To review an add-on, inspect its requested OAuth scopes in the Google Admin console. To remove an existing authorization, revoke its access; to prevent API access, block the app; to remove it from an interface, uninstall it. These actions are not interchangeable, and Google Chat apps need an additional step because revoking OAuth access alone does not stop their calls.

For Google Chat apps, do not rely on OAuth revocation to stop use: Chat app calls do not require OAuth scopes. Google advises uninstalling the Chat app and removing it from the allowlist when the goal is to stop its use. Google Workspace Admin Help
Review an app’s access in the Admin console
- Sign in to the Google Admin console with an administrator account that has the required security settings privilege.
- Open Security > Access and data control > API controls > Manage App Access.
- Review the configured apps and accessed apps. Depending on the view, details can include the app name, type, ID, ownership, verification information, organizational-unit access, configured access level, user counts, and requested Google services.
- Open the app’s details and review its OAuth scopes and access setting. Google lists access levels including Trusted, Limited, Specific Google data, and Blocked. Choose an access level that fits organizational policy and the data the app needs. Google Workspace Admin Help
Reviewing scopes is an inspection step, not a change to authorization. If you want to remove access, use the applicable revocation workflow or change the app’s access policy.
Revoke access for an administrator-installed Marketplace app
Google documents a separate data-access screen in the Marketplace app list for apps installed by an administrator. From there, an administrator can inspect the app’s requested OAuth scopes and revoke all access. The documented control does not offer revocation of selected individual scopes. After revocation, users are prompted to authorize the app again when they next use it. Google Workspace Admin Help

This workflow is specifically documented for administrator-installed Marketplace apps. If your app is another type, use the access controls available for that app in API controls and confirm what the chosen control changes before applying it.
Block API access or restrict a service
Block one app
In Security > Access and data control > API controls > Manage App Access, open the app’s details and change its access setting to Blocked. Google describes a blocked app as unable to access Google services. This is an administrator control, not the same as uninstalling the app from a user’s interface. Google Workspace Admin Help

Restrict a Google service across apps
Administrators can also configure service access controls. Google warns that restricting service access can stop untrusted apps and revoke their tokens. Consider the effect on other apps that use that service before changing a broad policy. Google Workspace Admin Help
Check the app before changing its access
- Identity and publisher: Confirm the app and its publisher are the ones your users or organization intend to use.
- Scopes and services: Compare requested access with the app’s stated purpose and the Google services it uses.
- Organizational-unit configuration: Check which organizational units can access the app and whether the setting is organization-wide or limited.
- Verification: Treat verification status as one review signal, not a guarantee that an app is risk-free. Google says apps requesting sensitive user data must pass OAuth app verification; apps requesting broad or restricted access may need a security assessment renewed annually. Internal apps are not reviewed by Google in the same way as public Marketplace apps. Google Workspace Marketplace Help
- Publisher information and policies: Consider the publisher’s privacy policy and support details along with your organization’s needs.
Uninstall an add-on from the user interface
In Google Docs, Google documents this path: open the add-on menu, choose Manage add-on, select the add-on, then choose Uninstall. This removes it from that user-facing interface; it is not a substitute for an administrator blocking API access where that is the goal. Google Docs Editors Help

Allow time for access lists to update
Google says app details typically appear 24–48 hours after authorization. The accessed-apps list can take 48 hours after a token is granted or revoked to update. A recent change may therefore not appear immediately in that list. Google Workspace Admin Help
Labels and paths can vary with the app type, administrator role, organizational unit, permissions, and interface updates. A user without administrator access cannot use the Admin console workflow; they can uninstall an add-on where their Workspace interface permits it. Google Docs Editors Help
