These controls reduce unwanted contact and help protect account access, but they do not make every transaction or account detail invisible to other Cash App users.
How do I make my Cash App private?
Use the current app’s Security, Privacy, and Notifications settings to review the controls below. Cash App’s published guidance confirms these controls but does not provide a stable tap-by-tap path for all of them; labels and availability may vary by account, device, and app version.
- Require authentication. In Security settings, enable Security Lock and choose the available face, fingerprint, or PIN option. Set it to protect app access or require authentication before a payment, according to the options shown for your account and device. - Enable alerts. In Notifications settings, turn on available alerts for sign-ins, large transactions, and changes to account settings. Alerts can help you spot activity you do not recognize.
- Review request permissions. In Privacy settings, choose who may request money. If contacts-only is offered and fits your needs, select it to limit requests from people outside your contacts.
- Review discoverability. Check whether people can find you by name, phone number, or email, and narrow those options if you prefer less visibility.
These settings help control access, requests, and findability; they do not guarantee that you will avoid scams or undo a payment you approved.
How do I lock my Cash App card?
If your physical Cash App Card is lost or exposed, use Card Lock in the app. Cash App says card transactions are declined until you unlock it, and that you can lock the card instantly in the app. Find the current card controls in Cash App rather than relying on an outdated menu path. Card Lock applies to card transactions. It is not the same as Security Lock, which protects account access or payments, or Lock Tag, which controls transactions initiated with a Cash App Tag.
If you use a Cash App Tag
A Cash App Tag is a physical payment device linked to an eligible Cash App Card. Cash App’s terms say Tag locking works independently of Card Lock: locking the Tag does not lock the card, and locking the card does not lock the Tag. Transactions initiated before the Tag is disabled may still be processed. Cash App Terms of Service

Can people see my Cash App transactions?
Do not assume a payment is invisible to other Cash App users. Cash App’s Privacy Notice says certain information may be available to other customers to help them identify the person they are transacting with. This can include your name, Cashtag, prior transaction history, account tenure, and whether you appear in their contacts. Cash App Privacy Notice
Cash App also says it collects transaction details such as time and place, the parties’ names, descriptions, amounts, devices, and payment methods. Restricting requests or discoverability is not the same as erasing transaction records or concealing all payment details. The Privacy Notice is effective June 8, 2026; consult the current notice for the latest terms.

What do Cash App privacy choices cover?
In-app controls for requests and findability are separate from privacy rights and advertising choices described in Cash App’s Privacy Notice. The notice explains how to submit access or deletion requests through Cash App support or phone support, and points to the website’s Your Privacy Choices link for opting out of cross-context behavioral advertising sharing where applicable. What should I do if I see suspicious activity?
- Never share your sign-in code or PIN. Cash App states, “Cash App will never ask you for your sign-in code or PIN.” Treat a request for either as suspicious, even if the sender claims to represent Cash App. Cash App Security
- Report an unfamiliar transaction. Open the activity feed, select the transaction, and tap Report, following Cash App’s security guidance.
- Contact Cash App through an official channel. Use in-app chat or the phone support number listed on Cash App’s official site. Do not rely on contact details or links in unsolicited messages. Cash App Security
