Enable notifications and confirm the alert remains active. An alert is a reminder to review your plan—not an order, a guaranteed execution, or a recommendation to trade.
Decide what you want the alert to tell you
Your entry price is a reference point, not automatically a support level, fair value, or signal to buy or sell. Decide whether you want to know when BTC returns to that price, falls below it, rises above it, or approaches a separate threshold on either side.
- For an alert at the exact reference, enter that price.
- For an earlier or later reminder, choose your own nearby threshold and name it to explain its purpose, such as “BTC below entry review.”
Kraken’s alert interface, for example, lets users type a price or adjust it by a percentage from the current market price; that is a setting option, not a recommended buffer. Kraken’s price-alert instructions
Choose the market that matches your reference
Select the BTC market or trading pair—and quote currency—that corresponds to the price you track. BTC quoted in USD and BTC quoted in USDT are different references; also check which venue or chart symbol you selected. Alert workflows ask you to choose a market or pair, and the platforms’ documentation does not establish that prices on different venues are identical.

Choose the trigger direction carefully
The condition determines how price must interact with your threshold. Labels and behavior differ by service, so check the operator shown in the alert setup.
- Either direction: “Reaches” or “Crossing” can notify when price moves to or through the level from either side. Binance defines “Price reaches” as falling to or rising to the target; TradingView describes “Crossing” as reaching or passing a threshold from either direction. - Only an upward move: Choose “above” or “Crossing up,” if offered. Coinbase supports above/below alerts, while TradingView lists separate upward and downward crossing operators.
- Only a downward move: Choose “below” or “Crossing down,” if offered. Some services distinguish crossing a level from simply being greater than or less than it; confirm whether the alert fires on a pass through the threshold or while the price is already on one side.
Set the alert in the app or chart service you use
Available menus and options can change by app version and region. Follow the current labels in your account if they differ from these documented paths.

Coinbase mobile
- Find and select the asset.
- Add it to your watchlist; Coinbase price alerts are available for watchlisted assets.
- Tap the bell-plus control, then choose Add Alert.
- Choose Above or Below, enter the target price, and tap Save.
Coinbase’s custom-alert settings offer push, in-app, and/or email controls. See its price-alert help page.
Binance app or desktop
Binance’s documented app flow uses Binance Pro: open Markets, select the pair, tap Alert, choose a condition, enter a target and frequency, then create the alert. On desktop, the documented route is Alerts → Create Alert, followed by selecting a pair, type, and frequency. Kraken Pro
Open Alerts, select a market and trigger parameters, then enter a price or use the percentage adjustment controls. Active alerts can be reviewed, edited, or deleted. Kraken instructions
TradingView
Set the primary condition to Price, then choose an operator such as Crossing, Crossing up, Crossing down, Greater than, or Less than. Check that the chart symbol is the market you intend to monitor. TradingView alert setup

Check delivery, frequency, and expiry
An alert appearing in a list does not prove your device will display it. Turn on the relevant channel in the platform and grant device, browser, or operating-system permission where required. Binance says to enable notifications for its mobile app in phone settings or its desktop app in system preferences. Kraken requires the corresponding platform-level and device/browser permissions described above.
Also inspect how often the alert can trigger and when it expires. Binance’s documented validity is 90 days, and TradingView allows trigger-frequency choices including once, every time, once per bar close, or once per minute, plus an expiry date. TradingView quotas depend on plan, and its open-ended expiry option is not available for watchlist alerts. These settings affect reminders, not trading execution.

- After creating the alert, find it in the service’s active-alert list and verify the market, quote currency, target, and direction.
- Confirm the alert is enabled and the intended notification channel has permission.
- Review its frequency and expiry, and recreate it if it expires.
- Check it again after changing apps, devices, notification settings, or accounts.
Configuration guidance does not guarantee immediate delivery or uninterrupted service; network and device conditions can affect whether a notification reaches you.
Remember what a Bitcoin price alert does not do
A price alert tells you to check the market; it does not submit an order or guarantee that you can trade at the threshold. Coinbase states of its alerts: “They do not place an order for that asset.” Treat the notification as a prompt to review your own plan rather than as an automatic action.
