Check whether the player is starting
Open MLB’s Starting Lineups page and select the matchup. Check both the listed starters and probable pitchers. MLB labels the information “Subject to change,” so check again near first pitch rather than treating an earlier listing as final.
If the player’s name is absent, the accurate conclusion is that they are not in the announced starting lineup. Do not treat that omission alone as confirmation of a full-game scratch or an injury.
Follow the game as it happens
Open the matchup in MLB Gameday in a browser, or follow it in the MLB app. MLB describes Gameday as providing live scores, a detailed play feed, box scores, highlights, and pitch-by-pitch Statcast data.

Once play begins, use the feed and box score to see recorded game events. If you are checking whether the player later appears, revisit those updates as the game progresses. The available MLB feature description does not promise that every status change will appear instantly.
Separate game activity from an availability update
A play feed or box score can show what happened in the game; it is not an injury diagnosis or an explanation of a player’s availability. For a confirmed reason the player is absent, look for an explicit report from the team or MLB. Avoid presenting speculation as confirmation.
