To create a Skyborne in World of Warcraft: Forever, purchase the Skyborne Heroic Pack (or a higher qualifying upgrade) on the WoW account you will play, install WoW: Forever in Battle.net, select a Ruleset and faction, choose an allowed class, customize the character, and reserve a regionally unique name. The early reservation window is open as of October 29, 2026, but it is not live-game access: launch is announced for November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST. You can reserve up to three characters across all Rulesets through November 3. A WoW subscription or Game Time covers access at launch but does not unlock Skyborne by itself.
Can I create a Skyborne before WoW Forever launches?
Yes. Blizzard’s early name-reservation period lets eligible purchasers create characters and secure names before launch. The reservation period is separate from playing the finished launch game; your Skyborne adventure begins in the live service when WoW: Forever launches on November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Check Blizzard’s character-name reservation announcement for the current regional window and any last-minute changes.
Blizzard lists the reservation opening as October 27 at 1:00 p.m. PDT in North America, October 27 at 18:00 CET in Europe, and October 28 at 07:00 local time in Korea and Taiwan. The window runs through November 3. Names are first-come, first-served, and the early period allows no more than three reserved characters in total across every Ruleset, not three per Ruleset.

What do I need to unlock the Skyborne race?
You need the digital Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher WoW: Forever upgrade on the specific WoW game account where you will create and play the character. Blizzard’s new-player guide states: “Skyborne access requires the purchase of the Heroic Pack or higher digital upgrades.” The official starter guide is the definitive source for current access rules.

Buy the upgrade while signed in to the Battle.net account and WoW game account you intend to use. Purchasing on a different account will not make the race available on your playing account. If you own the physical World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition, its Collection digital code also includes Skyborne access, but Blizzard’s announced restock is expected to ship in February 2027. That timing is after launch, so ordering the physical set should not be treated as a way to obtain a code during the current reservation period. Blizzard describes the contents and timing in its upgrade announcement and Collector’s Edition update.
How do I create a Skyborne character in WoW Forever?
Use this sequence for the reservation window and for launch-day character creation. The menu names below follow Blizzard’s published starter-guide flow.
- Prepare the correct Battle.net account. Create or sign in to Battle.net. For launch play, arrange an active WoW subscription or Game Time, and verify that the Heroic Pack or a higher upgrade is attached to the WoW game account you will use.
- Install the correct game version. Open the Battle.net desktop app, select World of Warcraft, open the Game Version menu, choose World of Warcraft: Forever, install it, and select Play. Selecting another WoW version will not show the Forever character-creation flow.
- Choose an experience preset. Blizzard says the first login asks whether you want a Classic or Enhanced experience preset. This is a starting configuration, not a permanent class or faction choice; individual options can be adjusted later.
- Select a Ruleset. The announced launch choices are Normal, PvP, Roleplay, and Roleplay-PvP. Hardcore is planned for a later release and is not one of the launch choices listed in the starter guide.
- Coordinate with your group before confirming. Friends must use the same Ruleset and faction to group together, join the same guild, and run dungeons or raids together. Decide these two settings before creating the character if you plan to play as a fixed group.
- Select Skyborne. In the race panel, choose Skyborne. It is a playable race associated with two factions, not a separate third faction.
- Choose the faction variant. Horde Skyborne are called Windshaper; Alliance Skyborne are called High Order. Your faction determines the faction-exclusive class and active racial ability.
- Pick an allowed class. Select one of the five classes available to the chosen faction. The class lists are detailed below; the character creator will not offer unsupported combinations.
- Customize appearance. Adjust body type, face, hair, colors, and other available options. Blizzard’s published Skyborne overview lists 10 Body Type 1 face options and 21 Body Type 1 hairstyles. Appearance can later be changed at a city barber shop for in-game coin.
- Enter the name combination. Set a main name and a secondary name. Blizzard says the complete combination must be regionally unique, so a name that appears unavailable may become usable only when the full combination differs. Popular names can disappear quickly during reservation.
- Confirm the character. During early reservation, keep the total number of characters at three or fewer across all Rulesets. After confirmation, the name is reserved for that character; reservation does not give access to the level-up content before launch.

Choose based first on the faction your friends use, then on whether you want Shaman or Mage access and which faction racial ability fits your plans. Both variants start at the same level and in the same zone, so there is no starting-level advantage.

