How do I use PS5 Safe Mode to repair a stuck Cyberpunk download?
Use Safe Mode when the download remains stuck after service, network, restart, storage and license checks. PlayStation’s download guidance points to clearing the cache and rebuilding the database for persistent PS5 download problems. This is a console-maintenance step, not a replacement for the disc or firmware procedures described later.

- Turn the PS5 off completely. Do not leave it in Rest Mode.
- Press and hold the console’s power button. Release it after the second beep; the second beep occurs several seconds after the first.
- Connect the DualSense controller to the PS5 with a USB data cable. A charge-only cable may not provide the wired connection Safe Mode requires.
- Press the controller’s PS button when prompted.
- Select Clear Cache and Rebuild Database, then follow the on-screen instructions. Allow the process to finish without powering off the console.
- Restart normally, open Downloads/Uploads and retry Cyberpunk 2077.
Safe Mode also offers Repair Console Storage and Update System Software, but those options belong to different recovery branches. Use Repair Console Storage when the console indicates a storage problem, and use Update System Software when the stuck item is PS5 firmware rather than the game patch. Selecting an unrelated option can add time without addressing the actual queue item, so read the item name first.
A USB data cable for the DualSense is relevant here because Safe Mode needs the controller connected by USB. It is not a fix for a normal game-download queue by itself. Keep the cable attached until the selected operation and the restart are complete.

The data-disc requirement is easy to miss because both discs belong to the same retail package. If the Store does not show the no-cost claim, verify the disc currently inserted before changing network settings or deleting anything. Check the CUSA code and region when the console appears to recognize the game but does not offer the PS5 version.
A PS5 Digital Edition, a digital purchase and a native PS5 copy do not use the data-disc/play-disc step. What if the stuck item is a PS5 system-software update?
