The Ionmax plus Aire ION900PRO is a large smart air purifier with a listed 900 m³/h CADR, six treatment stages, app control, air-quality monitoring, four fan speeds and a 12-hour timer. Its headline coverage is 77 m² under ANSI/AHAM AC-1 2015 or 234 m² under NRCC-54013-2011, so those figures are not interchangeable promises for every room. Australian prices checked on 21 October 2026 ranged from A$799 to A$999, while a replacement filter was listed at A$300 by CHOICE. The purifier is specified for 220–240 V, 50 Hz (the manual says 240 V, 50 Hz), making voltage, plug, warranty territory and filter availability essential checks outside Australia. This review explains what is documented, what remains unverified, and who should consider it.
What is the Ionmax plus Aire ION900PRO?
The ION900PRO is a full-size smart air purifier from Ionmax plus. It combines mechanical filtration with activated carbon, titanium dioxide (TiO2), UV-C light and an ioniser. The manufacturer lists a 900 m³/h clean-air delivery rate (CADR), four fan speeds, app control, air-quality monitoring and a 12-hour timer.
It is physically substantial: the manufacturer lists dimensions of 691 × 370 × 396 mm and a weight of 14.2 kg. CHOICE lists the weight as 14.3 kg, a small specification difference that may reflect rounding or measurement convention. The manufacturer lists a two-year warranty; the distributor information available for this product says that warranty is covered in Australia.

This is not a compact bedroom unit. Its capacity and footprint are aimed at large rooms or open-plan areas, but the correct room-size expectation depends on the test method behind the number. The manufacturer and manual do not provide one universal room rating.

How much room can the ION900PRO actually cover?
The manual gives two different maximum room figures because it uses two different standards: 77 m² under ANSI/AHAM AC-1 2015 and 234 m² under NRCC-54013-2011. The manufacturer promotes the 234 m² figure. Treat the numbers as method-specific ratings, not as proof that the purifier will clean a 234 m² space to the same level in every layout or operating condition.
| Rating basis | Published room figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| ANSI/AHAM AC-1 2015 | 77 m² | A more conservative published figure for this model under the named AHAM method. |
| NRCC-54013-2011 | 234 m² | The larger figure promoted by the manufacturer; it is based on a different calculation method. |
Ceiling height, doors, partitions, outdoor-air leakage, occupancy and the fan setting all affect real-world air changes. An open room with high ceilings is a different task from several connected rooms with doors. If your priority is rapid particle reduction, use the 77 m² figure as the safer planning reference and regard the 234 m² value as a method-specific upper claim rather than a guarantee.
What does the 900 m³/h CADR mean?
CADR describes the volume of cleaned air delivered over time. The ION900PRO is listed at 900 m³/h, but the available product information does not state the test laboratory, fan speed, particle type or whether the figure is directly comparable with another purifier’s published CADR. Compare CADR only when the measurement basis is consistent.
A high CADR can shorten the time needed to circulate room air, provided the unit is positioned so its intake and outlet are unobstructed and operated at a setting that delivers that rate. It does not mean every pollutant is removed at the same efficiency, and it does not convert the purifier into a ventilation system. Fresh-air exchange, source control and ordinary cleaning remain separate parts of indoor-air management.
How does the six-stage filtration system work?
The manufacturer lists six stages. Their presence is documented, but the retrieved material does not independently verify health outcomes, room-level germ destruction or mould prevention. The manual’s performance wording is a manufacturer claim and should be read as such.
1. Pre-filter
The pre-filter is the first barrier and is intended to intercept larger dust, hair and fibres before they reach the finer media. Keeping this stage free of heavy dust helps preserve airflow through the rest of the filter assembly. The manufacturer’s published replacement interval for the complete filter is 6–12 months; it does not establish a separate replacement schedule for the pre-filter in the information available.
2. Antibacterial H13 HEPA filter
The unit uses an antibacterial H13 HEPA stage. The manual claims 99.97% capture of particles as small as 0.3 microns. That percentage and particle size are manufacturer claims; the sources available here do not provide an independent laboratory verification for this model. H13 describes a filter classification, but a classification alone does not specify how much air the complete appliance processes at each fan speed.

