Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Give each shot a clear purpose and a few deliberate production choices: who or what is on screen, what happens, how it is framed and lit, and what sound belongs in the moment. Keep those choices coherent across shots, generate short clips when the action is complex, and refine a promising take with small edits rather than piling on style adjectives.
Start with a creative point of view
Before writing a prompt, choose one detail that makes the video feel specific to its story: a recurring object, a distinctive color, a character’s habit, or a particular way of seeing the scene. Treat that as a motif to carry through the sequence, not a magic formula for originality. A coherent set of choices is more useful than a string of broad labels such as “cinematic,” “beautiful,” or “epic.”
For each shot, decide what the viewer should notice and what the camera needs to show. OpenAI’s Sora 2 Prompting Guide recommends thinking of a prompt as a storyboard: it notes that unspecified choices—including time, weather, wardrobe, camera angle, cuts, and set design—may be filled in by the model. More concrete direction narrows those choices, though it cannot guarantee that every detail will be followed.
Write a prompt that describes one readable shot
Build the prompt around the visible event, then add the production details that matter. A useful order is subject, setting, one plausible action, framing or camera movement, lighting and palette, then the moment or detail the viewer should notice. Avoid asking a short clip to contain several unrelated actions or a long speech; a crowded prompt can make the central event harder to follow.

Example prompt structure
“Medium close-up of a bicycle courier in a rain-darkened alley at blue hour. A small brass bell is tied to the handlebar with red thread. She stops beneath a warm shop light and turns the bell once with her thumb. Camera holds steady; muted teal shadows and warm amber practical light. Quiet tire hiss on wet pavement, then one soft bell ring.”
This is a structure, not a guaranteed recipe. Replace the details with those that fit your own scene, and leave out elements that do not matter. OpenAI’s guide says shorter clips are generally followed more reliably. It gives an example of joining two four-second clips in editing instead of generating one eight-second clip; those durations are an illustration in the guide, not universal limits or measured performance results.

Keep characters and visual style consistent across clips
Continuity improves when you deliberately repeat a small set of identifying details: character appearance and wardrobe, a location feature, the palette, and the logic of the lighting. Change the action from shot to shot while keeping those anchors stable. If the tool accepts image references, use an appropriate still to anchor a character, wardrobe, set dressing, or aesthetic, and describe the new action in text. OpenAI says image input can provide that visual anchor while the prompt explains what happens next.
References can help establish a shared starting point, but they do not remove the need to inspect each result. Check that a character’s key details, setting, and lighting still make sense from one clip to the next before assembling the sequence.

Direct sound as part of the scene
Specify what the viewer should hear, where it comes from, and when it happens. Depending on the scene, that might be quiet room tone, a distant train, footsteps tied to visible movement, a short line of dialogue, or music. A small, well-placed sound can give a quiet shot rhythm without turning it into a fully scored scene. If the scene should be silent, say so rather than letting an incidental sound compete with the image.
Keep dialogue short and natural. In a scene with more than one speaker, label speakers consistently so the intended voice-to-character relationship is clear. Listen to the generated audio in context: a sound effect or music bed is useful only if it supports the action rather than drawing attention to itself.

Adobe describes its Firefly Generate Sound Effects feature as creating custom effects from text and using a voice guide for timing and intensity. These are product capabilities described by Adobe, not a promise that generated audio will sound natural in every scene. Once a take is close, preserve its successful elements and request one targeted change: adjust the lens or framing, alter the palette, or clarify a single action. If several things are changed at once, it becomes harder to tell which change helped. OpenAI describes editing as “for nudging, not gambling” and recommends pinning a close result as a reference. That is vendor guidance, not an independently tested guarantee.

Assemble and polish the sequence in an editor
Generated clips are material to shape, not necessarily a finished sequence. In an editing timeline, trim repeated or awkward moments, vary shot scale when the story benefits from it, and balance dialogue, ambience, and effects. Remove sounds or visual flourishes that distract from the moment. Adobe’s Premiere Generative Media Tool overview, last updated September 9, 2026, describes generating video and sound effects from prompts in the timeline, working with references, and adding editable generated clips. That is an optional product workflow, not a requirement to use Premiere.
If you are choosing a tool, compare whether it accepts image or frame references, how much control it offers over shot and style, whether it supports the dialogue or sound effects you need, and whether generated assets can be refined in an editing timeline. Check current access, licensing, and export terms directly with the provider; there is no single best tool established by the cited product descriptions.
Check YouTube’s AI disclosure rules before publishing
If the finished video is for YouTube, disclosure depends on the content and how it was made. YouTube Help says creators must disclose AI-generated or altered content that seems realistic. Its examples requiring disclosure include making a real person appear to say or do something they did not, altering footage of a real event or place, generating a realistic scene that never happened, and creating music that is the main focus of the video. The same page lists some production assistance and minor edits—such as color or lighting adjustments, captions, audio repair, or help with a script or outline—as examples that do not require disclosure. These are YouTube’s platform rules, not a universal legal standard; see the current YouTube Help guidance on disclosing GenAI content when uploading.
YouTube’s May 27, 2026 announcement described a more prominent label for photorealistic and meaningfully AI-altered or generated material: below the player on long-form videos and as an overlay on Shorts. Display details can change, so check the current setting in YouTube Studio and the YouTube announcement.
