Choose the right recovery route
| Your situation | What to do |

| You can access the email linked to your account | Use PlayStation’s self-service recovery flow and follow the instructions sent to that email. |
| You cannot access the linked email, forgot which email you used, or cannot use a registered passkey device | Use the Online Assistant. PlayStation also directs users there if they cannot access a 2-step verification or password-reset email. |
| Your sign-in ID, online ID, or password changed without your permission | Contact PlayStation through the Online Assistant rather than relying on a routine password reset. |
These routes are identified in PlayStation’s recovery guide. Its contact page directs users to look up their issue and use the relevant online support tools.
Recover access if you can use the linked email
- Open PlayStation Account Management’s sign-in page.
- Select Trouble Signing In? > Recover Your Account.
- Enter the sign-in ID—the email address associated with the account.
- Open the secure link PlayStation sends, provide the requested information, and create a new password. The email may take a few minutes to arrive.
Use the official recovery guide to begin and follow the on-screen prompts.
Contact the Online Assistant if self-service recovery will not work
Go to PlayStation’s official contact page, look up the account issue, and use the Online Assistant or other online tool shown for that issue. This is the route PlayStation specifies when you cannot access your linked email or other recovery method, and when account details were changed without your permission.

Use PlayStation’s official site for your country or region. The reviewed U.S. support pages identify online support tools but do not establish a universal phone number, chat schedule, or response-time guarantee. Avoid third-party “account recovery” contacts; PlayStation warns users not to share account details.
Secure the linked email account
If you received an unexpected notice that your PlayStation account details changed, secure the email account connected to it. PlayStation recommends changing that email account’s password; if you cannot, contact the email provider. See its guidance on security best practices.

Investigate unfamiliar charges separately
Check your PlayStation Store transaction history and subscription settings before treating a payment as unauthorized. A recurring subscription charge or a purchase made by another account using the same payment method may explain it. If the charge remains unexplained, follow PlayStation’s unauthorized-payment and compromised-account guidance and contact support. Refund eligibility is subject to limits and PlayStation’s cancellation policy; a refund is not guaranteed.

After you regain access
- Review your account’s security settings and confirm the sign-in details are yours.
- Use a strong, unique password and keep your credentials private. PlayStation’s rule is direct: “Never share your account details with anyone else.” See its security best practices.
- Review transaction history and subscription settings for activity you do not recognize.
