If your vivo Buds Ultra will not connect, one earbud will not charge, or audio plays through only one side, start with the reversible checks: reseat both earbuds in the case, make sure the contacts are clean and dry, then forget the Bluetooth entry and pair again. If those steps do not help, check whether another device is connected and test the earbuds with another app or phone before seeking service. vivo does not publish a Buds Ultra-specific reset sequence on the product page cited here, so do not assume a reset method from another model applies.
The order matters. A loose earbud, a low case battery, a stale Bluetooth record, or a phone accessibility setting can produce symptoms that look like hardware failure. Work from the least disruptive check to the most consequential one, and stop as soon as the problem is resolved.
What should I check first?
Use the symptom to choose the first checks, but begin with the case and earbuds: both earbuds need to sit correctly against their charging contacts, and moisture or debris can interfere with charging as well as playback. Do not start by forcing a reset; confirm the simpler causes first.

| What you notice | Start here | If it continues |
|---|---|---|
| The earbuds will not pair | Toggle Bluetooth off and on, forget the saved vivo Buds Ultra entry, then try pairing again with both earbuds seated in the open case. | Disconnect other connected devices, restart the phone, and repeat the forget-and-pair steps. |
| One earbud will not charge | Reseat it in its molded slot and check that the contact surfaces are clean and dry. | Charge the case, then contact vivo service if the earbud still is not acknowledged or charged. |
| Only one side plays audio | Reseat and briefly charge both earbuds, then remove them together and test stereo playback. | Re-pair, inspect the silent earbud’s speaker outlet, and check phone audio balance and accessibility settings. |
| A problem began after liquid exposure | Keep the earbuds and contacts out of the case until they are completely dry. | Seek service if charging or sound remains faulty. |
Work through the relevant steps in order. If a check fixes the issue, there is no need to continue to a more disruptive remedy.

How do I fix vivo Buds Ultra that will not connect?
Clear the phone’s saved pairing, make sure the earbuds are ready to pair, and remove competing connections before trying again. Buds Ultra supports switching between as many as three devices in Bluetooth mode, but an older connected host can still keep the phone you want from taking control.
- Bring the phone and case close together. Turn Bluetooth off on the phone, wait briefly, and turn it back on. Keeping the case open and nearby reduces the chance that the phone is scanning while the earbuds are out of range.
- Remove the old pairing. Open the phone’s Bluetooth settings, select the saved vivo Buds Ultra entry, and choose the option to forget or remove it. This clears the phone’s saved record so the next attempt starts fresh. Merely toggling Bluetooth usually does not remove a damaged or outdated host record.
- Prepare both earbuds. Put both in the case, check that they are seated, and open the lid. Start pairing from the phone. On supported vivo or iQOO phones, use the Bluetooth device panel or Connectivity Center. On other phones, vivo says its vEarphones app is required for supported advanced features; feature availability depends on phone compatibility.
- Disconnect other hosts. If a tablet or another phone has already connected to the earbuds, disconnect it before pairing or testing with the intended phone. You can also temporarily turn Bluetooth off on those nearby hosts to prevent an automatic reconnection.
- Retry after a restart. If pairing still fails, restart the phone and repeat the forget-and-pair sequence rather than repeatedly tapping a failed connection notification.
Multi-device connection management requires Android 13 or later or iOS 14.0 or later. Some management features also require a compatible vivo or iQOO phone and specified operating-system versions. A phone may therefore support basic Bluetooth audio without supporting every device-management feature. On a non-vivo/iQOO phone, install the vEarphones app when vivo specifies it for the feature you are trying to use, but do not assume the app is required for every basic Bluetooth audio function.
If the phone sees the earbuds but pairing does not complete, repeat the sequence with both earbuds in the case and the other hosts disconnected. If the phone does not find them at all, verify Bluetooth is enabled and that the case is close before repeating the attempt. Do not treat a factory reset as the default next step: the public Buds Ultra product information does not give a model-specific reset procedure.

What if Buds Ultra keeps switching to another device?
Disconnect the unwanted phone, tablet, or computer first, then retry from the intended host. The three-device capability is designed for connection management and switching, not proof that three sources can play simultaneously. A previously connected host can continue to claim the earbuds even when the target phone is in pairing mode.
Why is one vivo Buds Ultra earbud not charging?
First check seating, contact cleanliness, dryness, and the case battery. An earbud that is slightly out of position or has a dirty contact may not charge reliably even when it appears to be inside the case.

