Open your device’s emoji picker, then search or browse for an event-related emoji such as a party popper, balloon, or calendar. There is no single keyboard code for “event” emoji: the quickest method depends on your device.
Open the emoji picker on your device
Windows 10 and Windows 11
- Click where you want the emoji to appear.
- Press Windows key + . (period) to open the emoji panel.
- Search for a descriptive term, or browse and select an emoji.
- Choose Symbols if you need a typographic character rather than an emoji.
Microsoft’s instructions cover Windows 10 and Windows 11. The Windows 11 panel also offers GIFs and kaomoji. Windows Alt codes are for conventional characters that you enter with a numeric keypad; they are not a general method for typing emoji. Microsoft’s Windows keyboard tips
Mac
- Place the insertion point in a text field.
- Press Fn/Globe-E, or choose Edit > Emoji & Symbols.
- Search in Character Viewer and click the character you want.
To see available skin-tone variations for an emoji, hold or click and hold it. macOS can also suggest emoji while you type a commonly used word or phrase; open Character Viewer if no suggestion appears. iPhone and iPad
- Tap a text field in an app that uses the standard keyboard.
- Tap the Emoji button or the globe/next keyboard button.
- Search under Search Emoji, browse categories, and tap an emoji to insert it.
Touch and hold certain emoji to choose a skin tone. If the Emoji keyboard is missing, add it under Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard > Emoji. Apple’s iPhone and iPad instructions

Android
Android keyboards vary, so there is no verified universal shortcut or exact menu path to give here. Look for an emoji key on the keyboard, often marked with a smiley face, or check the installed keyboard’s help or settings for its emoji picker and search feature.
Find an emoji that fits the event
In the picker, try a descriptive search such as party, calendar, balloon, or confetti, or browse the available categories. These are search ideas, not guaranteed category names or labels on every device. Choose the emoji from the picker rather than trying to memorize a special event code.

Why the same emoji may look different
Emoji can be represented by a single character or a sequence, and their appearance depends on whether the receiving device, browser, and font support the relevant glyph. The same emoji may therefore look different across platforms or appear as unsupported characters. Unicode’s Emoji standard (UTS #51, version 18.0, dated 2026-08-28) defines emoji characters and sequences, including text-versus-emoji presentation and skin-tone options. Meaning can vary with language, culture, and social context. For an invitation or event announcement, include the essential details in words instead of relying on an emoji to communicate them.
