To move data from an old Android phone to a Redmi 17C 5G, use Xiaomi’s Mi Mover for a wireless transfer, or choose the Android setup wizard’s copy-data option while setting up the Redmi. The wizard may offer a cable-based transfer; use it if the cable fits both phones. For anything that does not arrive, restore account-synced data or copy files manually. Available options and transferable data depend on the old phone, its Android version, and any existing backups.
Choose a transfer method

Use Mi Mover for a wireless transfer
Xiaomi says Mi Mover can transfer data from other Android devices, including phones from other manufacturers, to a new Xiaomi phone. Its listed categories include contacts, messages, photos, videos, music, apps, and other personal data, but support can vary with the old phone model and operating system. Xiaomi Mi Mover support
Prepare both phones
- Charge both phones to at least 30%.
- Enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on each phone.
- Install the latest Mi Mover version on both phones.
- Keep the phones close together, with their screens on during the transfer.
Xiaomi says the transfer uses Wi-Fi Direct and does not consume mobile data. The company describes the process as local and peer-to-peer; that is Xiaomi’s description, not an independent security audit. Xiaomi Mi Mover support
Start the transfer
- Open Mi Mover on both phones. If you cannot find it on a Xiaomi phone, Xiaomi lists Settings > About phone > Mi Mover as a route; the menu can differ by software version. Xiaomi Mi Mover setup help
- On the old phone, choose Old. On the Redmi 17C 5G, choose New.
- Let the Redmi detect the old phone, then connect the devices as prompted.
- Select the data categories you want to transfer, review the displayed reminders, and start.
- Leave the phones nearby, keep their screens on, and do not switch apps until the progress completes.
Copy data during the Redmi’s initial setup
If the Redmi is still in its initial setup, look for the prompt to copy apps and data from the old phone. Android setup may offer a wired transfer when a suitable cable can connect the devices, or a cable-free option. The documented setup instructions are for a different Xiaomi model, so they do not confirm the exact Redmi 17C 5G screen sequence. If you have already finished setup, do not assume the initial copy screen can always be reopened; use Mi Mover or the fallback methods below instead.
Check the cable before buying one
Xiaomi Spain lists USB Type-C and a USB Type-C cable in the Redmi 17C 5G package contents, while noting that package contents can vary by region. Xiaomi UK describes the included cable as USB 2.0, one metre long, and rated at 3 A. Recover or copy data that is missing
Sync account-based information
Sign in to the relevant Google or Mi account and enable sync for the data associated with it. Contacts saved to an account and calendar events may appear after syncing. Contacts stored on a SIM card can be imported separately. These steps restore account-linked information; they do not establish that app logins or private app data have moved. POCO C40 user guide
Copy personal files
For photos, videos, documents, folders, and music, use cloud storage or copy the files through a computer. Check the destination folders on the Redmi afterward, especially if you selected only some categories in Mi Mover or setup.

What may not transfer
Do not assume that “transfer everything” means every app, login, or item of private app data will be restored. The available Xiaomi guidance lists categories and warns that Mi Mover compatibility varies by source model and operating system; it does not establish a universal migration guarantee. Check the Redmi after transfer and use each relevant app’s own account or backup recovery process for anything missing.
