To take a screenshot on the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G, press and release the Side button and Volume down button at the same time. The screen flashes, and the image is saved in the Screenshots album in Gallery. This button shortcut works without first enabling a gesture or setting up a voice assistant, so it is the best method to try first.
What is the quickest way to take a screenshot on the Galaxy A15 5G?
Use the Side and Volume down buttons together. Press and release them at the same time; a brief press is important because holding the buttons can bring up the power menu instead.
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press the Side button and Volume down button simultaneously, then release both after a brief moment.
- Look for the screen flash and the screenshot toolbar. The capture is saved to Gallery.
The Side button may also be called the Power or On/Off button in instructions for other Galaxy devices. Telstra’s Android 14 guide describes the same shortcut as pressing On/Off and the lower part of the Volume key together.
Which screenshot method should I use?
The button combination is the most straightforward option for most situations. Palm swipe can suit a gesture-based or one-handed workflow, voice commands are hands-free when an assistant is available, and Scroll capture is for supported content that extends beyond one screen.

How do I turn on and use Palm swipe to capture?
First enable Palm swipe to capture, then move the edge of your hand across the screen while maintaining contact with the display. If the gesture does nothing, check that its setting is on and try a deliberate edge-of-hand swipe.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Advanced features, then Motions and gestures.
- Turn on Palm swipe to capture.
- Place the edge of your hand against one side of the display and swipe across it, keeping your hand in contact with the screen.
The gesture is an alternative to pressing buttons, not a workaround for every screen: an app or feature that prohibits screenshots may also prevent Palm swipe capture.
Can I take a screenshot with Bixby or Google Assistant?
Yes, if the relevant assistant is set up and available on your phone. Use the command “Hey Bixby, take a screenshot” or “Hey Google, take a screenshot.”

Voice capture is useful when you cannot comfortably press the buttons or touch the screen. It depends on assistant availability and configuration, so use the button combination when you need a direct method that does not rely on an assistant.
How do I add a screenshot shortcut to the Tasks Edge panel?
If Edge panels are available on your A15 5G, you can add a Take screenshot shortcut to the Tasks panel and tap it whenever the panel is open.
- Open the Edge panel and tap Settings.
- Choose Tasks, then tap Edit.
- Add Take screenshot to the Tasks panel.
- Open the Edge panel again and tap the screenshot shortcut.
This method takes more initial setup than the button shortcut. If you do not see Edge panels or the Tasks option, use another capture method available on your phone.

How do I capture a long page with Scroll capture?
Take a normal screenshot first, then tap the Scroll capture icon—the one with two downward arrows—to extend the image through supported scrollable content. The option may not appear in every app because some screens do not support scroll capture.
- Open the scrollable page or screen.
- Take a screenshot with Side + Volume down.
- When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap the Scroll capture icon.
- Continue using the control as needed while the screen scrolls through available content.
Scroll capture is intended for content that continues beyond the visible screen. For a single screen, the ordinary screenshot is enough.
Where are screenshots saved, and how can I edit or share one?
Find captures in Gallery > Albums > Screenshots. You can also look in My Files > Images.

- To find a capture: Open Gallery and select the Screenshots album, or open My Files and go to Images.
- To mark up or crop: Use Draw from the post-capture toolbar to annotate or crop before saving.
- To share: Select the screenshot and tap Share, or use Share from the post-capture toolbar when available.
The Galaxy A15 5G user guide also lists screenshot preferences for showing the toolbar, deleting an image after sharing, hiding the status and navigation bars, saving the original, and—on supported software—choosing JPG or PNG. The availability of the format option depends on the software version.

A screenshot shortcut that works on one screen may not work in every app. Some apps and screens block capture for privacy or security reasons; in those cases, the restriction is imposed by the protected content or app policy rather than a fault with the buttons.
- The power menu appears: Press and release Side + Volume down together rather than holding them.
- Palm swipe does nothing: Confirm the gesture is enabled and try a deliberate swipe with the edge of your hand touching the display.
- Scroll capture is missing: The current app or screen may not support it.
- A protected screen blocks capture: Try a different, non-protected screen to check the shortcut; an app restriction cannot be fixed by changing the button timing.
Samsung notes that available screens, settings, and screenshot availability in Secure Folder can vary by wireless provider, software version, and model. Menu names and options can therefore differ across A15 5G configurations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I take a screenshot while using Secure Folder on the Galaxy A15 5G?
Not necessarily: Samsung says screenshot availability in Secure Folder can vary by wireless provider, software version, and model. If capture is unavailable there, that does not by itself mean the phone’s screenshot buttons are broken.
Why does a streaming or banking screen block screenshots?
Some apps restrict screenshots to protect private or otherwise protected content. If the app displays a security message, the restriction comes from that screen’s policy, not from a need to install a different screenshot tool.
Do I need to download an app or buy an accessory to take screenshots?
No separate capture app or accessory is needed for the built-in methods described here. The A15 5G supports button capture, and offers other options such as gestures or voice commands depending on settings and availability.
