Track video game awards as a series of separate, dated events—not as a single nominee or winner list. For each award, record the official nominee announcement, eligibility rules, voting window, ceremony, livestream, and final results, with the time zone and source page attached to each update. That distinction matters: a nominee is not a winner, and a public-vote finalist is not necessarily the same thing as a jury-selected finalist.

As of November 2, 2026, The Game Awards is scheduled for December 10, Golden Joystick winners are due November 11, BAFTA’s 2026 winners have already been announced, and the 2026 Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony has passed. Those different points in the awards calendar show why a reliable tracker needs both upcoming reminders and an archive of completed results.

What should a video game awards tracker record?

A useful tracker records the source and status of every milestone. Do not keep only a list of games: the date, selection method, official page, and time zone determine whether an entry is a nomination, a voting opportunity, a scheduled ceremony, or a confirmed result.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use one row per award body and award year, then add a separate record for each category or milestone if the organizer releases information in stages. A spreadsheet, notes app, or calendar can all work; the important part is preserving the official source and the date you last checked it.

Field What to record Why it matters
Award identity Award body and its official award-year label It distinguishes overlapping cycles and historical pages.
Source record Official URL and page type: rules, eligibility, longlist, nominees, voting, ceremony, livestream, or winners A rules page and a result page answer different questions; keep both when available.
Nominee milestone Announcement date, time zone, and whether all categories have been published Organizers may publish nominees in stages or update a page after the initial announcement.
Eligibility Release window and eligibility cutoff, if published This helps explain why a game appears in one award year rather than another.
Selection method Public vote, jury, member vote, developer vote, or mixed process It clarifies what a vote can influence and which status to assign.
Voting window Opening and closing timestamps, including time zone A closing date without a time zone can mislead readers in other regions.
Ceremony logistics Date, local time, UTC conversion, venue, geography, livestream destination, and calendar option if offered These details make a reminder usable across regions and distinguish a planned event from a completed one.
Result record Category, winner or recipient, developer and publisher where relevant, announcement date, and official result page It preserves the final outcome rather than leaving a nominee list to imply one.
Audit trail Last-checked timestamp and an archived snapshot or note when a page changes It helps resolve later questions about what was announced and when.

For a small personal list, these fields can live in a single spreadsheet. A more detailed tracker can split the award-year overview from category-level results: the overview holds the rules, schedule, source links, and overall status; the category records hold nominees and the eventual recipient. That makes it easier to correct one result without rewriting the event timeline.

How do I track nominees, voting, ceremonies, and winners step by step?

Set up the source record first, then update each status as the organizer confirms it. This prevents an old page or a social post from silently becoming your record of truth.

  1. Create an entry for the award year. Use the award body’s own year label rather than assuming it matches the calendar year in which the ceremony takes place. Save the official award page and, when available, the rules or eligibility page.
  2. Add expected and confirmed dates separately. Record a published date as confirmed; label an estimate or announced window as expected. If the organizer says nominations are coming “mid-November,” keep that wording as a window until it publishes a specific date.
  3. Enter nominees only from an official nominee page or announcement. Keep the announcement timestamp and note whether categories are complete. If a public-vote round produces finalists, label them finalists rather than replacing or relabeling the original nominees.
  4. Record voting as its own stage. Add the opening and closing times with their time zones, plus the voting method. If voting is not public, do not create a public-voting reminder or describe the process as a fan vote.
  5. Create a ceremony event with local time and UTC. Record the venue and city when published, and save the organizer’s livestream destination. If a calendar event is offered, use it as a convenience, but retain the official ceremony page as the source.
  6. Update the tracker after the ceremony. Replace “scheduled” with “held” only after the event occurs, then add winners from the official results page. Record the date that results were announced or the page was updated, which may differ from the ceremony date.
  7. Keep the old record when a page changes. Add a timestamped note or saved snapshot instead of overwriting the original announcement. This leaves a trace if dates, category labels, or results pages are revised.

Use consistent status labels so that a quick scan cannot confuse an upcoming milestone with a completed one. A practical sequence is: expected window, confirmed date, nominees announced, voting open, voting closed, ceremony scheduled, ceremony held, and winners published. Not every award uses every stage. Leave a stage out when the organizer does not have it rather than filling the gap with an assumption.

Which major video game award dates are currently confirmed?

There is no single universal video game awards calendar. The major examples below are at different stages of their 2026 cycles, so treat future events as scheduled and past events as completed rather than presenting them all as upcoming.

