Google does not currently document a one-step import of VS Code settings, extensions, keyboard shortcuts, and snippets into the standalone Antigravity IDE. The reliable approach is to export your VS Code profile as a backup, inventory the customizations you actually use, and recreate compatible items in Antigravity manually. If you want Antigravity capabilities without leaving the VS Code editor, install Google’s Antigravity extension in VS Code instead.
First, identify which Antigravity experience you mean
“Antigravity” can refer to two different setups, and the migration answer changes depending on which one you want:
- Antigravity running inside VS Code: Google documents an Antigravity extension for VS Code. You keep the VS Code editor, its profile, and its normal extension and synchronization features, then add Antigravity capabilities through the extension.
- The standalone Antigravity IDE: This is a separate editor environment. Google’s reviewed documentation does not establish that it can consume a VS Code profile or bulk-import VS Code settings, extensions, keybindings, and snippets.
The distinction matters because installing the VS Code extension is not a migration of your VS Code customizations into the standalone IDE. It simply adds Antigravity functionality to the editor you already use.
What Google’s documentation actually confirms
An Antigravity extension is available for VS Code
Google describes Antigravity as a lightweight VS Code extension and provides installation guidance for the VS Code editor. The guide requires VS Code 1.90 or later and lists macOS, Linux, and Windows as supported operating systems. See the official Visual Studio Code extension guide.

This route preserves your existing VS Code environment. Your settings, keyboard shortcuts, snippets, profiles, and extensions remain VS Code customizations; the Antigravity extension does not turn them into a standalone Antigravity installation.
A separate migration flow is documented for Antigravity 1.0
Google’s Antigravity changelog mentions a migration flow that imports settings, extensions, and keybindings from Antigravity 1.0. The entry does not identify VS Code as the source. It also does not list snippets among the imported categories.
Therefore, do not treat that migration flow as a VS Code importer. It is a migration path for an earlier Antigravity setup, not documented proof that a VS Code profile can be opened by the standalone IDE.

Google’s extension overview does not add a VS Code profile importer
The Antigravity IDE extensions overview describes the extension and editor context. It does not establish a bulk conversion process for VS Code profiles, user settings, keybindings, snippets, or extension installations.
Choose the supported path before moving anything
| What you want | Documented path | What happens to your VS Code customizations |
|---|---|---|
| Use Antigravity features while keeping VS Code | Install the Antigravity extension in VS Code; VS Code 1.90 or later on macOS, Linux, or Windows is required. | Your VS Code profile remains the source of settings, shortcuts, snippets, and extensions. |
| Move to the standalone Antigravity IDE | Export a VS Code profile for backup and reference, then recreate compatible customizations selectively. | Google’s reviewed documentation does not establish a direct VS Code profile import; plan for manual work. |
| Move customizations from Antigravity 1.0 | Use the migration flow described in the Antigravity changelog. | The listed categories are settings, extensions, and keybindings; snippets are not listed. |
The second row is a practical fallback, not an officially supported bulk-import procedure. Treat every item you recreate as a compatibility decision rather than assuming that a VS Code extension or configuration file will work unchanged.
Back up your VS Code setup with a Profile
Before changing editors, make a recoverable record of the setup that already works. Microsoft’s Profiles documentation says a VS Code profile can include selected settings, keyboard shortcuts, snippets, tasks, MCP servers, and extensions. A profile is useful here as both a rollback point and a checklist.