3. Activated carbon
Activated carbon is included to adsorb some gases and odours. Its useful life depends on the amount and type of contaminant, airflow and room conditions. A carbon layer should not be treated as universal protection against every volatile compound, smoke component or gas.
4. TiO2
Titanium dioxide is listed as a treatment stage. The available specifications do not quantify its removal rate, operating conditions or contribution relative to the other stages, so avoid assigning it a specific effectiveness percentage.
5. UV-C light
UV-C is present inside the purifier. The documents establish the feature, but they do not establish a dose, exposure time, airflow contact rate or independent evidence of pathogen elimination in an occupied room. It is therefore more accurate to describe UV-C as an included treatment feature than as a guaranteed sterilisation function.
6. Ioniser
An ioniser is also included. The available sources do not report the unit’s ion output, ozone emission measurement or independent health assessment. If you are sensitive to ionisation or have specific air-safety requirements, confirm the operating modes and emissions information with the seller or manufacturer before buying.
What does the manufacturer claim about particle capture?
The ION900PRO manual states that it captures 99.97% of microscopic allergens and germs as small as 0.3 microns and describes an ability to kill bacteria and prevent mould growth. Those are manufacturer statements, not independent findings established by the available review material. The claim should not be interpreted as a medical guarantee, a promise to remove all infectious aerosols, or proof that mould in a building will be prevented.
For a purchase decision, separate three questions: whether the appliance contains the stated filter stages, whether the filter media performs to a specified laboratory standard, and what reduction occurs in your room at a chosen fan speed. The first is documented for this model; the latter two are not independently quantified in the material available here.
Which controls and automatic features are documented?
The manufacturer lists app control, air-quality monitoring, four fan speeds and a 12-hour timer. The sources do not identify the app name, phone operating-system requirements, wireless band, account process or the exact sensor pollutants. Check those details before purchase if remote operation or automation is important.

How much does the Ionmax plus Aire ION900PRO cost?
Australian prices checked on 21 October 2026 varied by retailer. The manufacturer page and CHOICE showed A$999, a JB Hi-Fi search result showed A$899, and a Harvey Norman search result showed A$799. These are time-specific listings, not a permanent recommended price, and stock or promotions can change.
| Seller or source | Price checked 21 October 2026 | What to remember |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturer page | A$999 | Direct manufacturer listing at the date checked. |
| CHOICE | A$999 | Price shown on the review page at the date checked. |
| JB Hi-Fi search result | A$899 | Search-result price; verify the live listing before ordering. |
| Harvey Norman search result | A$799 | Search-result price; verify stock, delivery and warranty terms. |
No US-facing manufacturer product page was surfaced in the available material. A buyer outside Australia should not convert the Australian prices into a local landed cost without checking shipping, taxes, plug format and local support.
What will replacement filters cost?
CHOICE lists a replacement filter at A$300 and a replacement cost of A$720 per year. The manufacturer lists filter life as 6–12 months, so those figures do not line up as a simple one-filter-per-year schedule. The available CHOICE page does not explain how its annual figure was calculated.
Use the numbers as two separate budgeting signals: A$300 is the listed price for one replacement filter, while A$720 is CHOICE’s published annual replacement-cost estimate. Ask the retailer how many filters that annual estimate assumes, whether it includes shipping, and which usage pattern triggers replacement. Do not extrapolate a fixed annual schedule from the 6–12-month range without that clarification.
How should you check voltage, plug and warranty before buying?
The manufacturer specifies 220–240 V, 50 Hz, while the manual states 240 V, 50 Hz. That range suits many Australian installations but is not automatically compatible with 110–120 V countries. A plug adapter changes the physical connector; it does not change the appliance’s input voltage.
- Read the exact electrical label on the listing or appliance and confirm it matches your mains voltage and frequency.
- Confirm the supplied plug type and whether a compliant local cord is included.
- Ask in writing whether the two-year warranty is valid in your country; the distributor information specifically describes Australian coverage.
- Check that replacement filters can be shipped to your address and that the quoted part is for ION900PRO, not a different Aire model.
- Keep the invoice and seller details, because warranty handling may depend on the retailer and purchase territory.
These checks matter especially for imported stock. A lower sticker price can become poor value if the purifier requires a transformer, lacks local warranty service or has no practical filter supply.

How does the ION900PRO compare with the related ION1000PRO?
The manual identifies the Aire X ION1000PRO as a related but different, larger model. It is rated at 1,000 m³/h and 85–260 m² under the same two methods. Those figures do not make it a direct substitute or prove better performance for every room; dimensions, price, noise and filter costs for the ION1000PRO are not established in the available material.
| Model | Listed CADR | Published room figures | Relationship |
|---|---|---|---|
| ION900PRO | 900 m³/h | 77 m² (ANSI/AHAM AC-1 2015); 234 m² (NRCC-54013-2011) | Model reviewed here. |
| ION1000PRO | 1,000 m³/h | 85 m² (ANSI/AHAM AC-1 2015); 260 m² (NRCC-54013-2011) | Different, larger Aire X model listed in the manual. |
Choose between them only after comparing like-for-like CADR testing, room methodology, replacement-filter price and interval, noise, power, warranty and physical dimensions. A larger headline rating is not enough by itself.

