To find a misplaced Fire TV Stick remote, pair an Alexa Voice Remote Pro with the Stick, make sure both are registered to the same Amazon account, and ask Alexa or the Fire TV app to “Find my remote.” Amazon’s documented Remote Finder applies to the Pro; it is not a feature you can enable on a standard Fire TV remote.

What you need before using Remote Finder

  • An Alexa Voice Remote Pro paired with the Fire TV Stick you want to use it with. Amazon’s instructions identify the Pro for Remote Finder; they do not describe enabling the feature on a standard Fire TV remote. See Amazon’s Remote Finder requirements.
  • The Pro and Fire TV registered to the same Amazon account, with the Fire TV turned on.
  • The remote within 30 feet (10 meters) of the paired Fire TV. Amazon gives this as the maximum distance for the feature.
  • For a Fire TV Stick, a dedicated power source using a compatible USB adapter and cable rated 5V, 1A, or equivalent.
  • If you plan to use the Fire TV app, connect it to the same Fire TV paired with the Pro.

Remote compatibility varies by Fire TV device. Check that a remote works with your exact Stick before buying a replacement or additional remote; Amazon’s general Fire TV remote pairing guidance does not establish that every Stick supports every remote.

Pair and prepare the Alexa Voice Remote Pro

  1. Pair the Alexa Voice Remote Pro with the intended Fire TV Stick using Amazon’s remote-pairing instructions. Confirm it controls that Fire TV before trying to locate it.
  2. Check that the Pro and Stick are registered to the same Amazon account.
  3. Make sure the Fire TV is on and that the Stick is connected to a dedicated compatible power source. For the finder instructions, Amazon specifies an adapter and cable rated 5V, 1A, or equivalent.
  4. If using the Fire TV app, open it and connect it to that same Fire TV. The app can send the finder command for an already paired Pro; it does not make an ordinary lost remote ring.

Start the remote finder

Use the exact voice command “Find my remote.” You can say it to an Amazon device with Alexa, or use the Alexa app or Fire TV app. In the Fire TV app, open the Remote tab and tap the Remote Finder icon. The icon is unavailable when the Pro is paired with an Echo Show. Amazon describes these options in its Remote Finder instructions.

Give the remote time to respond: ringing can take up to 30 seconds to begin. It rings for up to five minutes, or until someone presses a button on the remote.

If the remote does not ring

Work through these checks in order:

  1. Check power and range. Confirm the Fire TV Stick is on and using a dedicated compatible power source, and that the remote is within 30 feet (10 meters) of the paired device.
  2. Check the batteries. Amazon recommends alkaline batteries for best performance. Replace both batteries if either is bad.
  3. Use the exact command. Say “Find my remote,” rather than a different phrase.
  4. Verify the app connection. If using the Fire TV app, confirm it is connected to the same Fire TV paired with the Pro.
  5. Restart the device. Unplug the Fire TV or Echo Show for one minute, then reconnect it.
  6. Select the right Pro. If multiple Alexa Voice Remote Pro units are registered, use the correct remote name. Amazon says names can be managed in the Alexa app under All Devices.
  7. Re-pair if needed. Unpair the Pro and pair it with the Fire TV again.

These troubleshooting steps are from Amazon’s Remote Finder troubleshooting guidance. If the problem is that the remote will not pair at all, Amazon’s general pairing help suggests moving within 10 feet (3 meters), holding Home, checking or replacing batteries, resetting the remote, and restarting the Fire TV. The Fire TV app can also be used to pair a remote. A Fire TV with seven controllers paired requires removing one before adding another; see Amazon’s pairing help.

Does Remote Finder work with a standard Fire TV remote?

Amazon’s cited Remote Finder instructions cover the Alexa Voice Remote Pro, not standard Fire TV remotes. Using the Fire TV app as a remote control is a separate function: the app can initiate the finder for a paired Pro, but it does not add a ringing feature to a standard remote.

Before buying a replacement

The Alexa Voice Remote Pro is the remote Amazon documents for Remote Finder. Because compatibility varies by Fire TV device, verify support for your particular Stick before purchasing; do not assume a remote that works with one Fire TV model will work with another.
