In OBS, add your ASMR recording as a Media Source and turn on Loop in that source’s properties. To prevent the audio from playing twice, route the file through one intended audio path and check that desktop or application audio capture is not also picking it up. Test the transition from the end of the recording back to its beginning before going live.
Use OBS to repeat the recording—not YouTube’s viewer Loop control
YouTube’s Loop control repeats a video or playlist for an individual viewer on the watch screen. It does not tell a live encoder to replay a file. For a YouTube Live broadcast, the repeat setting belongs in the software sending the stream, such as OBS.
In OBS, a Media Source’s Loop property makes the file play again after playback completes. Restart playback when source becomes active is a separate setting: it restarts the file when the source is in the current scene and visible. Turn on Loop to repeat the recording; use the restart option only if you also want playback to reset when the source becomes active. OBS’s Media Sources documentation describes these controls: OBS Media Sources.
Set up the ASMR video as a looping OBS source
- Add the file. In your scene’s Sources panel, select + and choose Media Source. Create a new source, then browse to and select the recording. OBS supports common video and audio formats, including MP4 and MOV.
- Enable repetition. Open the Media Source properties and check Loop. Confirm that you selected the intended file and that playback begins as expected.
- Choose whether the source should restart when activated. Enable Restart playback when source becomes active only if the file should start over when the source becomes visible in the active scene. This does not replace the Loop setting.
- Check the audio mixer and routing. Identify the Media Source’s audio in the mixer. If desktop or application audio capture is also active, check whether it includes the same file. Keep one intended path for the recording’s sound rather than sending the same audio to the stream twice.
- Listen across the loop point. Preview the last few seconds and the opening seconds together. If there is a pause, abrupt change, or overlapping sound, the issue may be in the recording’s end-to-start transition. Edit the source file if needed; the documented OBS controls do not guarantee a gapless or crossfaded seam.
Test the stream before broadcasting
Make a test stream and monitor both audio and video, preferably using a private or unlisted broadcast when appropriate. Listen for doubled sound during ordinary playback and at the loop boundary. In YouTube Studio, use the stream URL and stream key shown for the broadcast to connect OBS, then check the stream in Live Control Room before going public. Check eligibility and rights before going live
YouTube’s current live-streaming help says a channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days; streamers must be at least 16. Check the current requirements at Get started with live streaming, since eligibility and platform rules can change.

YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it identifies material that remains in the stream, it may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Even licensed third-party material can be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. Make sure you have the necessary rights for the recording and every sound in it; YouTube explains the process in Copyright issues with live streams and its Terms of Service.
Troubleshoot doubled audio and loop problems
