Watch Demon Slayer in this order: Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc (episodes 1–26), then either the Mugen Train film or its seven-episode TV arc, followed by Entertainment District (11 episodes), Swordsmith Village (11), Hashira Training (eight), and finally Infinity Castle Part 1. The anime’s release order and story chronology are effectively identical. Choose only one version of Mugen Train on a first watch; the TV version adds material, while the film is the shorter route.
The correct Demon Slayer watch order
The arc names are more reliable than platform season numbers. Follow this sequence:
- Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc — season 1, episodes 1–26.
- Mugen Train — choose the feature film or the seven-episode TV Mugen Train Arc.
- Entertainment District Arc — 11 episodes.
- Swordsmith Village Arc — 11 episodes.
- Hashira Training Arc — eight episodes.
- Infinity Castle Part 1 — the first film in the concluding trilogy.
This is both the release sequence and the in-universe chronological sequence for the anime material. There is no separate “prequel order” that should be inserted between these arcs.

1. Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc
Start with all 26 episodes of the first TV season. This introduces Tanjiro, Nezuko, the Demon Slayer Corps and the rules that govern the conflict. Do not begin with Mugen Train: the train story follows the events of these episodes and assumes you have met the principal characters.

2. Mugen Train
After episode 26, select one of two canon presentations of the same central story. The 2020 feature film is the compact option. The seven-episode TV version retells that story and adds material, including a new opening episode, so it is the more expansive choice for a first-time viewer. Watching both is optional but repeats the main events.
3. Entertainment District Arc
Continue with all 11 episodes of Entertainment District. This arc follows directly from the train story and should not be moved ahead of Mugen Train, regardless of whether you watched the film or television version.
4. Swordsmith Village Arc
Watch the 11 episodes of Swordsmith Village next. A world-tour compilation called To the Swordsmith Village is not an additional chapter to place before it when the complete TV arc is available; it summarizes earlier material and previews this arc.
5. Hashira Training Arc
The eight-episode Hashira Training season follows Swordsmith Village. Its purpose and position are easiest to understand when the preceding arcs have been watched in full. The compilation screening To the Hashira Training likewise summarizes existing material and previews the season rather than replacing it.
6. Infinity Castle Part 1
Infinity Castle Part 1 is the canon continuation after Hashira Training and the opening film of a planned concluding trilogy. It opened in Japan on July 18, 2025. Treat it as the next required story installment once you finish the eight TV episodes. Release dates and availability outside Japan can differ, so use an official local listing rather than assuming a Japanese date is a date for your country.
Release chronology and episode totals
The official Japanese chronology places the anime releases in the same order as the story. The timeline is:

- 2020: The Mugen Train feature film opens.
- 2021–2022: The seven-episode TV Mugen Train Arc and the 11-episode Entertainment District Arc air.
- 2023: The 11-episode Swordsmith Village Arc airs.
- 2024: The eight-episode Hashira Training Arc airs.
- 2025: Infinity Castle Part 1 opens in Japan on July 18 as the first film of the concluding trilogy.
The completed TV material before Infinity Castle totals 63 episodes: 26 from the first season, seven from the TV Mugen Train presentation, 11 from Entertainment District, 11 from Swordsmith Village and eight from Hashira Training. The film version of Mugen Train is an alternative to those seven TV episodes, not an extra seven episodes to add to the total.
Mugen Train film or TV arc: which should you watch?
Both versions are canon and cover the same core continuation after season 1. Your choice affects pacing and how much additional television material you see, not the basic story order.

If you have not started the series
Watch season 1 first, then choose either the movie or the TV arc. The TV version is the sensible default if you value its added material; the film is the sensible default if you want a shorter commitment. There is no need to watch one version to “unlock” the other.
If you already watched the movie
You can move straight to Entertainment District. The TV arc’s extra material is available as an optional revisit, but it is not required to understand the later arcs.
If you already watched the TV arc
Continue to Entertainment District. The feature film is an alternative presentation, not a missing sequel.

