To capture a web page from top to bottom, use a full-page or scrolling screenshot instead of the ordinary screenshot shortcut. In Microsoft Edge choose Screenshot and then the full-page option; in Firefox choose Take Screenshot → Save full page; on an iPhone choose Full Page in the screenshot preview; and on Android 12 or later tap Capture more after taking a screenshot. Chrome also exposes a version-sensitive DevTools command called Capture full size screenshot.
The exact label and output depend on your device, browser version and, for Android, the app or screen being captured. The methods below distinguish a whole document from the visible viewport so you can save the result correctly.
What a scrolling screenshot captures
A normal screenshot records only the pixels currently visible. A scrolling or full-page capture stitches content below the fold into one result, which is useful for long articles, receipts, documentation and web layouts. It is different from selecting a small region: the capture should include the page’s full document height, not merely the browser window.
- Choose full page or scrolling when you need everything above and below the viewport.
- Choose visible when only the current screen matters.
- Use a region tool when you need a specific rectangle rather than the complete document.
Very long or dynamically loaded pages can still produce unusual results. If content appears only after scrolling, wait for it to load before capturing, and check the finished image for duplicated sections or missing lazy-loaded media.

Microsoft Edge: capture an entire webpage
Edge’s built-in Screenshot tool can capture the full webpage, including content outside the visible screen. Its interface also lets you mark up the result, copy it or save it. Microsoft notes that availability and labels can vary by device type, market and browser version.
- Open the webpage in Edge and let the page finish loading.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S. You can also open the page’s right-click menu and choose Screenshot, or open Screenshot from Edge settings.
- Choose the full-page capture option.
- Review the generated image. Add markup if needed, then copy it or save it to your computer.
If the shortcut does nothing, open Edge’s menu and search for Screenshot; keyboard mappings and menu placement can differ between releases.
Firefox: use “Save full page”
Firefox explicitly separates a full-page capture from a visible-area capture. The result can be downloaded as a PNG or copied to the clipboard.
- Open the page.
- Right-click an empty area and select Take Screenshot. Alternatively press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Choose Save full page. Use Save visible for only the current viewport, or the selection mode for a defined region.
- Select Download to save a PNG in Firefox’s default download folder, or choose Copy to put the image on the clipboard.
On Wayland, Mozilla notes that crosshair movement in the selection interface does not work. That caveat concerns selecting a region; it is not a claim that every full-page capture fails.

Current how-to descriptions commonly use Chrome DevTools’ command menu to run Capture full size screenshot. The exact interface is version-sensitive, so confirm that the command is present in your installed Chrome before relying on it.

- Open the target page.
- Open DevTools with F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I (Windows/Linux), or Command+Option+I (macOS).
- Open the DevTools command menu, search for Capture full size screenshot, and run it if displayed.
- Check the downloaded image for the entire document and for content that loads only after interaction.
Chrome’s command label or availability may change. If you need a confirmed built-in route and the command is missing, use Edge or Firefox’s documented full-page workflow instead.
iPhone: save a full Safari webpage
Apple’s screenshot preview offers Full Page for an entire Safari webpage. This is a webpage workflow; do not assume the same control appears in every app or browser.
- Take a screenshot. On Face ID iPhones, quickly press and release the side button and volume-up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release Home and the side button together.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears.
- Tap Full Page. The preview expands beyond the screen’s edge.
- Use the crop controls if you need to trim the capture, add markup if required, then save or share it from the screenshot interface.
If Full Page is absent, confirm that you captured a Safari webpage rather than an app screen that does not expose the full-page option.
Android phones: use “Capture more” (Android 12 and later)
Google documents scrolling capture on Android 12 and later for most screens that allow scrolling. Manufacturer software can change the buttons and wording, so a particular phone may provide a different control.
- Open the scrollable page or screen.
- Press Power and Volume down together.
- Tap Capture more at the bottom of the screenshot preview.
- Move the crop guidelines to include the required content, then save or share the result.
This is not guaranteed for every app or device. If the button is missing, check the phone maker’s support instructions and verify that the device runs Android 12 or newer.

Which method should you use?

Use the instructions for the browser and device actually in hand. Edge, Firefox, Apple and Android provide first-party procedures for the workflows described above; the Chrome route should be treated as a version-dependent option.
Quality checks before you share the image
- Confirm the top and bottom: make sure the page title is not clipped and the final section is included.
- Look for repeated content: sticky headers, cookie notices or animated areas can be duplicated during stitching.
- Check lazy-loaded images: scroll through the page first when images appear only after entering the viewport.
- Trim private data: crop or mark out account names, addresses, tokens and other information before sending the file.
- Choose a practical format: PNG is convenient for text and UI screenshots; a very long image may be difficult to view, print or attach.
When built-in capture fails
The result contains only the visible area
You selected a visible or region mode rather than full page. Repeat the operation and choose full page, Save full page, Full Page or Capture more, depending on the platform.
A control is missing
Check the platform requirements: Android scrolling capture is documented for Android 12 and later, and iPhone’s Full Page example is Safari-specific. Browser versions, device type and market can also alter Edge’s menus. Update the browser or use Firefox or Edge when Chrome’s command is unavailable.
Images or sections are blank
Some pages load media lazily, require a scroll event, or replace content after a delay. Scroll through the page once, wait for network activity to settle, close overlays and capture again. A page protected by a bot check or CAPTCHA may not be capturable as normal content.
The page is extremely long
Very tall images can be awkward to open or share and may exceed an app’s practical limits. Capture a smaller region, divide the page into logical sections, or generate a PDF when a multipage document is more useful than one giant bitmap.

The screenshot includes a cookie banner, popup or chat bubble
Dismiss the overlay before capturing. If the site immediately recreates it, use a capture workflow that can accept consent and remove common overlays before taking the image.

Cost, reliability and workflow notes
Built-in browser and phone tools have no separate screenshot service charge, but they require an interactive session and can be affected by overlays, authentication, lazy loading and browser changes. An API is more suitable for repeatable jobs, server-side automation, many URLs or AI-agent workflows. Keep your access key private, set a request timeout appropriate for slow pages, inspect the returned image and record the response’s billing and page-verdict headers when accounting matters.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I print a scrolling webpage directly to paper?
A scrolling screenshot creates one image; printing it may shrink text or span many pages. For a readable paper document, use the browser’s print dialog or ScreenshotNeo’s PDF capture instead.
Does Safari on Mac have the same Full Page control as iPhone?
The documented procedure here is for Safari webpages on iPhone. Do not assume that the iPhone control or labels are identical on macOS.
Why does Android show no Capture more button?
Google documents the feature for Android 12 and later on most scrollable screens. Older Android versions, unsupported apps and manufacturer interfaces may omit it.
What is the difference between full-page and full-size capture?
Both aim to include content beyond the viewport. “Full page” is the label used by Edge, Firefox and iPhone, while Chrome’s reported DevTools command is “Capture full size screenshot.”
