Keep communications private and redact unrelated payment information while leaving enough detail to identify the transaction.
How can I avoid losing the code again?
- Save the fulfillment email in a folder that is backed up, and do not delete it when the product is installed.
- Photograph or scan a retail card for your private records only, then store the image in an encrypted or access-controlled location.
- Connect an active installation to My Kaspersky so the subscription is associated with an account you control.
- Record the purchase seller, product name, device allowance, and expiration date alongside the code, without sharing that record publicly.
- Before replacing a computer, verify that the subscription appears in My Kaspersky and that you can sign in.
- When renewing, use the product’s Licensing or subscription-details view to identify the current key and follow Kaspersky’s renewal instructions rather than guessing which code is active.
What is the quickest checklist for a lost Kaspersky code?
- Search the purchase or fulfillment email.
- Inspect the back of the activation card, box, and included documentation.
- Sign in to My Kaspersky and open Licenses or Subscriptions.
- On an active device, open the Licensing window and select Recover my activation codes when available.
- If the app is active but unlinked, connect it to a new or existing My Kaspersky account.
- Compare the region, product, term, and device allowance with the purchase details.
- Contact the supplying seller or Kaspersky Technical Support if no private recovery route remains.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Kaspersky activation code expire before I use it?
The documented guidance establishes when the term starts for a code-based subscription: the countdown begins when the code is activated on the first device. It does not state a universal pre-activation shelf life, so check the terms supplied by the seller or printed with the code before assuming an unused code remains valid indefinitely.

Will reinstalling Kaspersky remove my activation code?
The code is not necessarily lost when the application is removed. If the subscription was added to My Kaspersky, sign in to that account after reinstalling and use the stored subscription record; if it was never associated with an account, keep the original email, card, or receipt because the installation alone may not recreate the purchase record.
Can a 20-character string be trusted as a genuine Kaspersky code?
No. The four groups of five characters describe the expected format, but only Kaspersky’s activation service can verify authenticity, regional eligibility, entitlement, and whether the code has already been used. Treat an unexpected code from an unknown seller as unverified until the official activation process accepts it.
What information should I give support when my code is rejected?
Give the seller or Kaspersky Technical Support the purchase channel, order or receipt details, the product name, and the country associated with the purchase. Share the full activation code only through the provider’s private support process, never in a public post or an image visible to others.
