The right way to deploy Anthropic Claude is to choose a managed cloud route based on who operates inference, how applications authenticate, where requests are processed, which Claude versions are available, and how billing and compliance are handled. Amazon Bedrock provides an AWS-operated Claude path through Bedrock APIs. Google Cloud Agent Platform exposes Claude as a fully managed, serverless API. Microsoft Foundry lets you deploy Azure-hosted or Anthropic-hosted Claude models behind Azure-native endpoints. These options are not interchangeable: Bedrock uses Converse or InvokeModel, Google uses the Agent Platform API, and Foundry exposes an Anthropic-compatible Messages endpoint. The steps below show how to select, provision, secure, call, and troubleshoot each route without assuming that a model name, region, quota, or preview feature will remain unchanged.
Which cloud route fits your Claude deployment?
Start with the operating model rather than the model name. Decide whether your organization requires the cloud provider to operate inference, whether Anthropic may operate the service, which identity system your workloads already use, and what geographic or compliance boundary applies.
| Route | Who operates the inference service | API surface | Identity | Important geography or compliance notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Bedrock | AWS | Bedrock Converse and InvokeModel | AWS IAM and SigV4 | AWS-managed quotas; AWS compliance coverage applies where the service and configuration qualify. |
| Claude Platform on AWS | Anthropic | Anthropic Messages API | AWS IAM/SigV4 or an Anthropic API key | Anthropic-managed quotas; this third-party service is outside standard AWS compliance programs. |
| Google Cloud Agent Platform | Managed Claude API operated through Google Cloud’s control plane | Agent Platform API, including server-sent-event streaming | Google Cloud project and IAM controls | Serverless; Google documents operation within its FedRAMP High authorization boundary for Claude on Agent Platform. |
| Microsoft Foundry, Azure-hosted | Anthropic-operated service on Azure infrastructure | Anthropic-compatible Messages endpoint | Azure API key or Microsoft Entra ID | Global Standard or US Data Zone Standard hosting options. |
| Microsoft Foundry, Anthropic-hosted | Anthropic infrastructure | Anthropic-compatible Messages endpoint | Azure API key or Microsoft Entra ID | Global Standard hosting option. |
Choose Bedrock when AWS-operated inference, AWS as the sole data processor, or AWS compliance programs are requirements. Choose Claude Platform on AWS when Anthropic’s platform features and Messages API matter more than AWS-operated inference. Choose Agent Platform when you want a serverless Google-managed API and do not want to provision model-serving infrastructure. Choose Foundry when Azure resource governance, Azure networking, Marketplace billing, API keys, or Entra ID are central to your architecture.
How do I deploy Claude on Amazon Bedrock?
Bedrock deployment consists of selecting an AWS Region and Claude model, granting the calling workload least-privilege IAM permissions, and sending requests through Bedrock’s Converse or InvokeModel APIs. You do not deploy a virtual machine or manage model servers; AWS manages the Bedrock service and its quotas.

What should I prepare before using Bedrock?
- An AWS account with a Region that supports the Claude model you intend to use.
- A workload identity, such as an IAM role, that can call the required Bedrock runtime actions.
- A decision about whether to call a direct model identifier or an inference profile supported in that Region.
- Application controls for timeouts, retries, token limits, logging, and spend monitoring.
Model catalogs, access workflows, and regional availability change. Check the current Bedrock console and documentation immediately before production rather than copying a model identifier from an old example.
What are the Bedrock deployment steps?
- Select the account and Region. Use the AWS account that will own billing and governance, then select a Region permitted by your data-residency requirements and supported by the Claude model.
- Enable access where required. In the Bedrock console, locate the Claude model and complete the current access or enablement workflow if AWS requires one for that model or account.
- Create least-privilege IAM permissions. Give the application role only the Bedrock runtime actions and resources it needs. Keep administrative model-management permissions separate from the permissions used by production applications.
- Choose the invocation target. Use the exact model identifier or inference profile shown for the selected Region. Pin that value in configuration so a catalog change does not silently move traffic.
- Call the model. Use the Bedrock Converse API for the supported conversational request shape, or InvokeModel when the selected model and integration require the lower-level request format.
- Observe and tune. Record request failures, latency, input and output token usage, throttling, and spend. Compare observed traffic with the AWS-managed quota for the account and Region.
How does an application authenticate to Bedrock?
Applications normally use AWS IAM credentials and SigV4 signing through the AWS SDK or an AWS-supported client. Prefer short-lived credentials from an IAM role, workload identity, or compute service rather than embedding access keys in source code. A private application can keep the same IAM boundary while moving between supported AWS compute environments.
What should I do when Bedrock returns throttling or access errors?
- Access or authorization error: verify that the account has enabled the model, the call is going to the intended Region, and the IAM policy covers the exact runtime operation.
- Throttling: inspect the account and Region quota, reduce burst concurrency, add bounded exponential backoff, and request a quota change if the workload is stable and eligible.
- Model not found: recheck the current model identifier, inference profile, Region, and any version-specific availability shown in the console.
- Unexpected cost: inspect token usage and retries, then set application-level budgets and alarms in addition to AWS billing controls.
Is Claude Platform on AWS the same as Amazon Bedrock?
No. They are separate offerings with different operators, APIs, quota owners, and compliance implications. Confusing them can put a workload in the wrong data-processing or authentication model.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

