Start on the platform where the livestream aired. Open the creator’s channel or profile and check Videos, Live, Past broadcasts, Archives, or VODs. A stream that ended moments ago may still be processing, so refresh after a few minutes. If it is missing, check for a second recording, a privacy change, deletion, copyright action, or an expired retention window. Then search the creator’s exact name, event title, and date on the same platform, YouTube, and the wider web. Choose the creator’s own upload or an official export, and verify its duration and start and end points before treating it as the full stream.
The fastest way to find a replay
- Return to the service that hosted the live broadcast and open the creator’s channel or profile.
- Select the dedicated Videos, Live, Past broadcasts, Archives, or VODs area instead of relying on the home feed.
- If the broadcast ended recently, wait several minutes, refresh, and reopen the channel. Longer recordings can take substantially longer to process.
- Open the longest recording from the broadcast date. Check its duration, beginning, ending, and any chapters or reconnect notes.
- If nothing appears, search
creator name + event title + date. Repeat the search on YouTube and a general web search, using the game, guest, venue, or other distinctive terms. - Prefer the creator’s own upload or an official export. A short clip, highlight, or recap is not evidence that the complete VOD is available.
Save the URL once you find the right recording. A replay can later become private, expire, or be replaced by a multi-part upload. If you are looking for a particular moment, note its approximate live time as well as the stream date; that makes it easier to identify the correct part when a disconnect produced several files.

These windows are not guarantees that every stream will remain visible for the entire period. A creator can remove a recording earlier, change its visibility, or fail to save it in the first place. Conversely, an official export may remain available after the native platform copy has expired.
How to find a Twitch VOD
For viewers
Open the streamer’s channel and choose Videos. Past broadcasts are listed separately from clips and highlights. Sort through recordings from the date of the event and open the one with the expected length. If a stream stopped and restarted, inspect every recording from that date rather than assuming the first item is complete.

Twitch’s own description is useful when interpreting the label: “Past Broadcasts, commonly referred to as VODs, is a recording of a past live stream that is saved and available for viewers to watch.” The key word is saved; a live broadcast does not automatically mean a permanent replay exists.
Why a Twitch broadcast may not exist
Twitch defines a past broadcast, commonly called a VOD, as a saved recording of a past live stream. The creator must have enabled past-broadcast storage before going live. If storage was disabled, the recording was deleted, or its retention period ended, Twitch says the content no longer exists on its servers and Support cannot recover it. A vertical or 2K rendition can disappear after seven days even when the horizontal or 1080p version remains under the account’s normal retention period.
If you see a short vertical version but expected a full landscape stream, check the channel’s other video entries. Different renditions can have different expiry dates, so the remaining horizontal recording may be the one that contains the complete event.
For your own Twitch account
Open Video Producer to inspect, download, or manage saved broadcasts. Download an important recording before the account’s retention period ends, or export it directly to YouTube. A local file is the dependable copy when the platform window is short. Enable past-broadcast storage before the next broadcast; turning it on after the stream cannot recreate a recording that was never saved.
How to find a YouTube Live replay
Viewer route
Open the creator’s channel, select the Live tab, and choose the archived stream. A channel search can miss a replay when the owner changed it to unlisted or private, so use a direct link from the creator’s community post, description, or social account when one exists.

When several uploads have similar titles, compare dates, thumbnails, runtime, and the opening image. A premiere, highlights package, or short clip may appear beside the archive but is not the same recording.
Capture limit and visibility
YouTube’s current help guidance says encoder, webcam, and mobile streams shorter than 12 hours can be archived automatically. If a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. The archive can be public, unlisted, private, or deleted; those states explain why a channel may appear to have no replay even though the creator still has the file.

An unlisted video generally requires its direct link, while a private video requires the owner to grant access. A missing result therefore does not prove that no archive exists; it may only indicate that it is not publicly discoverable.
Owner controls
For a channel owner, the management path is YouTube Studio → Content → Live. From there, the owner can change visibility or delete the archive. YouTube recommends a local recording as a backup because capture and later availability are not guaranteed for very long streams.
How to find a Kick VOD
Viewer route
Open the channel and select Videos. Kick says a completed livestream is automatically saved as a VOD. If it is not visible immediately, wait, refresh, and check again rather than concluding that the stream was lost.

Processing and split recordings
Kick’s guidance indicates that shorter streams usually process within minutes, while longer streams can take about an hour. A reconnect can create multiple VODs from what viewers experienced as one broadcast. Check all recordings dated the same day and play the transitions to determine whether they form one continuous event. The first file may end abruptly at a network failure and the next may begin with a new countdown or technical explanation.

