Fitbit Air is worth considering if you want a lightweight, screenless tracker for everyday health and sleep metrics and are comfortable checking results in the Google Health app. It is a poorer fit if you want a wrist display, GPS without your phone, wider workout controls, or paid coaching without an ongoing membership. The US price starts at $99.99, but the three-month Premium trial renews automatically at $9.99 per month unless canceled. Prices and terms are Google’s US-market figures announced in 2026; check Google Store for your region.
What Fitbit Air does—and what it does not
Google describes Fitbit Air as a screenless fitness tracker. Its listed health and activity features include 24/7 heart-rate tracking, heart-rhythm monitoring with AFib alerts, blood oxygen (SpO2), resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep stages and duration, and activity tracking. You can start workouts in the app, while common activities may be detected automatically. Because there is no display, you view detailed metrics on your phone. Google’s May 7, 2026 announcement has the feature overview.
In a May 2026 hands-on review, Tom’s Guide reported that Air has no onboard GPS or altimeter, a 15-minute threshold for automatic workout recording, and a limited selection of activity modes. The reviewer noted that carrying a phone helps provide outdoor distance, pace and elevation information. These are review observations, not a guarantee that every user or workout will produce the same results. Read the Tom’s Guide review.
- Choose it for: low-profile, all-day wear; sleep and health tracking; and a quieter experience without a watch screen.
- Look elsewhere if you need: glanceable stats or incoming-message notifications on your wrist, route tracking without a phone, or broader on-device workout controls.
Fitbit Air price and Google Health Premium costs
Google’s US launch announcement listed the standard tracker at $99.99 and the Special Edition at $129.99. Official accessory bands start at $34.99. The tracker offer includes a three-month Google Health Premium trial; the offer terms say it automatically renews at $9.99 per month afterward unless canceled. Eligibility and the offer end date apply. Google’s announcement and offer details are the reference for those launch terms.

Google separately lists Google Health Premium at $9.99 per month or $99 per year and says Premium is included with Google AI Pro and Ultra plans. These are Google’s 2026 US prices, not guaranteed prices in other countries or permanent rates. Google’s service announcement explains the membership.
Basic tracking does not require Premium. Google distinguishes the tracker’s core tracking from paid features such as Google Health Coach and some advanced or personalized insights. Consider whether those extras matter to you before treating the trial as part of the tracker’s long-term value. If you do not want the monthly membership, note the trial’s renewal date and cancel before it renews.

Battery life, phone compatibility, and setup
Google rates Fitbit Air for up to seven days of battery life. Google describes this as approximate: actual life can vary with use, settings, environment and battery age. Treat it as a maximum rating, not a promise that every charging interval will be a week. Google Store specifications provide the current device details.
Google lists Android 11 or later and iOS 16.4 or later as minimum compatible phone operating-system versions. Setup and syncing also require a Google Account, the Google Health app, Bluetooth LE, internet access and phone location permissions. These are Google’s stated requirements; check the current local product page before purchase in case support differs by region. Google Store product FAQ.

- Confirm your phone and account: Check that your phone meets Google’s stated OS minimum, and that you can use a Google Account and Google Health app. Allow Bluetooth LE, internet access and location permissions for syncing.
- Decide whether you will use paid features: Basic tracking is distinct from Premium features such as Coach and some advanced or personalized insights. Compare their value to the membership price after the included trial.
- Match the tracker to your workouts: If you need route tracking with no phone, a screen for workout controls, or a broad range of activity modes, compare GPS-equipped watches and other trackers before choosing Air.
- Check the trial terms: Confirm your eligibility and renewal date at checkout. Cancel before renewal if you do not want the monthly plan.
- Verify regional details: Google says feature availability varies. Check local pricing, supported features, warranty and seller; the prices above are US-market launch figures.
Health and medical limitations
Google says Fitbit Air is not intended for medical purposes. Sensor accuracy can be affected by physiology, device placement and movement, and Google says its sleep features are not intended to diagnose or treat conditions. Use the tracker for wellness information, not as a substitute for medical advice or diagnosis. Google’s product announcement states these limitations.