- Reseat the earbud in its molded slot. Confirm that it sits fully in place and look for the case to acknowledge it. If it rocks, sits high, or does not appear to make contact, remove it and place it back carefully.
- Inspect the contacts. Check both the case contacts and the earbud’s charging pad for visible debris, wax, lint, or residue. Compare the silent side with the working side so you can spot a difference.
- Clean gently and dry. Use a dry lint-free cloth or dry cotton swab only. Keep liquid away from openings, and do not put a damp earbud into the case. Do not scrape the metal contacts with a pin, blade, or other sharp object.
- Check the case’s power. If its battery may be low, charge it by USB-C. Leave the earbud in the case for a while before testing it again; an immediate removal may not give a deeply discharged earbud enough time to recover.
- Test the case itself. If cable charging is available, use it to rule out a poorly positioned wireless pad. A case that cannot hold power may fail to charge either earbud even when the contacts are clean.
The case also supports wireless charging. vivo says a wireless charger is not included as standard equipment, so wireless charging requires a compatible pad you already have or obtain separately. A product described as a wireless charging pad for vivo Buds Ultra is an optional accessory category, not an item supplied in the box. When diagnosing a charging fault, USB-C cable charging is the simplest baseline because it removes pad alignment and compatibility from the test.
If the case does not acknowledge an earbud after reseating and cleaning, or the earbud remains uncharged after the case has power, avoid scraping contacts or probing the charging area. Continued failure after these checks is a reason to contact vivo service rather than risk damaging the contacts.

Try the working earbud in its normal slot and then reseat the problem earbud in that same slot only if the design allows you to do so without forcing it. More generally, compare the case’s response to each earbud, inspect both sets of contacts, and charge the case by USB-C. If one side is consistently not acknowledged while the other charges normally, document that pattern for service. Do not bend contacts or attempt to bridge them.
How do I fix audio playing through only one earbud?
Reseat and charge both earbuds, then test them together before assuming one has failed. If the silent side remains silent, re-pair the set and check for a blocked speaker outlet or a phone setting that shifts audio to one side.
- Return both earbuds to the case. Reseat them until each makes contact, then leave them charging briefly. This also gives the case a chance to recognize both sides and re-establish their state.
- Remove both together. Play audio and check whether stereo sound returns. Removing only one side can leave the phone in a single-ear state during troubleshooting.
- Rebuild the Bluetooth connection. Forget the vivo Buds Ultra entry in the phone’s Bluetooth settings and pair again using the normal pairing process. Re-pairing can rebuild the stereo connection when the saved host record is stale.
- Inspect the quiet side. Look at its speaker outlet for wax or debris. Clean gently with a dry tool; do not push a sharp object into the grille or add liquid. A blocked outlet can make an otherwise connected earbud seem dead.
- Rule out a phone-side setting or app issue. Check the phone’s audio balance and accessibility settings, then try another app or a second device. If the earbud works elsewhere, the original phone, app, or balance setting is the more likely cause.
- Compare repeatability. Note whether the same physical side is silent every time or whether the silent side changes. A changing side points more toward pairing, seating, or phone configuration; a consistently silent side after clean charging and re-pairing deserves service evaluation.
If the same earbud is still silent after charging, gentle cleaning, and re-pairing, the fault may need service. Because the exact Buds Ultra reset procedure is not established in the cited public information, verify the correct procedure for your regional model with its manual or vivo service before trying a button sequence.

How do I reset vivo Buds Ultra?
The available public Buds Ultra product information does not publish a model-specific factory-reset sequence. Do not assume that a button hold described for a different vivo TWS model is safe or correct for Buds Ultra.
A vivo TWS support FAQ for a different model describes holding the case function key for 15 seconds, with both earbuds in the open case, until the orange light flashes rapidly. That FAQ also describes a five-second function-key hold for pairing a replacement earbud with an existing one. Those are not confirmed Buds Ultra instructions; verify the method against the manual for your exact regional model or with an official vivo service center before using it.
For ordinary connection trouble, forgetting the saved Bluetooth entry and pairing again is the supported first-line approach. It is distinct from a factory reset: it clears the phone’s saved pairing, but does not establish that the earbuds have been restored to factory defaults. A reset may also remove device relationships or settings, so it should be reserved for a confirmed procedure when simpler steps have failed.
Could moisture or dust be causing the problem?
Possibly. vivo rates the Buds Ultra earphones IP54 under IEC 60529, but that rating applies to the earbuds, not the charging case. It is not a guarantee against all water or dust exposure, and protection can decline with normal wear. IP54 should not be interpreted as permission to submerge the earbuds, wash the case, or charge them while wet.
If the earbuds or contacts are wet, dry them completely before putting them in the case. Wipe external moisture with a dry, lint-free cloth and allow the earbuds to dry naturally. Do not use liquid to clean the charging contacts or speaker outlet, and do not use repeated charging attempts to see whether a wet earbud recovers. Persistent charging or audio problems after liquid exposure warrant service rather than further experimentation.