Horde cannot create a Skyborne Mage, and Alliance cannot create a Skyborne Shaman. If you are choosing between those two classes, the class decision determines the faction. Otherwise, matching your regular group avoids the restrictions on cross-faction grouping, guilds, dungeons, and raids.
What are the Skyborne racial abilities?
Blizzard’s October 26 development notes, rather than the older race overview, are the most current pre-launch description of the racial values. Treat these as announced development values, not independently tested launch-build results; Blizzard may update them before or at the November 4 release.
- Wind-Blessed (both factions): 2% Haste.
- Horde Skysight: activates a 15% movement-speed increase for 15 seconds. Using it at an elemental convergence grants a one-hour Charged effect with a 30% movement bonus.
- Alliance Read Leyline: activates 50% Health and Mana regeneration for 15 seconds. Using it at a Ley Line grants a one-hour Attuned effect with a 100% regeneration bonus.
Blizzard clarified on October 27 that Charged and Attuned persist through death but end when the character enters a raid. The effects therefore reward planning around exploration and outdoor play, but they should not be treated as permanent raid buffs. Paladin, Priest, and Warlock are not included in Blizzard’s Skyborne class lists. The “five per faction” count is important: there are not six classes on each side. If a class is missing in the creator, check both the faction and Ruleset choices before assuming the purchase failed.
How do Skyborne names and appearance customization work?
The name reservation uses a two-part combination: a main name and a secondary name. Blizzard requires the entire combination to be regionally unique. Because names are first-come, first-served, prepare several alternatives before opening the creator and avoid waiting until launch day if a particular combination matters to you.
Skyborne customization includes the normal character-creation controls plus published race-specific options. Blizzard lists 10 Body Type 1 face options and 21 Body Type 1 hairstyles. These are option counts, not a limit on the total number of appearance controls or a population statistic. You can revise appearance later at a city barber shop for in-game coin.

Where does a new Skyborne start?
At launch, every Skyborne begins on Zephras Isle at level 1 and progresses through the introductory area to level 12. Horde and Alliance do not receive different starting levels, so the faction choice is about class access, racial ability, and social coordination rather than an experience advantage.
During the reservation window you can complete the character setup and hold the name, but you cannot describe that reservation as playing the Zephras Isle campaign early. Wait for the announced launch time and the live-service access tied to your subscription or Game Time.

The early reservation limit is up to three characters total across all Rulesets. For example, two Normal characters and one Roleplay character use the entire allowance; you cannot then add a fourth on PvP. This is a temporary reservation-window limit, not a permanent maximum number of characters for the game.
Because Ruleset and faction affect grouping, reserve the combinations you are most likely to keep with your friends. If your group has not decided between Normal and PvP, or between Horde and Alliance, agree first rather than spending one of the three slots on a placeholder.

What should I do if Skyborne is missing from character creation?
Work through the checks below before contacting support:
- Check the game version. In Battle.net, confirm that the Game Version field says World of Warcraft: Forever, not another WoW product.
- Check the purchase account. Confirm that the Heroic Pack or higher upgrade is attached to the same WoW game account selected in the launcher. A subscription by itself is not enough.
- Restart the launcher and game. Sign out of Battle.net, sign back in, allow the product entitlement to refresh, and relaunch Forever.
- Check the date. Before November 4, reservation access and live play are different. A character may be reservable even though the launch adventure is not yet open.
- Check the class and faction combination. Shaman appears only for Horde Skyborne; Mage appears only for Alliance Skyborne. Paladin, Priest, and Warlock are not supported Skyborne classes.
- Check the reservation count. If three characters already exist across your Rulesets, the early-window limit blocks another reservation.
- Check the name fields. Try a different main/secondary combination if the complete name is already taken in your region.
If all of these conditions are correct and the entitlement still does not appear, use Blizzard’s account and game support channels rather than purchasing a second upgrade immediately.

- Battle.net account and the correct WoW game account selected.
- Heroic Pack or higher digital upgrade purchased for that account.
- Subscription or Game Time arranged for launch access.
- World of Warcraft: Forever selected in Battle.net and installed.
- Friends’ faction and Ruleset confirmed.

- Up to three total reservations counted across all Rulesets.
- Several backup main/secondary name combinations prepared.
- Expectation set correctly: reservation holds a character and name; launch play begins November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST.
What changes after launch?
Recheck Blizzard’s reservation page after November 3 and the launch notes on November 4. The reservation limit, availability, racial values, and other character-creation details can change as the live build replaces the pre-launch version. The announced Hardcore Ruleset is planned for later, so its eventual availability and interaction with Skyborne creation should be confirmed in a future official update rather than assumed from the launch list.

Can I change my Skyborne faction after creating the character?
The supplied launch information does not promise a faction-change option. Choose Horde or Alliance with your group and desired exclusive class before confirming the character, and check Blizzard’s current service documentation if a post-creation change becomes important.
Does reserving a name guarantee I can play immediately?
No. Reservation secures the character and its name during the early window, but the live Skyborne journey opens with the announced November 4 launch. You still need the appropriate account access and subscription or Game Time for launch play.
Can I use the same Skyborne name on different Rulesets?
The complete main-and-secondary combination must be regionally unique, and the reservation system allows up to three characters across Rulesets. If the creator rejects a combination, use another full combination rather than assuming a Ruleset change will make it available.
Where do Skyborne characters level after Zephras Isle?
Blizzard identifies Zephras Isle as the level 1–12 starting area. The supplied launch material does not specify a single mandatory route after level 12, so follow the in-game quest and zone guidance once the live game opens.
