For a denser feed, switch Reddit’s default feed view to Compact if the option is available. For the classic desktop layout itself, visit old.reddit.com. Compact view changes how posts appear; Old Reddit is a separate legacy interface. Third-party extensions can offer broader restyling, but they are not Reddit settings and may depend on browser support and ongoing maintenance.
Option 1: Make the current feed more compact
Compact view is the simplest in-product adjustment if you mainly want more posts visible at once. Reddit users report this route: Profile → Settings → Preferences → Default Feed View → Compact. The exact labels may vary, and the setting may not appear for every account or version.
Reddit’s July 2025 changelog confirms that Compact View is available and says users can collapse or expand content with the X key: Reddit’s Compact View changelog. This makes the feed denser, but it does not recreate Old Reddit’s full layout.
Option 2: Open the legacy desktop site
If you want the classic interface rather than a denser version of the current one, try old.reddit.com. Reddit’s help documentation still points to the legacy site, using old.reddit.com/r/all as an example: Reddit Help: How do I access old Reddit?

Old Reddit is a separate interface, not a preference that transforms the current site. Reddit announced planned changes involving its legacy desktop experience in August 2026, so availability and behavior may change; check the site when you use this guide: Reddit’s August 2026 desktop announcement.

Option 3: Consider a third-party restyling extension
If Compact view is not enough and Old Reddit is not the experience you want, browser extensions may offer more extensive visual changes. For example, the Classic Layout for Reddit project describes a rebuilt old-style layout. Its repository also notes a logged-out access limitation following a Reddit JSON API change in 2026. A Safari App Store listing advertises Yesterday For Old Reddit.

These are third-party tools, not Reddit features, and their listings describe what their publishers claim rather than independently verified performance. Before installing one, check that its publisher is identifiable, that it currently supports your browser, what permissions it requests, and whether it still works with Reddit. Avoid granting permissions that seem broader than the extension’s stated purpose.