- Open the VS Code Profiles editor. Use the Profiles interface rather than copying random files from your user directory. The editor is the place VS Code documents for creating, managing, saving, and importing profiles.
- Choose the profile that represents the setup you want to preserve. If you use different profiles for languages or projects, repeat the export for each profile that contains customizations you may need later.
- Save or export the profile. VS Code can save a profile locally as a
.code-profilefile. It can also share a profile through a GitHub Gist URL. Keep the local file somewhere outside the editor installation so it survives an uninstall or reset. - Record the date and purpose. Name the file so you know which machine, project type, or VS Code profile it represents. This prevents you from rebuilding from an outdated configuration after several rounds of changes.
- Open the saved profile once as a validation check. Confirm that the file exists and that the profile contains the categories you care about. The backup is valuable only if it can be retrieved when you need it.
VS Code can import a profile through the Profiles editor, but Microsoft’s documentation does not say that Antigravity can import a .code-profile file. Keep that boundary explicit: the file is a VS Code backup and reference artifact, not a confirmed Antigravity migration package.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesInventory the four categories separately
A profile export gives you a single record, but recreating a setup is easier when you divide it into decisions. Make four lists before opening the standalone IDE:
- Settings: note the preferences that affect editing, formatting, files, terminals, language tooling, and appearance. Separate settings that are personal preferences from settings tied to a particular project or machine.
- Extensions: record each extension you rely on and what job it performs. Mark extensions that are essential for editing or debugging separately from optional themes and convenience tools.
- Keybindings: identify shortcuts you use frequently and any conflicts that would make a replacement editor uncomfortable. Include custom commands as well as changes to built-in shortcuts.
- Snippets: list the languages, scopes, and templates that save you the most typing. Preserve the trigger text and the intended expansion so you can test each one after recreating it.
This inventory also reveals what does not need to move. A rarely used theme, a machine-specific path, or an extension tied to a project you no longer maintain may not justify manual reconfiguration.
Recreate customizations in the standalone Antigravity IDE
For a standalone move, use Antigravity’s own settings and extension mechanisms where the specific feature is available. Google’s reviewed sources do not document a VS Code import command for these four categories, so the steps below are a controlled manual migration rather than a claim of native compatibility.
1. Reapply settings selectively
Start with settings that affect correctness and daily workflow: formatting behavior, language support, file handling, and terminal preferences. Add visual preferences afterward. Copying every setting blindly can carry over paths, machine-specific values, or editor options that Antigravity does not recognize.

When a setting has no equivalent, leave it out rather than forcing a value into an unrelated configuration field. Keep the original VS Code profile available so you can look up the previous value without guessing.

2. Check each extension before installing it
Do not assume that an extension listed in VS Code will install or behave identically in the standalone IDE. Check whether the extension is offered through Antigravity’s extension mechanism and whether its documented host editor includes Antigravity. Install only the extensions that are available and relevant to the new environment.
Prioritize extensions by function:
- Language support and diagnostics that your projects require.
- Source-control, testing, or debugging integrations that are essential to your workflow.
- Formatting and linting tools whose configuration you can verify after installation.
- Themes and convenience extensions, which can be added after core tooling works.
If an extension is unavailable, look for the underlying command-line tool or language service only when Antigravity documents a supported integration. The existence of a VS Code package alone is not evidence of standalone compatibility.
3. Rebuild keybindings one group at a time
Begin with the shortcuts you use every day, then add less frequent commands. Test each binding immediately so conflicts are visible while you still remember the intended action. If Antigravity uses different command identifiers, map the action rather than copying a VS Code keybinding file verbatim.
Keep a copy of your original shortcuts in the exported profile. A shortcut that depends on a VS Code-only command cannot be made functional by changing its key combination alone; it needs an equivalent command in the destination editor.
4. Recreate snippets and verify their scope
Snippets are not listed among the categories in Google’s Antigravity 1.0 migration note, and no VS Code-to-Antigravity snippet importer is documented in the reviewed sources. Treat snippets as individual templates to recreate only where the standalone editor provides a compatible mechanism.
Move the most valuable snippets first. Test each trigger in the intended language context, confirm that placeholders expand correctly, and check that the template does not rely on a VS Code-specific variable or command. Keep the VS Code profile as the authoritative backup until every important snippet has been tested in a real file.

