Use Pokémon HOME as your central inventory, keep event Pokémon in clearly labeled boxes, and record each Pokémon’s distribution and claim details while they are easy to verify. Claim gifts promptly: Mystery Gifts delivered to HOME’s Gift Box are available only for a period of time, but Pokémon Support does not publish an exact expiry interval.
Set up Pokémon HOME as your event Pokémon inventory
Pokémon HOME is Pokémon’s storage service, available on Nintendo Switch and mobile, for storing Pokémon and moving them among compatible games. Pokémon’s official page lists capacity for 30 deposited Pokémon on the Basic plan and 6,000 on Premium. Those figures describe HOME service plans, not physical storage products. Separate event Pokémon from other collections
Create boxes that make sense for the way you search later: by event, originating game, or year. For instance, a collector might use separate boxes for each game and put the event name in the box label. This is a practical organization method, not a special built-in event-labeling feature.
Keep a provenance note
For especially rare or meaningful Pokémon, keep a companion note with the distribution name, original game or save, claim date, and any visible event details. These details can help you identify where a Pokémon came from if you later move it or reorganize HOME. Pokémon’s official instructions do not prescribe a particular recordkeeping format.

Claim Mystery Gifts before they disappear
To receive a Mystery Gift sent to Pokémon HOME, open the mobile app’s Gift Box and claim it into HOME Boxes, or use the displayed code in a compatible game when that option is offered. Pokémon Support says Gift Box gifts become unavailable after a period of time, but does not state how long that period is. Claim them promptly rather than relying on an assumed deadline. Follow the instructions for gifts claimed in a game
Not every event Pokémon is claimed through HOME. Follow the instructions for the particular game and promotion, then check where that game placed the Pokémon. In Pokémon’s documented Sword and Shield example, a promotional Pokémon appears in the party or Pokémon Boxes, and Support reminds players to save after receiving it. That example is specific to Sword and Shield; it is not a universal receipt procedure. The promotion instructions are at Pokémon Support.

Check compatibility before moving an event Pokémon
Having a Pokémon in HOME does not mean it can be transferred to every Pokémon game. Pokémon’s compatibility guidance says a Pokémon can be moved only to games in which it appears, and restrictions may also apply. Before planning a transfer, check the current compatibility information for both the Pokémon and destination title on Pokémon HOME’s move page.
