Select it and send a short prompt; if it responds, your account has working access. Developers should choose Try API instead, because API access is a separate route that may require its own setup and credentials. Moonshot’s status page can confirm whether the platform is operating, but a green status does not prove that K3 is enabled for every account, plan, or country.
What is Moonshot’s new AI model?
Kimi K3 is the flagship model Moonshot currently presents on its homepage. A K3 research item dated July 16, 2026 describes it as a 2.8-trillion-parameter, natively multimodal model with a one-million-token context window for long-horizon coding, knowledge work, and deep reasoning. Moonshot’s official GitHub organization repeats the 2.8T-parameter, native-vision, one-million-token description.
Those figures are Moonshot’s own capability statements, not results from an independent benchmark. The homepage characterizes K3 as “The new frontier of intelligence.” Treat the parameter count, context length, and multimodal description as the vendor’s published specifications; actual availability and limits can depend on the product interface and your account.

The official entry points are on Moonshot’s homepage. Try Kimi leads to the consumer-facing Kimi experience, while Try API is intended for programmatic use.

How do I try Kimi K3 in the web interface?
The browser route is the quickest way to test personal access. Use the live interface rather than relying on a general announcement, because Moonshot does not publish one universal eligibility rule or geography matrix for K3.
- Open Moonshot’s official homepage. Go directly to https://www.moonshot.ai/ and confirm that you are using Moonshot’s site rather than an imitation service.
- Choose “Try Kimi.” This is the consumer/product route. Do not choose the API button unless you intend to use developer tools or make requests from software.
- Sign in or create an account if prompted. The model selector is checked after entering the signed-in Kimi experience. If the site asks you to authenticate, complete that step before judging availability.
- Open the model or product selector. Look specifically for the label Kimi K3. The selector may be presented as a model menu or as part of the product interface, so inspect the controls around a new conversation if the name is not immediately visible.
- Select Kimi K3 and start a short conversation. Use a simple prompt that should produce an ordinary text answer. A selectable K3 entry by itself is useful evidence, but a response confirms that the account can actually start a session.

A successful response is an account-level test, not a promise that every feature, context length, or future session will be available under identical conditions. If K3 is absent, continue with the checks below instead of assuming that the model has been withdrawn.
How do I know whether my account really has access?
Use a three-part test: authentication, model visibility, and a successful response. You have practical access when you are signed in, Kimi K3 appears as a selectable option, and the interface accepts a prompt and returns an answer from that selection.

This distinction matters because an operational platform and an eligible account are different things. Moonshot’s status page currently lists K3 as operational, along with Kimi, sign-in/sign-up, the website, and API service. That status indicates that the corresponding services are running at platform level; it does not certify access for every account, subscription, or country.
If K3 appears but a prompt fails, capture the error and the time, then check the service status before changing account assumptions. If K3 never appears after sign-in, treat that as an availability or rollout question and consult Moonshot’s current product or support guidance.

A working browser session does not automatically establish that your API account can call K3. Conversely, an API account with a valid setup is a separate condition from seeing K3 in the consumer interface. Test the route you plan to use and keep the two results separate when troubleshooting.

Moonshot provides a dedicated Try API entry point on its homepage, so programmatic use is an intended path. The available information does not state one universal API eligibility rule, pricing schedule, request format, or model identifier for every account. Follow the current instructions shown after selecting Try API rather than copying assumptions from the browser product.
API access may require its own account setup or credentials. Check whether the API control panel actually lists Kimi K3 and whether a test request succeeds; do not infer API permission solely from a model name visible in the web chat. If the API route rejects a request while the browser works, record the account and error separately and consult Moonshot’s current API guidance.
Where can I use Kimi K3?
The documented starting point is Moonshot’s website. From there, Try Kimi opens the product experience and Try API opens the developer route. Moonshot’s public homepage does not provide a complete country-by-country availability table, a universal rollout list, or one rule that applies to every plan.
For that reason, “available on Moonshot” and “available to my account” are not interchangeable statements. The live signed-in interface is the reliable personal check. Why can’t I see Kimi K3 after signing in?
Missing K3 is not, by itself, proof of an outage. Work through the possibilities in order, keeping the account and region context attached to each observation.

The session is not fully authenticated
If the site repeatedly asks you to sign in or sign up, complete authentication before inspecting the selector. A public landing page can show Kimi information without proving that a particular account has model access.
You are looking in the wrong control
Return to the new-conversation or product controls and inspect the model selector for the exact name Kimi K3. The model can be absent from an initial landing view while the signed-in product exposes a separate selector.
Your account is not included in the current rollout
Moonshot has not published one universal eligibility rule or geography matrix for K3. If the service works but your selector does not contain K3, the most defensible interpretation is that access has not been enabled for that account or context, or that the product is presenting a different configuration.
The platform is having a service problem
Check Moonshot’s status page. It currently lists K3 Operational, as well as Kimi, sign-in/sign-up, website, and API service components. A component incident can explain failed requests or an unavailable interface, but an operational status still cannot grant access to an account that is not eligible.
The account and region need to be reported precisely
If K3 remains absent, record the account type you used, the country or region from which you connected, the time and date, the exact selector labels, and any message displayed. Use those facts when consulting Moonshot’s current product or support guidance. Do not assume that another user’s screenshot establishes your own entitlement.

The one-million-token figure should therefore be treated as a published capability claim, not as a guarantee that a particular chat window will accept one million tokens. Interface limits, account permissions, request handling, and task design can all affect what you can actually submit. Likewise, the parameter count does not by itself predict answer quality, speed, cost, or reliability.
For a fair personal evaluation, test the work you care about: provide a representative multimodal input if the interface offers one, try a long document only within the limits displayed to you, and check whether the model’s answer completes the task. Label your notes as observations from your account rather than general claims about every K3 deployment.

Use it to check for a broad incident, then use the signed-in selector and a real prompt to check your own access. If those checks disagree, preserve both observations when contacting support: the platform status and what your account actually displayed.

Which official pages should I use?
Start with Moonshot AI’s homepage for the consumer and API entry points. Moonshot’s official GitHub organization provides the vendor’s public technical description of K3 and identifies Kimi Code as a separate coding-agent project. For current service health, use Moonshot’s status page.