How should I interpret the battery-life figures?
vivo’s laboratory figures are 50 hours of total music playback with the case, 11 hours on a single charge, and two hours of playback from a five-minute charge. These are test results, not a runtime guarantee for every listening session.
vivo measured those figures using MP3 looping at 50% volume, AAC, ANC disabled, and controlled room-temperature conditions. Actual playback can vary with software, device condition, ANC use, codec, volume, temperature, and battery aging. If your runtime differs from the laboratory figures, compare your own listening conditions before treating the difference as evidence of a fault. A short top-up that produces less than the laboratory two-hour figure does not by itself prove a defective battery when ANC, louder volume, a different codec, or cold conditions are involved.
When should I stop troubleshooting and contact vivo?
Escalate to an official vivo service center when an earbud is still not acknowledged after clean, dry reseating and a charged case; when one side remains silent after charging, cleaning, checking balance, and re-pairing; or when the problem follows liquid exposure. Service is also the safer route for damaged contacts, a loose physical component, unusual heat, or a case that will not charge.
Before contacting support, record which side fails, whether the case recognizes it, whether USB-C charging changes anything, the phone and operating-system version, and whether another device produces the same symptom. This gives the technician a reproducible description without requiring you to perform an unverified reset. Exact replacement-earbud availability and regional pricing are not established in the cited public pages, so ask vivo directly rather than relying on a price or pairing procedure from another market.
Which remedy is safest for each symptom?
| Symptom | Reversible remedy | Accessory or compatibility issue | Escalation point |
|---|---|---|---|
| No pairing | Toggle Bluetooth, forget the entry, reseat both earbuds, and pair again. | Disconnect other hosts; advanced management may require Android 13+, iOS 14+, or a compatible vivo/iQOO phone. | Restart and repeat once; then seek support if the phone still cannot pair. |
| One earbud not charging | Dry reseating, contact inspection, gentle dry cleaning, and case charging. | Use USB-C to rule out wireless-pad alignment; the pad is optional and not included. | Service if the case never acknowledges that side. |
| One-ear audio | Charge both, remove together, re-pair, inspect the outlet, and check balance settings. | Test another app or phone to separate a host setting from an earbud fault. | Service if the same side remains silent. |
| Liquid or physical damage | Dry completely and avoid charging while wet. | IP54 applies only to the earbuds and may decline with wear. | Official service if symptoms persist. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can vivo Buds Ultra play audio from three devices at the same time?
vivo describes support for connecting to and switching between up to three devices in Bluetooth mode. That does not establish simultaneous playback from three sources; treat the feature as device switching, not a promise of mixed or concurrent audio.

Can I use vivo Buds Ultra without the vEarphones app?
The app requirement in vivo’s guidance concerns supported advanced features on non-vivo/iQOO phones, and the experience depends on phone compatibility. The available information does not say that the app is required for every basic Bluetooth audio function.
Why does my phone keep reconnecting to another device?
Disconnect the other phone, tablet, or computer and temporarily turn off Bluetooth on that host. Buds Ultra can manage up to three Bluetooth devices, but an old host can still take control when it reconnects automatically.
Can I pair a replacement vivo Buds Ultra earbud myself?
The cited vivo TWS FAQ gives a replacement-earbud procedure for a different model, not a confirmed Buds Ultra procedure. Ask vivo service or consult the manual for your regional Buds Ultra model before attempting replacement pairing.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Is the vivo Buds Ultra wireless charging pad included?
No. vivo confirms that the case supports wireless charging but says the wireless charger is not included as standard equipment. USB-C charging is the simplest diagnostic baseline.
Does IP54 protect the charging case?
No. The IP54 rating applies to the earphones only, under IEC 60529. The case is not covered by that rating, and earbud protection can decrease with wear.
Why is my battery life lower than 11 hours?
The 11-hour single-charge figure and 50-hour case-inclusive figure come from controlled testing with MP3, AAC, 50% volume, ANC disabled, and room-temperature conditions. ANC, codec, volume, temperature, software, device condition, and battery aging can reduce actual runtime.
What should I do if one side is silent after cleaning and re-pairing?
Check the phone’s balance and accessibility settings, test another app or device, and then contact an official vivo service center if the same physical earbud remains silent. Do not use an unverified reset sequence.
The Bottom Line
Most vivo Buds Ultra problems can be narrowed down without a reset: reseat both earbuds, keep contacts clean and dry, charge the case, forget the old Bluetooth record, and pair again with other hosts disconnected. Use USB-C charging to rule out wireless-pad issues, remember that IP54 covers the earbuds rather than the case, and treat vivo’s battery figures as laboratory references. If one side still will not charge or play, verify the exact regional procedure with vivo instead of applying instructions from another TWS model.
