To download photos that Samsung Gallery synchronized to the cloud, use OneDrive: open the OneDrive app, choose Photos or the folder containing your Gallery media, select the files, tap Download, and confirm Save. On a computer, sign in to OneDrive on the web, select files or folders, and choose Download; a multi-file selection arrives as a .zip archive.
There is an important deadline. Samsung says the direct Gallery integration is ending on September 30, 2026. Download originals to your device before then if you need a local, full-resolution copy. Existing files remain in OneDrive, but new phone photos should be protected with OneDrive camera-roll backup after the direct integration stops.
What does “Samsung Cloud” mean for Gallery photos now?
For current Galaxy phones, “Samsung Cloud photos” usually refers to media synchronized by Samsung Gallery with OneDrive rather than a separate Samsung photo-download library. The Gallery app presents the connection, while OneDrive stores and serves the files. That is why the reliable download path is the OneDrive app or OneDrive website.
The exact Gallery label varies. You may see Sync with OneDrive or Cloud sync under Gallery > Menu > Settings. Availability depends on your Galaxy model, carrier, software version, and market. The connection is for a personal Microsoft account; work and school accounts are not supported for this Gallery link.

Samsung’s support guidance says the feature is ending on September 30, 2026. Microsoft’s guidance adds that new users could no longer create a Samsung Gallery link from May 1, 2026. If your account was already linked, your existing OneDrive files remain available in OneDrive, but the native Gallery view and direct two-way synchronization change after the September deadline.
How do I download Samsung Gallery photos to a Galaxy phone or tablet?
Use the OneDrive mobile app to copy selected cloud files back to the device. Samsung says a file saved this way becomes visible in the Gallery app.
- Open OneDrive on the Galaxy phone or tablet that uses the linked Microsoft account.
- Tap Photos, or browse to the OneDrive folder that contains the synchronized Gallery media.
- Press and hold a photo or video to select it. Add more items if you want a batch.
- Tap the Download icon. If the icon is not visible, open the three-dot menu and choose Download.
- Confirm Save when OneDrive asks where to place the file.
- Open Samsung Gallery and check the recent items. Samsung says downloaded files appear there after saving.
This route downloads the cloud copy currently held in OneDrive. If you need the camera’s full-resolution file rather than a device-optimized copy, use Gallery’s Download originals command while the integration controls are still available.

In OneDrive, select multiple files before tapping Download. Keep the app open until the transfer and save operation finishes, especially for a large selection or when the phone is on a metered connection. For a very large library, downloading in date or folder-sized batches makes it easier to verify that every group completed.
How do I save Samsung Gallery photos to Windows, macOS, or another computer?
The OneDrive website is the simplest computer method and does not require the Gallery app to be installed on the computer.

- Open the OneDrive website in a browser and sign in with the personal Microsoft account linked to Samsung Gallery.
- Open Photos or the folder where your Gallery files are stored.
- Select one file, several files, or an entire folder.
- Choose Download from the toolbar or context menu.
- Choose a local save location if the browser asks.
- If you selected more than one item, open the downloaded

Downloading a folder is useful when your OneDrive organization already separates years, devices, or albums. A browser download can take time for a large folder; do not close the browser or put the computer to sleep until the transfer has finished.
How can I download full-resolution originals before September 30, 2026?
Use Samsung Gallery’s Download originals feature while the OneDrive connection controls are present. This places the full-resolution photos and videos on the Galaxy device, giving you a local copy independent of the future Gallery integration.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Open Gallery.
- Tap Menu, then Settings.
- Open Sync with OneDrive or Cloud sync.
- Look for Download originals and start the download.
- Keep the phone connected to power and Wi-Fi if the library is large.
- After completion, check several older and newer items in Gallery and copy the local files to a computer or USB-C flash drive if you need a second physical backup.
Samsung states that photos and videos already stored through Gallery sync remain in OneDrive after the feature ends. The reason to download originals now is control: a local copy is available even if the Gallery view, account link, or future backup setup does not behave as expected.
What changes after Samsung Gallery sync ends on September 30, 2026?
Direct Gallery-to-OneDrive synchronization stops on that date. Existing files are not automatically erased from OneDrive, but Samsung Gallery will no longer provide the same native view and two-way sync behavior.
What happens to photos already in OneDrive?
Microsoft says photos already stored in OneDrive remain accessible through OneDrive. You can continue to download them from the mobile app or website, organize them into folders, and share them using OneDrive’s normal controls.

