Letterboxd does not provide a native “Export to PDF” button. To create a complete, clean PDF, download your account export from Settings → Data → Export your data, open the relevant CSV in a spreadsheet, format the columns, and export or print the sheet as a PDF. For a quick visual copy of a short, already-loaded page, use your desktop browser’s Print → Save as PDF command instead.
What is the best way to export a Letterboxd list or diary to PDF?
Use the CSV-to-spreadsheet method for a long list or a complete diary. Letterboxd’s documented export is a ZIP archive containing CSV documents, so this route gives you the underlying rows rather than whatever happens to be visible on one web page. Browser printing is faster for a short list, but pagination, filters and lazy loading can leave entries out.

- Wait for every row you need to appear. Remove filters that would hide films, and scroll through the page if more items load as you move down.
- Open your browser’s print command, usually Ctrl+P on Windows or Cmd+P on macOS.
- Choose Save as PDF or Microsoft Print to PDF as the printer.
- Choose portrait or landscape orientation. Landscape is usually safer when film details extend across several columns.
- Adjust scale, margins and page range. Turn on Background graphics only when you want poster images or colored page elements.
- Save the file, open it, and inspect the first, middle and last pages. Confirm that film titles, dates and any poster areas are present.
Why can browser printing miss films?
A Letterboxd page can use pagination, active filters or lazy loading. Printing captures the document state that exists at that moment; it does not guarantee that every page of a long list or diary has been loaded. A blank poster area can also result when background graphics are disabled or an image had not finished loading.

How do I download the official Letterboxd export?
Letterboxd says the account export bundles your account data, including lists and diary-related records, into one ZIP file of CSV documents. The exact wording of the menu can change slightly, but the path is:
- Sign in to Letterboxd.
- Open your account Settings.
- Open the Data area.
- Choose Export your data and request the export.
- Download the ZIP when it is available and keep the original ZIP as a backup.
- Make a working copy, then unzip that copy locally.
The archive can contain more files than you need. Identify the CSV for the list or diary records you want to publish. Use the column names actually present in your export rather than assuming every account has identical fields.
How do I turn a Letterboxd CSV into a polished PDF?
Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc and similar spreadsheet programs can all open a CSV and export or print it to PDF.

For a list, useful fields commonly include film title, release year, rating, position, tags and notes when those columns are present. For a diary, retain film title, watched date, rating, rewatch indicator, review and tags when present. Keep the original CSV unchanged so you can recover fields later.
2. Add document context
Insert a title at the top, the account or list name, the export date and a short note such as “Generated from Letterboxd CSV data.” This prevents a detached PDF from being mistaken for a live Letterboxd page.

3. Format the worksheet for paper
- Use landscape orientation for wide tables.
- Fit columns to one page wide where practical, without shrinking text to unreadable size.
- Repeat the header row on every printed page.
- Set sensible margins and add page numbers if your spreadsheet supports them.
- Insert page breaks between major sections or years.
- Wrap long reviews and notes instead of allowing them to run outside the page.
- Choose one date format and apply it to the entire document.
4. Export and verify
- Use File → Export/Download → PDF, or the spreadsheet’s print dialog and a PDF printer.
- Open the resulting PDF in a viewer.
- Check the first, a middle and the last page for clipped columns, missing rows and unexpected blank areas.
- Search for a film near the end of the dataset. Finding it confirms that the sheet was not truncated during export.
Can I export a Letterboxd diary to PDF if films were only marked watched?
Only recorded dates can be shown reliably. Letterboxd distinguishes films logged to the Diary from films marked watched; for watched-only activity, the account export may include activity dates in the relevant CSV. Letterboxd’s import guidance refers to renaming that CSV’s Date column to Watched Date for importing. For your PDF, retain that date field and label it clearly.
If an activity has no recorded date, do not invent one from the order of entries or from the film’s release year. Leave the date blank or explain that no activity date was stored.
How should I choose between a visual page PDF and a data PDF?
Choose based on what the recipient needs rather than on the file extension.
- Choose browser printing when appearance matters, the page is short and all desired entries are visible.
- Choose CSV-to-PDF when completeness, sorting, filtering, page numbering or a repeatable handout matters.
- Use a hybrid when you need a complete table plus a cover page or screenshots of the Letterboxd profile for visual context.
A data PDF is usually easier to search and audit. A visual PDF better preserves the site’s layout, but it can include navigation, profile details or other page elements that do not belong in a handout.
What privacy checks should I make before sharing the PDF?
Public Letterboxd content can be viewed by visitors, while private lists are not publicly visible. A PDF is a separate, portable copy, so review it even when the original page had restricted visibility.

- Confirm that every list or diary entry included is intended for the audience.
- Check that dates use one consistent timezone and format.
- Verify that film titles are not truncated by narrow columns.

What should I do if the PDF is incomplete or malformed?
Missing films in a browser PDF
Return to the page, remove filters, wait for all rows to load and scroll through the full list before printing. For very long pages, switch to the CSV method.
Columns are clipped
Use landscape orientation, widen the affected column, wrap text and set the sheet to fit one page wide. Do not force the entire document onto one page tall; that can make the text unreadable.
Posters or colors are blank
Enable background graphics in the print dialog and confirm that images finished loading before you print. If visual assets are optional, disable them and use a simpler text-first layout.

The diary has no dates
Check whether the entries were marked watched rather than logged. Preserve the exported date field when it exists; an absent activity date cannot be reconstructed reliably.
The PDF contains private information
Return to the spreadsheet copy, delete sensitive columns or rows, export again and inspect the final PDF. Do not rely on the visibility settings of the original Letterboxd page once the PDF has been downloaded.

No. A PDF is a point-in-time copy. Re-export the CSV or print the page again after changes; a captured image or PDF does not stay linked to the live list.
Can I keep clickable film links in the PDF?
Spreadsheet programs may preserve hyperlinks when exporting, but behavior depends on the program and the imported CSV fields. Test a link in the finished PDF before distributing it.
Does the account export include deleted reviews or films?
Letterboxd describes the account export as including deleted content and reviews for deleted films. Whether a particular field appears still depends on the CSV document and record available in your export.