Use Claude Platform on AWS when you specifically need the Anthropic Messages API or an Anthropic-operated service accessed through AWS. Use Bedrock when AWS operation and AWS compliance scope are more important. Treat migration between them as an API and governance change, not a simple endpoint replacement.
How do I use Claude through Google Cloud Agent Platform?
Google Cloud documents Claude on Agent Platform as a fully managed, serverless model API. You provision a Google Cloud project and permissions, select a supported Claude model from Model Garden, and send requests to the Agent Platform endpoint; Google states that you do not provision or manage model-serving infrastructure.
What are the Google Cloud prerequisites?
- A Google Cloud project that will own access controls and billing.
- The relevant Agent Platform services enabled for that project.
- IAM permissions for the people, service accounts, or workloads that will invoke Claude.
- A supported Claude model and Region confirmed in the current Model Garden entry.
- Decisions about request logging, retention, quotas, and streaming behavior.
What are the deployment steps on Agent Platform?
- Create or select the project. Use a project with the correct billing account, organizational policies, and data-governance controls.
- Enable the required services. Turn on the Agent Platform APIs and any dependent services identified by the current Google Cloud setup instructions.
- Grant IAM access. Give the invoking principal only the permissions needed to call the selected managed model. Use service accounts for workloads rather than distributing user credentials.
- Open Model Garden. Find the Claude model card and confirm the model version, supported Region, request limits, and any preview label before selecting it.
- Send API requests. Configure the Agent Platform endpoint in the Google Cloud client or HTTP integration. For streaming responses, consume the documented server-sent-event stream and handle disconnects explicitly.
- Configure operations. Monitor quota consumption, errors, latency, token use, billing, and logs. Revalidate the model card when changing Regions or versions.
How does Google Cloud billing and logging work?
Google documents two capacity patterns: pay-as-you-go usage and a fixed fee for provisioned throughput. The applicable price depends on the model, request volume, and capacity choice, so obtain the current model-specific figures from Google Cloud before committing to a budget. Agent Platform also documents optional request-response logging for prompt and completion activity for a 30-day period. Enable it only when the operational or audit benefit justifies the additional handling of sensitive content, and align the setting with your retention policy.