How do I back up new Galaxy photos afterward?
Microsoft directs existing linked users to OneDrive camera roll backup for continued backup after September 30, 2026. Camera-roll backup is a OneDrive feature rather than the former Samsung Gallery integration, so review its setup in the OneDrive app and confirm that it is backing up the device folders you care about.
Can a new user still link Samsung Gallery?
Microsoft says new users could no longer establish the Samsung Gallery link beginning May 1, 2026. A missing link option on a recently configured account may therefore be a service-policy change rather than a phone defect.
Which download method should I choose?
The best route depends on whether you need a few files, a complete archive, or an ongoing backup.
| Method | Device | Best for | Original quality | Works after September 30, 2026? | Key requirement |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| OneDrive app download | Galaxy phone or tablet | Individual photos, videos, or small batches | Downloads the file stored in OneDrive; use Gallery’s Download originals for full-resolution local copies | Yes, for files that remain in OneDrive | Personal Microsoft account and OneDrive app access |
| OneDrive website download | Windows, macOS, Chromebook, or another computer | Folders and larger collections | Downloads the files in OneDrive; multiple selections are packaged as a .zip |
Yes, for existing OneDrive files | Browser sign-in and enough local disk space |
| Gallery Download originals | Galaxy phone or tablet | Preserving full-resolution local copies before the integration ends | Full-resolution originals according to Samsung’s feature description | The command may not remain after the integration ends | Gallery still showing the OneDrive sync controls and sufficient device storage |
| OneDrive camera-roll backup | Galaxy phone or tablet | Backing up new camera photos after the change | Not stated as a Gallery-sync download method; verify the files in OneDrive | Yes, as Microsoft’s recommended post-change backup route | OneDrive backup configured for the personal account |
Why is “Sync with OneDrive” missing from Samsung Gallery?
A missing control does not have one universal cause. Check eligibility and timing before treating it as a software failure.
The account is a work or school account
The Gallery connection supports personal OneDrive accounts only. Sign out of an organizational account in the connection flow and sign in with a personal Microsoft account. If your organization manages the phone or blocks personal cloud services, an administrator policy may prevent the link.

Your model, carrier, software, or market differs
Samsung and Microsoft both qualify availability by Galaxy model, carrier, software version, and market. Install the latest software offered for your model, restart the phone, and check Gallery > Menu > Settings again. A feature documented for one region or edition may not appear on another.
The account is new after the cutoff
Microsoft says new Samsung Gallery links were no longer available from May 1, 2026. In that situation, use OneDrive camera-roll backup for new images and access older synchronized files directly in OneDrive.
The app is showing a temporary connection error
For the message “Something went wrong,” Microsoft recommends closing the app, restarting the connection, and granting every permission requested by the setup flow. If the error persists, Samsung directs users to its support service because the failure may involve the device-specific Gallery integration.
What limits can prevent a complete photo download or backup?
- Files larger than 4 GB: Microsoft says the Gallery connection cannot upload files larger than 4 GB automatically. Upload those files manually to OneDrive if you need them in the cloud.
- Two-way deletion: While the Gallery link is active, deleting a synchronized item in Gallery or OneDrive can delete it from the other location and from other synchronized devices. Do not delete a cloud file until you have confirmed a separate copy.
- Recycle Bin window: Samsung says deleted OneDrive photos remain in the Recycle bin for 93 days and can be restored. Treat that as a recovery window, not permanent backup.
- Cloud capacity: Samsung documents 5 GB of free OneDrive storage. A large camera library can exceed that allowance, preventing new uploads until you free space or use additional storage.
- Device storage: Download originals consumes local phone or tablet storage. Check available space before starting a whole-library download.
- Browser archives: Multi-file computer downloads arrive as a
.zip; the archive itself needs free space in addition to the extracted photos.
How do I avoid losing photos while disconnecting or changing backup?
Separate preservation from cleanup. First create and verify a copy, then change synchronization settings or delete anything.

