PlayStation Gift Card Code Won’t Redeem? Fix the Error

First check the code type and length: a PlayStation Store voucher code has 12 digits, while a 10-digit discount code is entered during checkout. If the code is a 12-digit voucher, check that its region matches your PlayStation account, then look for expiry, activation, account restrictions, or a previous redemption. Use the error code to narrow down the cause before contacting the retailer or PlayStation Support.

1. Confirm the code type and enter it carefully

PlayStation Store voucher codes contain 12 digits. A 10-digit discount code is different: enter it at checkout when making a purchase, not in the standard voucher redemption field. See PlayStation’s voucher redemption instructions.

For a physical card, reveal the full scratch-off code carefully and check each digit before entering it. If the code is damaged or unclear, avoid repeated guesses; keep the card and proof of purchase for the retailer or PlayStation Support.

2. Check that the voucher region matches your account

The voucher must be for the same country or region as the PlayStation account redeeming it. A flag or regional marking on a physical card may help identify its intended region. PlayStation says an account’s region cannot be changed after setup, so trying another console or redemption screen will not resolve a mismatch. Check the official voucher guidance for details.

3. Check expiry, availability, restrictions, and service status

Read the voucher for an expiration date and any usage or age restrictions. Error E-82000133 means the voucher has expired or is not yet available; PlayStation advises checking that the code was entered correctly and that it is available and eligible for use. See the E-82000133 support page.

Before trying again, check the PlayStation Status page for a service issue. If no network problem is shown, sign out of PlayStation and sign back in to refresh the account, then try once more.

4. Verify activation and whether the code was already redeemed

Some retail vouchers need to be activated at the register when purchased. If the code came from a store or is printed on a receipt, ask the retailer to confirm activation; the retailer may also be able to recover a receipt-printed code.

If PlayStation says the voucher was already redeemed, check transaction details and the accounts associated with the console. A voucher is single-use, and funds or content redeemed to one account cannot be transferred to another. PlayStation’s redemption guidance explains how to review transaction details.

5. Check whether the account can use this voucher

Eligibility depends on the voucher and region. PlayStation’s Australian voucher troubleshooting guidance says wallet top-up vouchers cannot be redeemed on child accounts. It also notes that some subscription vouchers require valid credit or debit card details, and age restrictions can apply to content. Check the terms for the specific voucher and the support page for your region.

6. Match the error code to the likely cause

Error text can help distinguish a region, validity, or previous-redemption issue. PlayStation’s error index and support pages may be updated, so compare the complete code on your screen with the current official guidance.

7. Contact the right support team

Receipt-printed code or possible register activation problem: contact the retailer and ask them to confirm activation or recover the code.
Other damaged voucher or persistent failure: contact PlayStation Support using the support options for your region.

Have the purchase date and retailer name available. Keep the receipt and voucher; PlayStation may ask for proof of purchase and images of both sides. If the code was redeemed to the wrong account, do not assume the balance or content can be moved.
