If you can still sign in, change your Discord password to a new, unique one, confirm multi-factor authentication (MFA) is enabled, and remove any unfamiliar authorized apps. If your account email was changed or you are locked out, use Discord’s recovery steps immediately; the email-undo link is time-limited.
Secure the account if you can still sign in
Use a device you trust. Discord’s Help Center says the first steps after a suspected compromise are to reset your password and ensure MFA is enabled. See My Discord Account was Hacked or Compromised.
- Change your password. In Discord, open User Settings → My Account and change the password. Choose a unique password of at least eight characters; a password manager can generate and store one. If you cannot remember the current password, select Forgot your password? on the login screen and follow the instructions sent to the email associated with the account. - Enable MFA or check the methods already configured. Discord supports passkeys/security keys, authenticator apps, and SMS. Its guidance recommends security keys. Passkeys can provide passwordless sign-in; security keys can be used for an MFA challenge. Authenticator apps generate one-time codes, and SMS is available if configured. Choose a method that works with your devices and that you can recover if a phone or authenticator is lost; do not assume every method offers the same phishing resistance or works on every device. - Save your backup codes securely. Keep them somewhere separate from the device used for MFA. Each code is single-use. Discord Support says it cannot remove MFA if you do not have the required codes, so make sure you can retrieve them before you need them. - Review connected apps. Open User Settings → Authorized Apps and deauthorize anything you do not recognize or no longer want connected. Discord documents the settings route for desktop, browser, and mobile in My Discord Account was Hacked or Compromised.
- Check the device you used to sign in. If you are on Windows and concerned that malware may have contributed to the suspicious login, Discord recommends running a Windows Defender scan. Its guidance does not require buying a third-party scanner. Avoid suspicious links and files, and be alert to messages that try to trick you into sharing credentials or account access.
- Check your email for an address-change notice. If Discord says the account email was changed without your permission, use the recovery link sent to your previous email address rather than treating the password change as the only remedy.
If your Discord email was changed
Open the original email inbox and find Discord’s message about the change. Select its undo or recovery link as soon as possible. Discord says the link is valid for 48 hours and that support cannot reissue it after it expires. Follow the official guide, My Discord Email was Changed and I Want to Undo It.
The recovery flow restores the prior email, asks you to set a new password, and logs the account out of devices. It also removes the phone number and MFA methods associated with the account. After recovery, add back the phone number and MFA methods you want to use, then save the new backup codes securely.

If you cannot access the account
If the email recovery route does not restore access, or the account remains compromised, submit a report through Discord’s official hacked-account support form linked from My Discord Account was Hacked or Compromised. Include relevant details, such as unauthorized transactions if there are any. Discord cautions that it may be unable to recover an account that was not secured.
Discord says staff will not contact users directly through the Discord app for support matters. Treat unsolicited in-app messages claiming to be support with suspicion; use the official support route instead.

If MFA is stopping you from signing in
First look for the backup codes saved when MFA was enabled. If you configured SMS MFA, Discord says you may be able to use an SMS code instead. If Discord is still open on another device where you are signed in, its lockout guide describes disabling and re-adding MFA from that session. See Locked Out of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
If you have no usable backup codes, SMS option, or signed-in session, Discord says it cannot remove MFA or issue replacement backup codes. Do not rely on support to bypass that safeguard.

If you see unauthorized Discord transactions
Include the transaction details when reporting the compromised account, and use Discord’s billing team for a refund request. Discord cautions against filing a chargeback directly with your financial institution for Discord transactions because the account may be suspended while the matter is investigated.