Use Antigravity inside VS Code if you need zero editor migration
If your goal is access to Antigravity features rather than a change of editor, the supported route is simpler:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Confirm that your installation is running VS Code 1.90 or later.
- Use the VS Code Marketplace to install Google’s Antigravity extension, following the VS Code extension guide.
- Keep using your existing VS Code profile, including its settings, extensions, shortcuts, and snippets.
- Test the Antigravity features in a project before changing profiles or removing other extensions.
This option avoids the compatibility questions of a standalone move because the editor, profile system, and extension host remain VS Code. It is the appropriate choice when preserving your current customization set is more important than changing the editor itself.
Understand what Settings Sync can and cannot do
VS Code Settings Sync is useful for keeping a VS Code setup consistent across VS Code installations. Microsoft’s Settings Sync documentation says it can synchronize user settings, keyboard shortcuts, snippets, extensions, and profiles.
Settings Sync still has important boundaries:
- You can exclude some settings from synchronization.
- Machine-scoped settings are not included.
- Extensions are not synchronized to or from remote windows such as SSH sessions, dev containers, or WSL.
- Synchronization remains a VS Code feature; it is not documented as a bridge into the standalone Antigravity IDE.
Use Settings Sync to maintain the VS Code side of your workflow, not as evidence that Antigravity will receive those items. If you install the Antigravity extension in VS Code, Sync can continue to serve its normal VS Code purpose. If you move to the standalone IDE, retain the exported profile and perform the destination setup separately.
A practical migration worksheet
The following sequence keeps the source recoverable and limits rework:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Decide the destination. Choose the VS Code extension path if you want Antigravity features without changing editors. Choose the standalone path only if you accept manual recreation.
- Freeze a source snapshot. Export the relevant VS Code profile to a
.code-profilefile and, if useful, save a GitHub Gist copy as an additional reference. - Classify the inventory. Separate settings, extensions, keybindings, and snippets. Mark each item as essential, useful, or disposable.
- Check destination support. For every extension or customization, look for an Antigravity-supported equivalent. Do not infer support from a VS Code listing.
- Apply core settings first. Recreate only values that have a clear destination equivalent, then open a representative project and verify the result.
- Add essential extensions. Install and test one functional group at a time so a failed integration is easy to identify.
- Rebuild shortcuts. Add daily keybindings, test conflicts, and then handle less common commands.
- Recreate snippets last. Start with high-value templates, verify language scope and placeholders, and keep the original profile until testing is complete.
- Keep both environments during a trial period. Do not delete the VS Code installation or profile until the projects you care about work in the destination editor.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Confusing the extension with an IDE migration
Installing Antigravity from the VS Code Marketplace gives you Antigravity functionality in VS Code. It does not copy your profile into a separate Antigravity installation. Decide which product context you are using before troubleshooting missing settings.

Using the Antigravity 1.0 migration note as a VS Code promise
The changelog’s migration entry names Antigravity 1.0 as the source and lists settings, extensions, and keybindings. It does not say that VS Code profiles are accepted, and it does not list snippets. Keep that migration flow separate from a VS Code-to-Antigravity plan.
Deleting the source profile too early
A standalone migration can expose unsupported extensions, renamed commands, or snippets that need adjustment. Keep the .code-profile file and the original VS Code installation until the destination has passed your project checks.
Assuming Settings Sync crosses products
Sync is valuable within VS Code, but its documented scope does not include importing data into Antigravity. Remote-window exclusions and machine-scoped settings also mean that a synchronized VS Code setup may not contain every value you expected.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Copying every setting without checking its scope
Machine paths and editor-specific options can be meaningless or harmful in a different environment. Recreate settings by purpose, verify the effect, and omit values that have no documented equivalent.
Verification checklist for a standalone move
- The exported VS Code profile opens or remains available as a readable backup.
- Essential language and project tooling is available in Antigravity or has a documented alternative.
- Formatting and diagnostics behave as expected in a representative project.
- Daily keybindings perform the intended commands without conflicts.
- High-value snippets expand in the correct language scope.
- Machine-specific paths and excluded settings have been reviewed rather than copied blindly.
- You can return to VS Code quickly if a required extension or customization is unavailable.
Bottom line
There is no documented bulk importer for moving all VS Code settings, extensions, keybindings, and snippets into the standalone Google Antigravity IDE. Export a VS Code Profile first, use it as your rollback and reference copy, and recreate supported customizations selectively. For the least disruption, keep the VS Code editor and install Google’s Antigravity extension instead. Treat the documented Antigravity 1.0 migration flow as a separate feature, not as a VS Code migration tool.
