First confirm which “HomePad” you have: this guide concerns HomePad – Smart Home Dashboard by Quentin Van Eylen, the app for Apple Home/HomeKit or Home Assistant—not the unrelated homePad Solutions rental-document service. Public information confirms a guest-protection authentication control, but does not document the exact menu path or a complete sharing and permissions workflow.
Confirm you have the smart-home dashboard
More than one unrelated product uses the HomePad name. The app covered here is listed as HomePad – Smart Home Dashboard by Quentin Van Eylen and is intended for iPhone and iPad use with Apple Home/HomeKit or Home Assistant. Check the app’s developer and icon before following advice about its privacy or settings. The separate homePad Solutions service handles rental documents; its policies and collaboration features do not describe this dashboard.
Apple’s App Store listing, accessed in 2026, displays iOS 17.6 and iPadOS 17.6 or later as requirements. Store details can change, so check the listing for the version currently available on your device: HomePad – Smart Home Dashboard on the App Store.
What sharing and guest controls are documented?
The App Store listing says Family Sharing can make the app available to up to six family members. That is a storefront sharing feature; the listing does not explain how it affects access to a household’s Apple Home or Home Assistant setup, nor does it document invitation, role, or revocation steps.

The developer’s App Store release notes mention: “Enable authentication so your guests cannot modify your settings.” This confirms that a guest-protection control has been described, but not its current location, authentication method, or whether it restricts anything beyond modifying settings. The public information does not establish a set of granular roles or a complete permissions system. See the listing’s release notes for the developer’s wording: App Store listing.
Because an exact current path is not documented, avoid relying on guessed taps or assuming that the guest control manages household membership. For invitations, access removal, or more detailed permissions, consult the help available in your installed app or contact the developer for instructions specific to your version.

What the privacy statements do—and do not—say
App Store disclosure
The developer’s App Store privacy disclosure says “Data Not Collected.” Apple notes that developer-provided privacy information “has not been verified by Apple.” Treat this as the developer’s disclosure, not an independent audit or proof about every data flow on a particular installed version. The qualification appears in the App Store listing.
Vendor website claims
The HomePad/Luminae product site says the dashboard has no subscription, account, or cloud in the middle, and communicates with accessories on the local network. It also describes pairing an iPad with Apple Home as a camera and security system. These are the vendor’s product claims, not independently verified security findings. The available public material does not establish that every website statement and the App Store disclosure refer to the same current app build. Read the vendor’s description at HomePad’s official site.

Local-network communication and a “Data Not Collected” disclosure are distinct claims: neither, by itself, demonstrates that every component in a smart-home setup is private or secure. The public material cited here does not provide an independent audit or comparable security test.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What remains unclear
The available public information does not provide a current step-by-step guide to sending household invitations, assigning roles, revoking access, or explaining how HomePad’s dashboard permissions relate to the underlying HomeKit or Home Assistant permissions. It also does not establish the precise scope or current menu location of guest authentication. For those actions, use the installed app’s current help or ask the developer rather than treating Family Sharing as a substitute for household access management.
