If iCloud Notes are not appearing on every device, check the same three things first: each device must use the same Apple Account, Notes syncing must be enabled in iCloud on each device, and the Notes app must be showing its iCloud folder. Then use iCloud.com/notes to see whether the notes exist in iCloud at all. If notes are still missing on an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro, Apple’s Notes-specific guidance is to restart the device, confirm the sync setting again, and allow time for synchronization to finish. Mac menu names vary by macOS version, and older operating systems can be incompatible with upgraded iCloud notes.
What does iCloud Notes syncing require?
iCloud Notes appears on a device only when that device is connected to the intended Apple Account, Notes is enabled for iCloud, and the Notes app is displaying the iCloud section. A note saved in a different account or only on a device is not automatically part of the iCloud Notes view.
- One Apple Account: Apple says every device should be signed in to the same Apple Account.
- Notes enabled in iCloud: The Notes switch must be on for each iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Vision Pro you want to keep current.
- The correct folder selected: In Notes, look under the iCloud heading and choose All iCloud or a specific iCloud folder.
- A web cross-check: Signing in at iCloud.com/notes shows whether the notes are available through iCloud outside the affected device.
Apple documents these requirements in its guide to setting up iCloud Notes across devices: Set up iCloud for Notes on all your devices.
How can I tell whether the problem affects one device or the whole account?
Compare the iCloud folder on each device with the Notes web app. This does not identify the underlying cause by itself, but it tells you where to concentrate the remaining checks.

(The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)

Apple describes the web check and device setup in its iCloud Notes documentation: Keep your notes up to date and share them with iCloud.
How do I turn on iCloud Notes on an iPhone or iPad?
On an iPhone or iPad, enable Notes under the device’s iCloud settings, then select the iCloud folder in Notes. The labels can include “See All” or “Show All,” depending on the system version.
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top to open your Apple Account settings.
- Tap iCloud.
- Tap See All or Show All to display the complete list of apps using iCloud.
- Tap Notes.
- Turn on Sync this iPhone or Sync this iPad, using the label shown on that device.
- Open the Notes app. In the folder list, choose All iCloud or open a folder beneath the iCloud heading.
If Notes was already enabled, switch attention to the account and folder checks rather than creating another note immediately. A note in an “On My iPhone” location or in another account is not the same as a note in the iCloud section.
For a device that still does not show previously synced notes, Apple’s specific troubleshooting article covers iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro. Its sequence is to restart the device, verify the “Sync this” setting again, and allow synchronization to complete. Apple says previously synced iCloud content should then appear: If you don’t see your iCloud notes in the Notes app.

- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
How do I enable iCloud Notes on a Mac?
The exact menu path depends on the macOS release. Start from Apple menu > System Settings > your name > iCloud, then use the path that matches the installed version.
| macOS version | Where to find Notes | Setting to enable |
|---|---|---|
| macOS 15 or later | Under Saved to iCloud | Open Notes and turn on Sync this Mac. |
| macOS 13.3 through macOS 14 | Under Apps Using iCloud | Open Notes and turn on Sync this Mac. |
| macOS 13 through 13.2 | In the iCloud app list | Turn on Notes. |
- Choose the Apple menu and open System Settings.
- Select your name, then select iCloud.
- Locate Notes using the row for your macOS version.
- Enable the Notes setting shown above.
- Open the Notes app and expand its sidebar if necessary.
- Look for the iCloud section and select it or one of its folders.
Do not use the macOS 15 wording as a guide on every Mac: Apple changed the grouping and labels across these releases. Apple’s Mac-specific notes documentation lists the version differences and the older-system limitation: About using iCloud Notes on Mac.
What should I do if notes are still missing on an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro?
After confirming the account, switch, and iCloud folder, follow Apple’s Notes-specific restart sequence for those mobile devices. It is intentionally short because the documented remedy is to make the device reconnect to the already configured iCloud Notes service.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Restart the affected iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro.
- After it starts again, open its iCloud settings and verify that Sync this iPhone, Sync this iPad, or the corresponding device setting is still enabled.
- Open Notes and select All iCloud or an iCloud folder.
- Leave the device connected and allow synchronization time to finish before judging the result.
Apple states that previously synced iCloud content should appear after this sequence, but it does not promise that restarting repairs every possible missing-note case. The guidance applies specifically to iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro, not as a universal Mac procedure. See Apple’s article If you don’t see your iCloud notes in the Notes app.

