Use Muse Image in Meta AI by describing an image, choosing a suggested preset, or uploading a reference photo and requesting an edit. You can refine the result through follow-up messages and mark up a specific area to show what should change. Meta announced Muse Video separately as an early preview on July 7, 2026; that announcement said it was coming soon, but the official material available for this guide does not confirm a later general release or current user workflow.

What are Muse Image and Muse Video?
Meta uses the Muse name for two separate media-generation models. Muse Image creates and edits still images through Meta AI and selected Meta surfaces. Muse Video is a separate video model that Meta described as an early preview rather than a generally available feature.

Meta’s July 7, 2026 announcement describes Muse Image as its most advanced image-generation model at that time, saying it follows instructions faithfully, edits with precision, and composes from multiple references. How do I check whether Muse Image is available to me?
Availability depends on the Meta product surface, country, and account rollout. Do not assume that seeing a Muse example online means the feature is enabled for your account.
- Open the Meta AI app or visit meta.ai and sign in to the account you want to use.
- Look for an image-generation prompt, a Muse Image label, or a suggested image preset. The exact control can change as Meta updates the interface.
- If you are trying an integrated surface, check Instagram Stories or WhatsApp as well. Meta’s July announcement specified Instagram Stories in the United States and WhatsApp in limited countries, while also describing access through the Meta AI app and website.
- If no image control appears, update the app, confirm that you are signed into the intended account, and try the Meta AI app or website instead of assuming the feature is unavailable everywhere.
Meta’s announcement is a dated availability snapshot. Surface and geographic access can change, and the announcement does not provide a permanent country-by-country access list.
How do I make an image with Meta AI?
The basic workflow is conversational: tell Meta AI what to create, inspect the result, and issue a precise follow-up request. You do not need an API or programming knowledge for ordinary image creation.

- Open an image-capable Meta AI conversation. Use the Meta AI app or a supported web or messaging surface where Muse Image is enabled.
- Start with a preset or your own prompt. A suggested preset can provide a quick starting point; a written prompt gives you control over subject, setting, style, composition, lighting, and aspect ratio.
- Describe the desired result in ordinary language. State the main subject first, then add the environment, camera viewpoint, lighting, mood, color palette, and any text that must appear.
- Submit the request and inspect the image. Check the subject count, pose, perspective, typography, and small details before asking for changes.
- Refine in the same conversation. Use a follow-up such as “keep the composition, make the background a rainy city street, and change the jacket to dark green.” Muse Image is designed for multi-turn refinement, so you can modify one attribute without rewriting the entire request.
- Use markup for a localized change. Circle, sketch, or annotate the area that needs correction, then explain the replacement. For example: “Replace the circled sign with a blank wooden sign; leave the people and lighting unchanged.”
- Save or export the accepted version. Keep the conversation or prompt text if you may need to recreate a variation later.
Prompt structure that works well
A reliable prompt moves from the most important visual information to the least important:
Create [subject] in [setting], shown from [viewpoint]. Use [lighting and color], [style or medium], and [composition]. Include [required details] and avoid [unwanted details].
For example:
Create a documentary-style portrait of a baker in a small neighborhood bakery, three-quarter view, warm window light, natural skin texture, flour on the apron, shallow depth of field, and no visible brand logos.

Use concrete nouns and measurable relationships when possible. “Two cyclists riding side by side on a wet road at dawn” is easier to evaluate than “an energetic outdoor scene.” If a detail matters, state where it belongs: “place the red umbrella in the upper-right background.”