Award body 2026 milestone Status as of November 2, 2026 Official source to check
The Game Awards Ceremony scheduled for December 10, 2026, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Nominees are expected in mid-November. The opening act starts at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT. Ceremony and nominee announcement are upcoming; the nominee date is given as a window, not a specific day. The Game Awards homepage and FAQ
Golden Joystick Awards Nominees revealed September 25, 2026. Public voting closed at 4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET / midnight BST on October 23, 2026. Winners are scheduled to be revealed at a globally livestreamed ceremony on November 11, 2026. Voting is closed; the ceremony and winner reveal are upcoming. The official 2026 press release
BAFTA Games Awards The 2026 winners were announced at a ceremony on April 17, 2026, streamed through BAFTA’s YouTube and Twitch channels. BAFTA opened the 2027 awards entry cycle on August 11, 2026. The 2026 results are historical; the next entry cycle is already open. BAFTA’s winners announcement and 2027 entries announcement
Game Developers Choice Awards The 2026 ceremony was Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The ceremony has passed; use the official finalist portal for the event record. The official finalist portal

These examples are not a complete list of every regional, platform-specific, genre-specific, critics’, or audience award. They show why a tracker should be year-round: an award season can cross calendar years, and a new cycle can begin while the prior one is being archived.

They also illustrate why it is useful to track the stages separately. The Game Awards has a future nominee window and a confirmed ceremony date; Golden Joystick has published nominees and closed voting but has a future winner reveal; BAFTA has announced results while the next entry cycle is open; and the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony is a past event. A page that says only “2026 awards” would not tell a reader which of those states applies.

How should I handle time zones and dates?

Store the organizer’s published time and zone verbatim, then add a UTC conversion for your own planning. Keep the original zone in the record so that a conversion does not replace the official schedule or create confusion about the organizer’s stated date.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • For a ceremony, distinguish the local venue time from the time a viewer sees in another region. The Game Awards FAQ gives its opening-act time as 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT, alongside the December 10 date.
  • For voting deadlines, record every published time-zone equivalent. The Golden Joystick press release gives 4 p.m. PT, 7 p.m. ET, and midnight BST for its October 23, 2026 close; retain those published labels rather than silently rewriting the deadline.
  • For a date near midnight, preserve the organizer’s exact date wording and time zone. International conversions can fall on a different calendar day, so a date without its zone may not be enough to identify the deadline.
  • For calendar reminders, use the event’s stated time zone where the calendar supports it, and add a separate reminder before a voting close if you need one. Do not assume a ceremony calendar entry also covers a voting deadline.

A useful reminder system has at least two kinds of alerts: one for an action deadline, such as voting closing, and one for a viewing event, such as the ceremony. If the organizer supplies a calendar option, it can save setup time; The Game Awards homepage, for example, uses the call to action “ADD EVENT TO CALENDAR.” Still check what the event contains. A calendar listing is a scheduling aid, not a substitute for the award body’s nominee, voting, or results pages.

How do nominees, finalists, voters, juries, and winners differ?

Use the organizer’s label for each stage, because the words describe different outcomes. A nominee list identifies contenders; a public-vote finalist list may represent a later round; a jury or member vote reflects a different selection method; and only an official result establishes a winner.

Track the selection method alongside the category. Public-voted awards need a voting open and close record, while juried or developer-voted awards may have no public ballot for readers to participate in. A mixed process should be recorded as mixed rather than simplified to “fan choice” or “jury pick” without checking the rules.

Eligibility rules provide useful context when a game’s release timing seems unexpected. Record the published release window and cutoff, but do not infer an eligibility decision from a game’s launch date alone; the relevant award body’s current rules are the authority.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Selection method is also a useful comparison point when readers ask which awards reflect public opinion. A public vote records audience participation in the applicable ballot; a jury, member, or developer process reflects the method specified by that organization. Neither label alone establishes that one award is more authoritative overall. Compare the rules, eligibility, category, and published process rather than treating every award as if it measured the same thing.

Where should I verify current nominees and winners?

Start with the award body’s current-year page, rules, press room, finalist portal, or official results archive. A news recap can help you find a milestone, but the organizer’s own page is the authority for eligibility, nominees, winners, event logistics, and a changed schedule.

  • Check the year before the detail. A previous year’s winner page may remain prominent after a new cycle begins. Confirm that the page belongs to the year you are tracking.
  • Match the page type to the claim. Use the rules page for eligibility, the nominee page for contenders, the voting page for deadlines, the ceremony page for event logistics, and the winners archive for final results.
  • Check for revisions. Keep the page’s last-checked date in your tracker and note a change rather than assuming an earlier screenshot remains current.
  • Save the livestream destination separately. A ceremony date does not prove which service will carry it. Confirm the destination on the current official event or FAQ page.