If the complete TV seasons are available, both screenings are optional. Watching a compilation and then its full season creates deliberate overlap, not a different chronological route. They are useful for viewers who want a theatrical recap or preview, but they are not required steps in a first-time watch.
What comes after Hashira Training?
Infinity Castle Part 1 follows Hashira Training. It is not another recap movie and should not be placed earlier in the sequence. The film begins the concluding trilogy, so viewers should expect the story to continue across subsequent films rather than conclude every plot thread in Part 1.
The Japanese release date—July 18, 2025—is not a universal streaming or cinema date. A local theatrical, digital or physical release may occur later or use different scheduling. Check the official franchise announcement pages and your country’s licensed listings for the current status. Do not substitute a compilation screening for Infinity Castle; they serve different purposes.
Finding the right season on a streaming service
Completed episodes are reported as available on Crunchyroll and Netflix depending on region. Licensing changes, so a title available in one country may be absent or arranged differently in another. Verify the listing in your account before planning a marathon.
Why Netflix may show five seasons
Some Netflix catalogs divide the material into five seasons even though the franchise is more clearly organized by arc. Those platform labels can reflect packaging rather than a different story order. Identify each entry by its arc name:
- Unwavering Resolve
- Mugen Train
- Entertainment District
- Swordsmith Village
- Hashira Training
If a platform’s season number conflicts with an arc title, use the arc title and episode count. The five-season presentation generally refers to the completed TV arcs, not to five unrelated storylines.

When an arc is missing
A missing listing usually indicates regional licensing, a temporary catalog change or a separate entry under a movie tab. Search by the full arc name rather than relying on a generic “Demon Slayer” result. The official U.S. portal provides navigation for the major arcs, both Mugen Train formats, Infinity Castle and a Blu-ray section, which can help confirm the intended titles.

Neither format changes the recommendation to choose one Mugen Train presentation and skip the two recap screenings when you already have the full TV arcs.
A spoiler-safe first-watch procedure
- Write down the arc sequence before starting: Unwavering Resolve → Mugen Train → Entertainment District → Swordsmith Village → Hashira Training → Infinity Castle Part 1.
- Finish episodes 1–26 of Unwavering Resolve. Do not switch to a movie after an arbitrary earlier episode.
- Select one Mugen Train format: the film for the shorter route, or all seven TV episodes for the added material.
- Watch Entertainment District’s 11 episodes without inserting a compilation movie.
- Watch all 11 Swordsmith Village episodes. Treat To the Swordsmith Village as optional recap content only.
- Watch all eight Hashira Training episodes. Treat To the Hashira Training as optional recap content only.
- Continue with Infinity Castle Part 1 when it is legally available in your region. Confirm the local release listing because the Japanese opening date does not establish an international date.
Common watch-order mistakes and fixes
Starting with Mugen Train
Problem: The train film is easy to find as a prominent listing, but it assumes the first season has already established the characters.
Fix: Complete episodes 1–26 first.
Watching both Mugen Train versions by accident
Problem: The film and TV arc appear as separate entries, making both look mandatory.
Fix: Pick one for the initial run. The TV version’s extra material is a reason to prefer it, not a requirement to watch the film as well.

Counting recap movies as new seasons
Problem: World-tour titles can appear beside the seasons in a theater or streaming catalog.
Fix: Check whether the title says To the Swordsmith Village or To the Hashira Training. Those are summaries and previews; the complete TV arcs remain the main viewing entries.
Following platform season numbers blindly
Problem: One service may display five seasons while another uses arc names, specials or film tabs.

Assuming Infinity Castle is already available everywhere
Problem: The film opened in Japan on July 18, 2025, but international theatrical, digital and physical schedules can differ.
Fix: Check an official local announcement or licensed catalog. Until your region has access, finish Hashira Training and stop there rather than replacing the film with a recap.