- List the dates, albums, and videos that matter most, including items not visible in the phone’s current Gallery view.
- Use Download originals on the Galaxy device while it is available, or download the corresponding OneDrive folders to a computer.
- Make a second copy on another local disk or a compatible USB-C flash drive for Android phones. Check the drive’s connector, capacity, file system, and Galaxy compatibility before transferring.
- Open samples from different years and confirm that videos play and photos have the expected resolution.
- Only after verification, disconnect the Gallery link, remove duplicate files, or change backup settings.
- Keep the OneDrive copy until the local and secondary copies are complete. Because synchronization can propagate deletions, do not use Gallery or OneDrive as a temporary staging area for files you have not verified.
How do I recover a photo deleted during synchronization?
Check OneDrive’s Recycle bin first. Samsung’s stated retention period is 93 days for deleted OneDrive photos.

- Open OneDrive on the web or in the app and go to the Recycle bin.
- Find the photo or video and choose Restore.
- Wait for the item to return to its OneDrive location, then check the Gallery or folder view.
- If the item is older than the 93-day window, look for the local copy created with Download originals, a computer download, or a separate USB backup.
Do not empty the Recycle bin while investigating a missing file. A permanent deletion removes the available OneDrive recovery path.
How much storage do I need for a local archive?
Measure the OneDrive library size before choosing a destination. Samsung documents 5 GB of free OneDrive storage, but the size of your actual photo collection may be smaller or larger than that allowance. A computer should have room for the downloaded files, any .zip archive, and the extracted copy.
For a phone-only workflow, download in batches and confirm each batch before starting the next. For a long-term archive, a computer plus a second local device is easier to audit than one phone’s internal storage. A USB-C flash drive can move files directly from many Android phones, but connector type, capacity, formatting, and model support vary, so verify those specifications for your Galaxy device.
What should I do today if I have a large Samsung photo library?
Start with the irreplaceable files, then work through the rest by date or folder.
- Sign in to OneDrive and confirm that the expected Gallery folders and recent photos are present.
- On the Galaxy device, check whether Gallery > Menu > Settings > Sync with OneDrive or Cloud sync still exposes Download originals.
- Download originals to the phone or download OneDrive folders to a computer, depending on available storage.
- Handle any files over 4 GB manually because the Gallery connection does not upload those automatically.
- Verify samples from old, recent, and video-heavy folders.
- Set up OneDrive camera-roll backup for new photos if you will continue using OneDrive after September 30, 2026.
- Keep at least one independent copy before deleting, unlinking, or reorganizing synchronized items.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download videos from the same OneDrive location as photos?
Yes. The OneDrive app and website selection process covers synchronized videos as well as still images. Very large videos need special attention: Microsoft says files over 4 GB are not uploaded automatically through the Gallery connection, so those may need a manual OneDrive upload before they can be downloaded from the cloud.
What happens if my browser downloads a ZIP instead of individual pictures?
That is expected when you select multiple items on the OneDrive website. Extract the ZIP with your computer’s built-in archive utility, then open a few files from the extracted folder before deleting the archive.
Can I keep using Samsung Gallery after the OneDrive integration ends?
You can continue using Gallery to view photos stored locally on the Galaxy device. What changes is the direct Gallery-to-OneDrive connection; cloud copies remain in OneDrive, and Microsoft recommends camera-roll backup for new photos.
Is the OneDrive Recycle bin a substitute for a backup drive?
No. Samsung’s documented recovery period for deleted OneDrive photos is 93 days. A local or secondary copy protects you from synchronized deletions and from files that pass beyond that recovery window.