Yes. Muse Image uses the same model for generation and editing, so you can provide an existing image and describe the change you want rather than starting from a blank canvas.
- Attach the source photo in the Meta AI conversation using the image-upload control available on your surface.
- Describe one coherent edit. Specify what should change and what must remain unchanged. “Remove the traffic cone from the left side while preserving the shadows and pavement texture” is more actionable than “clean this up.”
- Mark the target area when location matters. Use the markup control to circle or sketch over the object, then state the replacement or removal.
- Review identity and geometry. Check faces, hands, text, reflections, and edges around the edited area. Ask for a correction instead of accepting a near miss.
- Continue refining in the same thread. Muse Image retains the conversational context, allowing successive edits without re-uploading and re-explaining the entire scene.
Using multiple references
Meta says Muse Image can reason over multiple references. You might provide a room photo plus a product image and ask for a coordinated redesign, or combine a person’s pose reference with a separate clothing reference. Identify each reference by role—such as “use the first image for the room layout and the second for the chair design”—to reduce ambiguity.
How can I get more precise results?
Precision comes from constraining the parts of the image that matter and separating changes into manageable turns.

When an output is close but not correct, change one variable at a time. Ask for a new camera angle and a new color scheme in separate turns so you can identify which instruction caused an unwanted change. For local corrections, markup is usually clearer than describing coordinates in prose.
What room-redesign workflow did Meta demonstrate?
Meta showed a room-redesign example in which a room photo is combined with products found on the web or Facebook Marketplace. In that example, the model places selected products into the room so a user can visualize a design direction.

Treat this as a feature example from Meta’s announcement, not a guarantee that the same product-search integration is enabled in every country, app, or account. If the product reference workflow is not visible, you can still upload a room photo and a product image manually and describe how the item should be positioned.
Is Muse Video available yet?
Meta’s July 7, 2026 announcement presented Muse Video as an early preview and said it was coming soon to creators and Meta AI. The official sources available for this guide do not confirm a later general release, supported countries, output length, menu path, or current access route.
For that reason, there is no reliable step-by-step Muse Video procedure to follow. Do not infer that a video-generation button, duration limit, or creator-only program exists simply because a preview was announced.

Meta described Muse Video as focusing on prompt adherence, visual fidelity, and temporal consistency. It also identified audio-video synchronization and physically accurate fast motion as areas still being developed. Those statements describe development goals and limitations in the preview announcement, not a guarantee about a currently accessible product.
When Meta publishes a current release notice, verify the exact surface, region, account requirements, clip limits, export options, and commercial-use terms before relying on the feature for production work.

Choose the consumer route for occasional creation and the API route when you are building a product or repeatable workflow.

How much does Muse Image cost?
Meta’s July 2026 consumer announcement said Muse Image was free for everyday creation and available through Meta subscription plans for people who wanted to create more. It did not establish a current subscription price, a fixed number of free generations, a recurring quota, or API rates.
Check the plan terms shown in your account before budgeting for a project. A promotional statement or an allowance that changes by country should not be treated as a universal price or limit.
How strong are Muse Image’s results?
Meta reported that Muse Image ranked No. 2 in Arena’s text-to-image, single-image-editing, and multi-image-editing rankings as of July 5, 2026. The figure is a human-preference Elo snapshot reported by Meta, tied to that date and those tasks; it is not evidence of a current ranking or an independently verified benchmark across every use case.
In practical terms, judge an output against your own requirements: prompt adherence, editing accuracy, preservation of faces and text, consistency across revisions, and the amount of manual cleanup required. A high preference ranking does not remove the need to inspect every generated image.

What changed about Instagram-account references?
Meta removed the ability to generate images by referencing public Instagram accounts after user feedback. Do not write instructions that depend on mentioning an Instagram handle to copy an account’s appearance or style.

If you need a visual reference, use an image you are permitted to upload and describe the characteristics you want. Confirm that you have permission to use personal photographs, copyrighted artwork, logos, or other supplied material.
How do I troubleshoot Muse Image problems?
The image option is missing
- Try both the Meta AI app and meta.ai, because a feature can appear on one surface before another.
- Check whether your country and account are included in the current rollout.
- Update the app and sign back into the intended account.
- Do not confuse the absence of Muse Image with Muse Video’s separate preview status.
The result ignores an important instruction
- Move the requirement to the beginning of the prompt and state it once in concrete terms.
- Reduce the number of simultaneous changes.
