If you see a DoorDash order you did not place, report it to DoorDash and separately contact the bank, card issuer, or payment provider that processed the charge. First check whether the charge covers multiple nearby orders; then try cancellation if the order is still eligible, secure any potentially affected accounts, and keep records of every report.

1. Check whether the order and charge are actually unfamiliar

Open DoorDash order history and review the receipt for each order. Compare those details with the amount on your payment statement. DoorDash may combine multiple orders placed close together into one charge, so a statement total may not correspond to one order. See DoorDash’s combined charges guidance for how to review the itemized breakdown.

If you find an order you do not recognize in your account, treat it as possible unauthorized account use. If the statement charge is unfamiliar but no matching order appears, include that discrepancy when contacting DoorDash and your payment provider.

2. Report the order to DoorDash and try cancellation

If you can access the account

  1. Open the order in DoorDash order history and use its order-help flow to report the problem.
  2. If the order is still active, try DoorDash’s self-help cancellation tool. DoorDash says cancellation may not be available once the merchant has confirmed the order; an attempt does not guarantee the order can be stopped or refunded. See DoorDash’s cancellation guidance.
  3. If the available options do not address unauthorized use, contact DoorDash through the current official consumer support options and provide the order details.

If you cannot access the account or the help flow does not resolve it

Use DoorDash’s official support site rather than relying on contact details from an unfamiliar message or search result. DoorDash lists chat and phone support as available 24/7 and publishes 855-431-0459 on its Customer Support page. Check that page for current contact options.

DoorDash eGift Card
  • Get thousands of restaurants, convenience stores, pet stores, grocery stores, gifts, and more at your fingertips.
  • Easy ordering, order customizations, and real-time tracking
  • Pickup, group order, and scheduled delivery options available
  • No returns and no refunds on gift cards.

3. Contact the payment provider separately

A report to DoorDash and a payment dispute are separate steps. Contact the bank, credit union, card issuer, or other provider that processed the transaction, explain that you did not authorize it, and ask what dispute procedure applies. Ask whether the card or payment credential should be locked or replaced. Do not assume DoorDash’s handling of the order automatically disputes the transaction with your provider.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau advises reporting unauthorized transactions promptly. Protections and deadlines differ based on payment type and circumstances; follow your provider’s instructions. Its guidance on unauthorized transactions explains why quick reporting matters.

If the charge is on a credit card

For a credit-card billing error, the CFPB says to call the issuer promptly and send a written billing-error notice within 60 calendar days after the charge appeared on the statement to preserve the rights described in its credit-card billing-error guidance. This is a specific credit-card notice rule, not a universal deadline for every payment type or fraud situation. Follow the issuer’s instructions about where and how to submit the notice.

If the charge is on a debit card or another payment type

Report it promptly to the institution or provider that handled the payment and ask which rules and steps apply. Do not apply the credit-card notice deadline to a debit transaction, bank transfer, or other payment method.

4. Secure accounts that may be affected

If someone may have accessed your DoorDash login, email, or payment information, secure each potentially affected account using that provider’s official account controls. If you cannot sign in or cannot find the right security option, contact that provider’s official support channel. DoorDash’s support page provides its current consumer support routes; the available information does not establish a specific password-reset or session-revocation sequence.

5. Keep a record of the incident

Save the order details, receipts, relevant statement entries, DoorDash support case information, and any written dispute notices. Note the dates and outcomes of calls, and keep copies of correspondence. The CFPB recommends maintaining written records and tracking follow-up calls in its guidance on documenting communications.

6. Escalate if there are signs of broader identity theft

One unfamiliar food order does not by itself prove that your identity has been stolen. If other personal or financial accounts were also compromised, contact affected financial institutions’ fraud departments, close affected accounts where appropriate, and report the broader identity theft at IdentityTheft.gov. The CFPB says the site can provide an Identity Theft Report and recovery plan.