What compliance boundary does Google document?
Google states that Agent Platform access to Claude meets FedRAMP High requirements and operates within the Google Cloud FedRAMP High authorization boundary. That statement does not remove the need to verify your exact Region, logging configuration, identity setup, and contractual obligations before placing regulated data in the service.
How do I deploy Claude in Microsoft Foundry?
Foundry has two distinct levels: a resource holds security and billing configuration, while a deployment is the model instance that applications call. You must create or select the resource first and then deploy a Claude model with a hosting option, scope, version, target URI, and key.
What must be decided before creating a Foundry deployment?
- Whether the model should be hosted on Azure infrastructure or on Anthropic infrastructure.
- Whether the deployment should use Global Standard or, for Azure-hosted models, US Data Zone Standard scope.
- Whether applications will authenticate with an API key or Microsoft Entra ID.
- Whether access should be restricted with an Azure Virtual Network.
- The deployment name that application code will pass as the
modelvalue.
What are the Foundry portal steps?
- Create or select a Foundry resource. Confirm the subscription, resource group, Region, billing ownership, and network policy.
- Configure access. Choose API-key access, Entra ID access, or both according to the application’s identity model. If needed, add a Virtual Network restriction.
- Open model discovery. In the Foundry portal, go to Discover > Models and select the Claude model that matches the workload.
- Start a custom deployment. Choose Deploy > Custom settings. On the first deployment, accept the applicable Azure Marketplace terms.
- Set deployment properties. Enter a deployment name, select Global or the permitted US Data Zone scope, and choose the model version and hosting option.
- Deploy and inspect details. After provisioning, open the deployment’s Details tab and record the target URI and key. The deployment name is the value applications send as
model. - Test with a controlled request. Validate authentication, response format, timeout behavior, and network reachability before connecting production traffic.
What endpoint and headers does Foundry use?
Use the deployment target URI in this form: https://{resource}.services.ai.azure.com/anthropic/v1/*. API-key requests can use the api-key or x-api-key header. Entra ID requests use an Azure-issued token and the required scope documented for the deployment. Keep the resource name, deployment name, endpoint, and credential source in managed configuration rather than source code.
What is the difference between Azure-hosted and Anthropic-hosted Foundry models?
Azure-hosted deployments run an Anthropic-operated service on Azure infrastructure and support Global Standard and US Data Zone Standard. Anthropic-hosted deployments run on Anthropic infrastructure and support Global Standard. The hosting label is therefore a material data-flow and geography decision; review the current Foundry terms and data-processing documentation instead of assuming that every Foundry deployment is processed identically.
Where does Claude inference run on each cloud?
The cloud control plane, the inference operator, and the physical processing geography are related but not identical. A provider console or endpoint does not by itself prove every data flow, so use the current service terms and deployment record for contractual decisions.
| Deployment | Operational interpretation | What to verify before launch |
|---|---|---|
| Bedrock | AWS operates the Bedrock inference path. | Supported Region, model availability, AWS data-processing terms, and compliance scope. |
| Claude Platform on AWS | Anthropic operates the Claude service accessed through AWS. | Anthropic terms, quota ownership, API-key policy, and the fact that standard AWS compliance programs do not cover it. |
| Agent Platform | Claude is exposed as a Google-managed serverless API. | Model-specific Region, project controls, logging, retention, quotas, and the applicable Google authorization boundary. |
| Foundry Azure-hosted | Anthropic operates the service on Azure infrastructure. | Global versus US Data Zone scope, Region behavior, network restrictions, and current Foundry hosting terms. |
| Foundry Anthropic-hosted | Anthropic infrastructure hosts the deployment. | Global Standard scope, Anthropic processing terms, and organization-specific residency requirements. |
How should identity, secrets, and network controls be designed?
Identity is a first-order architecture choice, not a deployment detail. Match the provider’s native control to the workload’s existing security boundary.

AWS workloads
Use IAM roles and SigV4 through the AWS SDK wherever possible. Separate deployer permissions from runtime permissions, deny unused Regions, and rotate or eliminate long-lived access keys. A role attached to a workload can call Bedrock without exposing credentials to application users.
Google Cloud workloads
Use project-level IAM and service accounts for automation. Grant the smallest permission set that permits Agent Platform invocation, and separate development, staging, and production projects when different retention, billing, or organizational policies apply.
Azure workloads
Use Entra ID when central identity, conditional access, and managed identities are priorities. API keys are useful for compatible clients but require secret storage, rotation, and leakage monitoring. If a deployment is reachable only through a Virtual Network, test DNS, routing, firewall rules, and private-client connectivity before diagnosing the model itself.
Recommended Free Tools
All providers
- Store secrets in the provider’s secret-management service, never in repositories or container images.
- Pin the model identifier, deployment name, and endpoint in version-controlled configuration.
- Set request timeouts and bounded retries; do not retry non-retryable authentication or validation errors.
- Redact prompts and completions from application logs unless the logging purpose and retention are approved.
- Track input and output token usage, concurrency, error rates, and latency by environment.
How do regions, model versions, quotas, and previews affect deployment?
These values are volatile. AWS, Google Cloud, and Foundry can expose different Claude versions, aliases, Regions, capacity modes, or preview labels at different times. A configuration that works in a tutorial may fail because a model is unavailable in the selected Region or because a preview ended.
- Record the exact model ID or Foundry deployment name used by each environment.
- Record the Region, data-zone scope, and hosting option alongside that identifier.
- Check the provider catalog immediately before each production release.
- Load-test against the quota actually assigned to the production account or project.
- Design a controlled fallback path rather than silently substituting a different Claude version.
Do not treat a friendly model alias as a permanent contract. A pinned identifier makes changes visible, while an explicit compatibility test tells you whether a new version preserves tool use, streaming, context limits, and response formatting required by your application.
How do Claude deployment costs and capacity differ?
All four routes are usage-sensitive, but the billing unit and capacity controls are provider-specific. The table describes the documented pattern rather than a universal price.

