With Playwright, create the browser context using deviceScaleFactor: 2, set the viewport in CSS pixels, navigate to the page, then call page.screenshot(). Use fullPage: true separately if you need the whole scrollable page rather than just the visible viewport.
Take a 2× screenshot with Playwright
Set device scale on the browser context before creating or navigating the page. The viewport dimensions remain CSS pixels: a 1280 × 800 viewport at 2× scale is expected to render at roughly twice those pixel dimensions for a viewport capture. The exact output dimensions can depend on the capture area and browser behavior.

Playwright’s context option emulates a device scale factor of 2; its screenshot API separately lets you choose CSS-pixel or device-pixel output. Choose viewport or full-page capture
Pixel scale and page extent are separate decisions. A default screenshot captures the current viewport; fullPage: true extends the capture to the full scrollable page.

Keep the CSS viewport at the layout size you want; setting 2× device scale does not mean doubling the viewport dimensions.
Wait for the page to be ready
Navigation completion does not guarantee that a modern page has finished rendering all the content you need. Client-side rendering, animations, lazy-loaded images, and consent screens may require a site-specific readiness check, wait, or interaction before capturing. For a Playwright workflow, navigate first, then wait for a meaningful condition on the target page if required, and capture after it is satisfied. Avoid treating a fixed delay as proof that every dynamic element is ready.
Check the agent’s browser runtime
The example assumes the agent can access a Playwright browser object and configure a browser context. Agent frameworks differ, so confirm that the runtime exposes context-level device scaling before adapting the snippet. The exact agent framework is not specified here.