What does the independent review establish?
CHOICE has a review page for the exact ION900PRO and lists the two-year warranty, 77–234 m² claimed room size, 14.3 kg weight, A$300 replacement-filter pricing and A$720 annual replacement cost. Its detailed Expert Rating is member-only in the available page result, so no score or relative performance ranking can be stated here.
That distinction is important: the existence of a review page confirms that the exact model was assessed by the publication, but it does not reveal a publicly verifiable test score in the material available. Treat the product’s CADR, coverage, filtration and capture statements as manufacturer or published listing information unless an independently reported test result is specifically provided.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who is the ION900PRO suited to?
The model makes the most sense for an Australian buyer who needs a high-capacity unit, has room for a 691 mm-tall appliance, can obtain replacement filters and values app control or monitoring. The 900 m³/h listing gives it a stronger airflow specification than many small-room purifiers, while the two room-rating methods require careful interpretation.
- Consider it if: your room is large, the 77 m² ANSI/AHAM figure fits your planning, and you accept a 14.2–14.3 kg appliance.
- Consider it if: you want a six-stage design that includes carbon, UV-C and ionisation in addition to HEPA filtration.
- Pause if: you need independently verified pathogen or mould outcomes rather than manufacturer feature claims.
- Pause if: you live on 110–120 V, outside Australian warranty territory, or cannot confirm a reliable filter source.
- Budget carefully if: a A$300 filter and CHOICE’s A$720 annual estimate would materially affect ownership cost.
What are the main limitations and unknowns?
The largest limitation is evidence scope. The available material documents specifications and published claims but does not provide independent room-performance results, fan-speed noise measurements, sensor accuracy, ioniser emissions data, app compatibility details or a public CHOICE Expert Rating score.

Coverage is also easy to misread. The 234 m² figure is not the same test basis as 77 m², and neither number accounts for every room layout. Finally, Australian pricing and warranty information may not apply to imported units sold elsewhere.

What should you check before placing an order?
- Measure the room: calculate floor area and note open doorways, ceilings and partitions.
- Use the conservative rating: compare your space with 77 m² under ANSI/AHAM AC-1 2015 before considering the larger NRCC figure.
- Confirm electrical compatibility: verify 220–240 V or 240 V, 50 Hz, plug type and local electrical compliance.
- Price ownership: include the A$300 listed filter price, the 6–12-month manufacturer interval and the unexplained A$720 annual estimate from CHOICE.
- Verify support: obtain written confirmation of warranty geography and replacement-filter availability.
- Check operating requirements: ask for app compatibility, sensor details and noise figures if those affect your decision.
- Inspect the exact model number: make sure the listing says ION900PRO and does not substitute the larger ION1000PRO or another Aire variant.
What is the verdict on the Ionmax plus Aire ION900PRO?
The ION900PRO is a high-capacity Australian-market purifier with a credible feature set on paper: 900 m³/h CADR, six treatment stages, monitoring, app control and a two-year warranty listing. Its practical value depends less on the 234 m² headline than on whether the conservative 77 m² rating, electrical specification, filter cost and local support fit your situation.
Buyers should regard the 99.97% capture, UV-C, ioniser, bacterial and mould language as manufacturer claims rather than independently demonstrated health outcomes. For an Australian purchaser who can verify filters and warranty coverage, it may be a reasonable large-room option. For an overseas buyer, voltage and after-sales checks come first; without them, the headline CADR does not compensate for ownership risk.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the ION900PRO remove smoke and cooking odours?
Its activated-carbon stage is intended to adsorb some gases and odours, but the available specifications do not quantify performance for smoke or cooking emissions. Results will depend on carbon quantity, contaminant concentration, airflow and how quickly the source is removed.
Can I run the ION900PRO continuously?
The product information lists four fan speeds and a 12-hour timer, but it does not state a duty-cycle restriction. Continuous operation should follow the manual’s instructions, with clear airflow around the unit and filter replacement based on condition rather than an assumed calendar alone.
Is the 234 m² rating suitable for a house with several rooms?
Not necessarily. The 234 m² figure is tied to NRCC-54013-2011 and does not describe how quickly air will move between closed or separated rooms. For multiple rooms, consider each room’s airflow path and use the 77 m² ANSI/AHAM figure as the more conservative planning reference.
What information should I request from a seller outside Australia?
Ask for the appliance’s exact input-voltage label, plug type, local warranty terms, filter part number and a source for replacement filters. Also request confirmation that the listing is the ION900PRO, because the related ION1000PRO is a different model.