Kick’s May 21, 2026 Help Center guidance allows up to 30 days for verified channels and 7 days for non-verified channels. Once a VOD expires, Kick says it cannot be recovered, so a creator who wants a permanent archive must download it before the applicable deadline. If you are requesting a recording from a creator, do so promptly rather than waiting until the final day.
How to find a Facebook Live replay
Open the broadcaster’s Page or profile and look in its video or live-video area. Meta announced on February 18, 2025 that new live broadcast videos beginning February 19, 2025 could be replayed, downloaded, or shared for 30 days and would then be automatically removed. That policy means a Page can remain active while an older live post disappears. If the 30-day period has passed, look for a copy the broadcaster exported to another official channel.
Check the original post date, not merely the date you discovered it. The 30-day rule applies to affected new broadcasts, while older posts were subject to the policy in force when they were posted.
How to find a TikTok LIVE replay
Visit the creator’s profile and check the LIVE or replay area. TikTok’s help guidance says that after a LIVE ends, the creator can download, clip, or delete the replay. Viewer access therefore depends on the creator keeping it available and on TikTok’s account and regional controls. When no replay is visible, search the creator’s other official platforms for a full exported recording rather than assuming a short TikTok clip represents the entire event.

What to do when the replay is missing
- Allow processing time. Wait several minutes, refresh, and reopen the channel. For a long Kick stream, allow as much as about an hour.
- Use the archive tab. Check Videos, Live, or the platform’s equivalent instead of the profile’s home feed, where clips may be prioritized.
- Search with exact identifiers. Combine the creator handle, event title, game or topic, guest name, and broadcast date. Try alternate spellings and the creator’s display name.
- Inspect the same date for additional VODs. Disconnects, reconnects, moderation actions, or platform capture behavior can produce a second recording.
- Consider visibility changes. The owner may have switched the replay to unlisted or private, removed it, or restricted it by region or account status.
- Check retention and capture rules. Twitch may never have saved the stream if storage was off; YouTube may not have captured a stream over 12 hours; Kick and Facebook remove replays after their stated windows.
- Look for an official export. Search the creator’s YouTube channel, website, or other verified profile for the event title and date. Treat unofficial reposts cautiously, particularly when music, sports, or other copyrighted material is involved.
If a search finds several similarly named uploads, add the exact date in quotation marks, the guest’s name, or a distinctive segment title. Search both the creator’s handle and display name because a renamed account may not match the original URL. A creator’s community post, schedule page, or social announcement can also provide a direct unlisted link.
How to verify that a recording is the full VOD
A title such as “full stream” is not enough. Use this checklist before settling in:
- Compare the video’s duration with the announced or observed live runtime.
- Watch the first few minutes to confirm that it begins near the real start rather than at a highlight or post-show segment.
- Jump near the end and verify that the closing portion is present.
- Check the description for chapters, a reconnect note, a missing-segment warning, or a statement that the upload is part one of several.
- Search the same date for a second VOD and compare the final timestamp of the first with the opening timestamp of the next.
- Remember that a platform archive can differ from the live event because of dropped segments, privacy edits, copyright removals, or capture limits.
Do not judge completeness solely by file size or resolution. A high-resolution highlight can be shorter than a lower-resolution archive. Chapters are especially useful: they reveal whether the upload starts with a pre-show, skips a technical interruption, or ends before the closing segment.

Do not assume it can. Twitch states that a VOD that was never saved or has passed its retention period no longer exists on its servers and cannot be recovered by Support. Kick likewise says expired VODs cannot be recovered. A YouTube archive may still exist privately for the owner, but viewers cannot access it unless the owner changes visibility or supplies a copy. Facebook’s announced 30-day removal is automatic for the affected new broadcasts, and TikTok replays disappear from viewer view when the creator deletes them or access is otherwise restricted.

How creators can preserve a livestream permanently
- Record locally while streaming. A local recording protects against failed platform capture, a stream longer than a platform’s limit, and later deletion.
- Check archive settings before going live. On Twitch, past-broadcast storage must be enabled before the broadcast begins.
- Download promptly. Twitch and Kick apply short, account-dependent retention windows; Facebook’s affected new broadcasts have a 30-day window.
- Export to an official secondary channel. Twitch supports direct export to YouTube, and a creator can publish a preserved copy on an official channel where viewers can find it later.
- Keep parts clearly labeled. If a disconnect creates multiple files, number them and include the original date, start time, and continuation point in each title or description.
- Tell viewers where the archive moved. A pinned post or description linking to the official full recording prevents viewers from mistaking a highlight for the complete event.
For important broadcasts, preserve the original file as well as the public upload. Platform processing can remove sections for copyright or privacy reasons, while the local master lets the creator prepare a corrected export. Record the broadcast date, start time, platform, and part numbers in the file metadata or description so viewers can reconstruct a split stream.

What if the VOD was deleted or expired?
A deleted, never-saved, or expired native VOD may be unrecoverable. Twitch says Support cannot recover a recording that was never saved or has passed retention, and Kick says expired VODs cannot be recovered. Look for the creator’s official export, secondary upload, or rights-cleared copy instead.
