To print a PDF from most Samsung Galaxy phones, open My Files, find the PDF, tap the file’s three-dot menu, and choose Print. Select a printer, review the available options, and tap the print control. If no printer is listed, enable or install a printer service in Settings → Connections → More connection settings → Printing.
Print a PDF from My Files
- Open My Files. Browse to the folder containing the PDF, such as Downloads or Documents.
- Open the file menu. Tap the three dots beside the PDF (or open the PDF and use its options menu).
- Choose Print. Android’s print preview opens if a print service is available.
- Select the printer. Tap the printer shown in the printer selector.
- Review the job. Set any options your printer service provides, such as paper size, number of copies, orientation, page range, color, or duplex printing.
- Send the document. Tap the print button and wait for the printer to accept the job.
The exact labels and screen layout can differ by Galaxy model, Android version, and installed print service. Samsung Support’s guide, last updated 9 May 2024, uses screenshots from a Galaxy S10+ running Android 9 and warns that “settings and steps may vary depending on your Galaxy device and Android OS Version.”
When the printer does not appear
Check the phone’s Printing settings
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap More connection settings.
- Open Printing.
- Download a compatible printer plug-in if one is offered, then enable the installed print service.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 user manual describes selecting an installed service, finding printers on the same Wi-Fi network, and adding a printer manually when necessary. Samsung’s New Zealand support instructions describe a similar plug-in sequence: open Printing settings, download the plug-in, return to Printing, open the plug-in, choose Add Printer, and follow its instructions.
Use a supported connection
Samsung documents two connection methods for this workflow:

Samsung’s manual states that “Some printers may not be compatible with the device.” Check support for the exact printer model rather than assuming that every wireless printer will work.
Other ways to print a PDF or document
Samsung’s support instructions also describe app-specific print routes. These menus can change with app and software updates.

- Chrome: Open the browser menu, tap Share, then choose Print.
- Samsung Internet: Open the menu and choose Print/PDF.
- Gmail: Open the message menu and tap Print. This is useful when the document is attached to or represented by an email that Gmail can print.
Choose print settings before sending
The print preview may expose paper size, copies, orientation, page range, color mode, and duplex printing. Which controls appear depends on the printer and its print service; a phone cannot add options that the printer does not support. Confirm the page range and paper size before sending multipage PDFs, especially when the document contains mixed page sizes.
Troubleshoot a missing or failed print job
No printer is listed
- Return to Settings → Connections → More connection settings → Printing and verify that a printer service is installed and enabled.
- Use the service’s search function, or choose its manual-add option.
- Confirm that the phone and printer can communicate over the selected Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct connection.
- Search Settings for Printing if your model uses a different menu path.
The printer is found but will not print
- Verify that the selected service supports the exact printer model.
- Check the printer’s own connection state and accept any Wi-Fi Direct or pairing prompt it displays.
- Reopen the PDF and submit the job again after selecting the correct printer service.
These checks address the causes Samsung documents directly: print-service setup, network communication, and model compatibility. They are not a guarantee for an unsupported printer or a printer-specific hardware fault.

What you need for paper output
You need a printer that the Galaxy phone can reach through a compatible print service. A wireless Wi-Fi printer is the most directly supported category because Samsung documents Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct printing, but compatibility still depends on the individual printer model and service. If you print regularly, use paper and ink or toner specified for that printer model; those consumables are not interchangeable across all printers.
