Choose the JBL Flip 7 if you want the more compact speaker to carry; choose the JBL Charge 6 if longer advertised playback and charging another device from the speaker matter more. JBL lists both models with IP68 protection and Auracast connectivity. The comparison below is for these current generations, not every Flip and Charge model.

Choose the Flip 7 if compact carry is the priority
At JBL’s listed dimensions of 7.2 × 2.7 × 2.8 inches, the Flip 7 is smaller than the Charge 6. That makes it the clearer fit when you want to save space in a bag or carry a speaker that takes up less room. These dimensions establish the size difference; they do not by themselves establish a weight comparison.
Choose the Charge 6 for longer advertised playback and device charging
JBL advertises up to 24 hours of playback for the Charge 6, with up to 4 additional hours using Playtime Boost. For the Flip 7, JBL advertises up to 14 hours plus up to 2 hours with Playtime Boost. The Charge 6 is the stronger fit if those longer stated runtimes suit your plans, but actual playback depends on use and the figures should not be treated as guaranteed durations.

Both models have Auracast and JBL-listed IP68 protection
Auracast appears for both speakers in JBL’s comparison listings, so it does not distinguish the Flip 7 from the Charge 6. JBL’s feature listing is not a basis for assuming universal compatibility with every JBL speaker generation.
JBL describes both models as IP68-certified. In its March 13, 2025 announcement, the company says the water-rating lab test involved submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes, and describes drop resistance for drops from up to 1 meter above a concrete floor. These are stated test conditions, not a guarantee against every liquid, exposure, or impact. See JBL’s launch announcement for those conditions.

The available specifications support a practical choice based on dimensions, advertised playback, charging, and shared features. They do not establish which speaker sounds better in independent listening tests. JBL’s launch announcement uses “bigger sound and deeper bass” in its headline, but that manufacturer wording is not a comparative listening result. If sound quality is your deciding factor, these specifications alone cannot identify a winner.