How do I check iCloud Notes in a browser?
The browser check separates an account or upload question from a device-display question. If the note is visible on the web, iCloud has it; if it is absent from the web, the device may not have stored it in iCloud or you may be checking a different account.
- Open iCloud.com/notes in a browser.
- Sign in with the same Apple Account used on the device where the notes should appear.
- Open the Notes web app and inspect the available folders and notes.
- Compare the web folders with the iCloud section in the device’s Notes app.
This check is useful even when only one device appears broken. A note shown on the web but absent in one app points you back to that app’s account, sync setting, folder, or operating-system compatibility. Apple documents iCloud.com access in Keep your notes up to date and share them with iCloud.
Why are notes missing when iCloud is turned on?
Turning on iCloud generally is not enough if Notes itself is disabled, the device uses another Apple Account, or the app is displaying a non-iCloud folder. The Notes app can contain notes stored in locations other than iCloud, so the visible list depends on the folder you selected.

Notes syncing is disabled even though other iCloud services work
iCloud services have individual controls. Recheck the Notes entry itself: on iPhone or iPad, use Settings > your name > iCloud > See All/Show All > Notes; on Mac, use the version-specific path in the table above.
The Notes app is showing the wrong section
In Notes, select All iCloud or an individual folder below the iCloud heading. Looking only at a device-local folder can make a correctly synced note seem to have disappeared.
Apple explains the account, Notes switch, and iCloud-folder requirements in Set up iCloud for Notes on all your devices and its Mac guide at About using iCloud Notes on Mac.
Can an older operating system use upgraded iCloud Notes?
Not always. Apple says upgraded iCloud notes cannot be accessed on devices running older than OS X 10.11, iOS 9, or iPadOS 13. Compatibility therefore matters when the problem appears only on an older Mac, iPhone, or iPad.

| Device software | Apple’s stated threshold for upgraded iCloud Notes |
|---|---|
| Mac | OS X 10.11 or later |
| iPhone | iOS 9 or later |
| iPad | iPadOS 13 or later |
Apple also notes that notes created or edited on those older systems will not appear on devices using upgraded notes. This can produce an apparent one-way mismatch: newer devices may contain upgraded notes that the older device cannot read, while work done on the older device may not show on the newer upgraded-notes view. The compatibility details are in About using iCloud Notes on Mac.
What if the checks do not restore synchronization?
Use the checks in a fixed order so you do not mistake a folder problem for a cloud outage or an old-system limitation.
- Identify the account: verify the same Apple Account on every device and at iCloud.com.
- Verify the Notes switch: enable Notes in iCloud on each affected device, using the correct iPhone, iPad, or Mac path.
- Inspect the folder: select All iCloud or a folder under iCloud in Notes.
- Use the browser comparison: check whether the expected notes exist at iCloud.com/notes.
- Restart only the documented mobile targets: for iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro, restart, recheck the switch, and wait for synchronization.
- Check compatibility: compare an older device with Apple’s OS X 10.11, iOS 9, and iPadOS 13 thresholds for upgraded notes.
Apple’s published Notes guidance does not provide a Notes-specific resolution for notes that are absent from iCloud.com, nor does it document an additional escalation procedure after the restart and settings checks fail. That limit is important: these steps can locate many account, folder, settings, and compatibility mismatches, but they should not be presented as a guaranteed repair for every missing-note scenario.

- Every device uses the same Apple Account.
- Notes is enabled in iCloud on every device that should receive the notes.
- The Notes app is open to All iCloud or an iCloud folder.
- The notes are visible at iCloud.com/notes, or you have established that they are not currently available there.
- For iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro, a restart was followed by another setting check and enough time for synchronization.
- An older Mac, iPhone, or iPad meets Apple’s compatibility threshold for upgraded notes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do some notes appear on my iPhone but not in All iCloud?
Those notes may be saved in a device-only location or under a different account rather than in iCloud. The iCloud folder view shows only notes belonging to the iCloud collection, so compare the folder heading before changing synchronization settings.
What happens when an older device edits a note after newer devices use upgraded notes?
Apple says notes created or edited on systems older than OS X 10.11, iOS 9, or iPadOS 13 will not appear on devices using upgraded iCloud notes. A mismatch can therefore be caused by the note format and operating-system generation, not just a disabled switch.
What does it mean if the notes are missing from iCloud.com too?
The available Apple instructions do not document a Notes-specific fix for notes absent from the web app. First make sure the browser session uses the same Apple Account and that you are checking the expected folder; do not assume that a note visible only in a device-local folder was uploaded to iCloud.
Does the Mac troubleshooting path depend on the macOS release?
Yes. macOS 15 and later place Notes under “Saved to iCloud,” macOS 13.3 through 14 use “Apps Using iCloud,” and macOS 13 through 13.2 use the Notes switch in the iCloud app list. Selecting the wrong path can make an enabled setting difficult to find.