| Route | Billing or capacity model | Operational implication |
|---|---|---|
| Bedrock | AWS pricing with AWS-managed quotas | Budget for token usage and monitor account or Region throttling; confirm current model pricing in AWS. |
| Claude Platform on AWS | Anthropic pricing and Anthropic-managed quotas | Do not assume Bedrock quota or compliance behavior applies. |
| Agent Platform | Pay as you go or fixed-fee provisioned throughput | Choose based on traffic predictability and required capacity; verify model-specific rates. |
| Foundry | Azure Marketplace billing using Claude Consumption Units | Keep Azure subscription, deployment scope, and consumption monitoring aligned with the application budget. |
Calculate more than the nominal generation price. Include retries, streaming disconnects, idle provisioned capacity, observability, network egress where applicable, and the cost of duplicate staging environments. Set alerts before traffic arrives, because a successful deployment can still exceed budget through an unexpectedly high token rate.

How do I troubleshoot a failed Claude deployment?
The model is listed but deployment is unavailable
Confirm the selected Region, hosting option, account or subscription eligibility, Marketplace terms, and whether the model is preview-only. A model can be visible in a catalog while unavailable for a particular scope or identity.
Authentication succeeds but requests are rejected
Check that the endpoint matches the resource and deployment, that the deployment name is passed as the model value where required, and that the request uses the correct API surface. Bedrock Converse requests are not interchangeable with an Anthropic Messages request, even when both invoke Claude.
Requests time out or stream incompletely
Inspect client and proxy timeout values, maximum response size, idle connection limits, and retry behavior. For Agent Platform server-sent events, treat a dropped stream as an incomplete response and implement an application-level recovery path rather than blindly duplicating a non-idempotent request.
Traffic is throttled after a successful pilot
Production concurrency is often much higher than a functional test. Compare request bursts and token rates with the assigned quota, add backoff and queueing, and request additional capacity through the provider’s current process.

Can I move a Claude application between clouds?
Portability is possible at the prompt and application layers, but each provider exposes a different control plane. Bedrock uses Converse or InvokeModel, while Claude Platform on AWS and Foundry use Anthropic-style Messages APIs; Agent Platform has its own Google Cloud endpoint and IAM model.
What should be abstracted?
- Provider client initialization and credential acquisition.
- Model identifier, deployment name, Region, and endpoint configuration.
- Streaming adapter and retry classification.
- Usage-metric extraction and cost attribution.
- Provider-specific error mapping and throttling behavior.
What should remain provider-specific?
Keep IAM policies, Entra scopes, Google project permissions, Bedrock inference-profile selection, Foundry hosting scope, and provider compliance evidence in separate modules. A thin adapter prevents application code from assuming that a quota, token field, or error code has the same meaning everywhere.
Which cloud is best for Claude?
There is no universal winner. Bedrock is the strongest fit when AWS must operate inference and provide its documented compliance coverage. Claude Platform on AWS is the fit for Anthropic-operated access through AWS when that service’s API or features are the priority. Agent Platform is the simplest operational model when a Google-managed, serverless API and Google project governance fit your environment. Foundry is the natural choice for Azure-centric organizations that need Azure resource governance, Entra ID, Virtual Network controls, or a deliberate choice between Azure-hosted and Anthropic-hosted Claude. Recheck current model catalogs, Regions, quotas, prices, and preview status immediately before launch, then record those choices as part of the deployment configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the same Claude API key on AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure?
No. Each route has its own authentication boundary. Bedrock normally uses AWS IAM and SigV4, Agent Platform uses Google Cloud project and IAM controls, and Foundry uses an Azure API key or Entra ID; a credential from one provider should not be copied into another integration.
Does serverless Claude mean my application has unlimited capacity?
No. Serverless removes responsibility for model-serving machines, but the managed API still has quotas, concurrency limits, request limits, and possible regional restrictions. Capacity planning and backoff remain application responsibilities.
Should I choose Global Standard or a US data zone in Foundry?
Use the scope that matches the contractual and residency requirement documented for your workload. US Data Zone Standard is available for Azure-hosted deployments; Anthropic-hosted deployments support Global Standard, so the hosting decision constrains the geography choices.
What evidence should I give a security or compliance reviewer?
Provide the resource and deployment configuration, operator and hosting option, Region or data-zone scope, identity method, network controls, logging and retention settings, model version, quota plan, and the provider’s current data-processing and compliance documentation.