When comparing award pages or third-party calendars, check more than how quickly a date appears in a search result. The useful questions are whether the listing links to the official source, whether its selection method is clear, whether it states the eligibility cutoff, whether dates include time zones, whether current and historical cycles are distinguishable, and whether it preserves nominee and winner archives. A calendar or reminder service may be convenient, but it is not an authority on a changed deadline unless it points back to the current organizer page.

Update speed and archive quality are different strengths. A current event page may be the quickest place to confirm a ceremony, while a dedicated results archive may be easier for checking past winners. Save both page types when they serve different purposes. Do not assume that an old official page is still the right current-season page simply because it is the first result you find.

What should I do after an award ceremony?

Close the event record with the official outcome, not with a recap of predictions or nominees. Mark the ceremony as held, enter results category by category, and preserve the original schedule and source page alongside the results.

  1. Open the official winners archive or the award body’s results announcement.
  2. Enter the official category name and winner or recipient exactly as published; add developer and publisher only where relevant and available.
  3. Record the announcement date and the date you checked the page. If the results appeared during the ceremony but the archive was updated later, keep those as distinct dates when the source establishes them.
  4. Store an archived copy or a brief dated note if the official page changes or is replaced by a new award-year page.
  5. Start the next award-year entry without deleting the completed one. BAFTA’s 2027 entries opening on August 11, 2026, while the 2026 winners had already been announced, is a concrete example of overlapping cycles.

Keep audience and voting figures attached to the exact year and source context. The Game Awards homepage presents 171 million livestreams as a headline about its 2025 show, while the Golden Joystick Awards’ 2026 press release describes the 2025 awards as receiving a record 21 million public votes. Those are distinct claims—viewing and voting—and neither should be carried over to another year or treated as a measure of an individual game’s award result.

Can one calendar cover every major game award?

A single calendar can hold reminders for many awards, but it cannot erase differences in schedules, eligibility rules, geography, or selection method. Major organizations do not share one universal nomination date or ceremony season: The Game Awards is scheduled for December 10 in 2026, while the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony took place on March 12, and BAFTA’s next entry cycle opened in August while its previous winners were already known.

Frequently Asked Questions

When are The Game Awards nominees announced?

As of November 2, 2026, The Game Awards homepage says 2026 nominees are coming in mid-November; it does not give a specific day in that announcement. Track the window as expected and confirm the official nominee page when it appears.

What date is The Game Awards, and where can I watch it live?

The 2026 ceremony is scheduled for December 10 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The FAQ says the show streams live across major streaming services, with the opening act starting at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT. Check the current official FAQ or event page for the viewing destination and any schedule updates.

Who won Game of the Year?

The answer depends on the award body and award year. A nominee list does not establish a winner; check the relevant organization’s official results archive and record its category name and award-year label.

When did Golden Joystick voting close in 2026?

Public voting closed on October 23, 2026, at 4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET / midnight BST. Winners are scheduled to be revealed at a globally livestreamed ceremony on November 11, 2026.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When are BAFTA Games Awards nominations announced?

The dates in this schedule do not establish a 2027 nominee-announcement date. BAFTA opened its 2027 awards entry cycle on August 11, 2026; check BAFTA’s current award-year pages for later nomination dates rather than treating the entries opening as a nominee announcement.

Are award nominee announcements always released all at once?

Not necessarily; some organizers may publish information by category or update a page after an initial announcement. Mark a nominee record as complete only when the organizer’s own page or announcement establishes that all relevant categories are included.

Can a calendar reminder tell me whether a livestream link is still current?

No. A reminder preserves a time, but a streaming destination can be published or changed separately. Reopen the current official event page or FAQ before the ceremony to confirm where the organizer says to watch.

What does it mean when an award says entries are open?

An open entry cycle is not the same milestone as announced nominees or an open public vote. Check the award body’s entry rules for who may submit and the applicable deadline before treating it as an audience action.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What are the major video game awards dates?

There is no shared calendar for every award body. As of November 2, 2026, The Game Awards is scheduled for December 10, Golden Joystick winners are due November 11, BAFTA’s 2026 winners were announced April 17, and the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony took place March 12. Confirm each milestone on its organizer’s current official page.

The Bottom Line

Build the tracker around official sources and separate statuses: nominees, voting, ceremony, and winners are different milestones. Keep the award year, eligibility rules, selection method, time zone, livestream, and last-checked date with each record. That turns a scattered awards season into a usable calendar without mistaking a nominee page for a final result.
