A blank earbud-case screen does not necessarily mean the display is broken. First check whether the case is charging, then inspect its charging contacts and the earbuds’ seating. Cable compatibility and reset steps vary by model, so use the instructions for your exact case before attempting a reset or arranging service.
1. Check the case’s power and charging setup
- Connect the case to a compatible power source. Use a cable known to work and a charger or USB port suitable for the case. If possible, verify the cable and power source by charging another device, then reconnect the case and check for an indicator or screen response.
- Allow time for a deeply depleted battery. An indicator may not appear immediately if the battery is very low. Xiaomi advises charging REDMI Buds 6 Lite earbuds for at least 30 minutes to activate them; that model-specific guidance is not a universal charging time for other cases. - Check cable compatibility rather than assuming all USB-C cables work. HONOR notes that certain charging-case models may not work with E-mark USB-C cables. Try a compatible cable specified for your product; a different cable is useful only if it matches the case’s charging requirements. See HONOR’s charging guidance.
If the case still gives no sign of power with a compatible setup, continue with a careful contact inspection before concluding the display itself has failed.
2. Inspect and clean charging contacts carefully
Look for lint, dirt, corrosion, visible damage, or pins that appear pushed down at the case’s charging port, case pins, and earbud contacts. Debris or poor contact can prevent charging, which may leave the case or earbuds unresponsive.
- Remove loose debris gently. Xiaomi suggests using a cotton swab on contacts; HONOR recommends a soft cloth, dry or lightly dampened with alcohol.
- Keep liquid out of the charging port. Do not use a water-wet cloth, scrape with a sharp object, pry at the port, or force a pin. HONOR warns that forceful cleaning can deform contacts.
- Stop if you see corrosion, a bent or collapsed pin, or other physical damage; further cleaning may make it worse.

3. If the screen works but the earbuds do not charge
Check that the case itself has power, the contacts are clean and dry, and each earbud sits correctly so its charging contacts meet the case pins. These are the checks recommended by soundcore.

For a new pair, inspect the earbud contacts for protective film. On products it covers, the film can block pin contact; JBL lists the Tour Pro 2 among the products addressed in its charging troubleshooting guidance. Remove film only if it is clearly present and intended to be removed. This check addresses charging contact, not a damaged case display.
4. Reset only with the procedure for your exact model
Reset instructions are not interchangeable between brands or models. Find the case’s model name and follow its official manual or support page. For example, Xiaomi’s procedure for REDMI Buds 6 Lite is to place both earbuds in the case, open the lid, and hold the function key for 10 seconds until the case light flashes three times. Xiaomi says this clears connection records and returns the earbuds to pairing mode; it is not a general reset sequence for other products. See the Xiaomi FAQ.

5. When to stop troubleshooting and contact support
If a compatible cable and power source, careful contact checks, and the correct model-specific reset do not restore charging or response, contact the manufacturer’s official support or service channel for the product and market. Xiaomi directs customers to after-sales processing when its listed checks fail, while HONOR recommends a customer service center for persistent problems.
Do not open a case containing a lithium battery or attempt undocumented display, battery, or circuit-board repairs. The available manufacturer guidance does not establish a universal screen-repair method or diagnose the cause for an unidentified model. Check the product’s warranty terms with its manufacturer before paying for repair or replacement.
