Connect the TV’s HDMI ARC/eARC port to the TV/eARC input on the KEF LS60 Wireless Primary Speaker, select the TV source on the speakers, enable HDMI-CEC on the TV, and set the TV’s digital-audio output to PCM. If HDMI won’t deliver sound, check the cable and settings, then use a TOSLINK optical cable as a fallback. These steps follow KEF’s documented TV setup and troubleshooting guidance.

How do I connect my TV to the KEF LS60 Wireless?

Use HDMI ARC or eARC as the primary connection. The cable must connect the television’s ARC/eARC socket—not just any HDMI input—to the TV/eARC port on the LS60 Wireless Primary Speaker.

  1. Connect the cable: Run an HDMI cable from the TV’s socket labeled ARC or eARC to the LS60 Primary Speaker’s TV/eARC port. Make sure both ends are fully seated.
  2. Select the TV source: Choose the TV source on the LS60 speakers.
  3. Enable HDMI-CEC: Turn on HDMI-CEC in the television’s settings. TV manufacturers may give this feature a different name; examples include Anynet+ on Samsung TVs and Simplink on LG TVs.
  4. Set digital audio to PCM: In the TV’s sound or digital-audio output settings, choose PCM. Also check the audio setting in the streaming app you are using, if it provides one.
  5. Confirm the connection: Play TV audio and check the Primary Speaker’s status light. Solid light blue indicates TV mode; a pulsing light blue means the speaker is connecting to a TV.

The exact menu names and locations vary by television, so look for settings related to sound output, digital audio, or HDMI-CEC. The key requirements are the TV’s ARC/eARC port, the LS60’s TV/eARC input, a selected TV source, CEC enabled, and PCM output.

Why is there no sound through HDMI ARC/eARC?

Start by checking the port, connection status, and audio format. KEF identifies Dolby Digital as a common default that can result in no sound, so PCM is the first format to try.

Use the status light to narrow down the problem

Primary Speaker light What it indicates What to do
Solid light blue TV mode Check the TV’s output format, volume, mute state, and selected source if audio is still missing.
Pulsing light blue Connecting to a TV; CEC may be established without ARC audio Check that HDMI-CEC is enabled on the TV, then retry the connection.
Blinking light blue The HDMI connection has not been found Confirm the cable is connected to the TV’s ARC/eARC port and the LS60 TV/eARC input, and reseat both ends.

Work through the no-audio checks

  1. Check the source and basic playback: Make sure both speakers are powered and unmuted, the TV source and correct speaker set are selected, and the volume is high enough.
  2. Verify the TV’s HDMI port: The cable needs to be in the television’s ARC/eARC socket. A regular HDMI port may not provide the audio return connection the LS60 expects.
  3. Set the TV audio output to PCM: If the TV is set to Dolby Digital and there is no sound, switch its digital-audio output to PCM.
  4. Check the app’s audio setting: If you are watching through a streaming app, inspect that app’s audio options as well as the TV’s setting. An app’s selected audio output can be relevant even when the TV is configured correctly.
  5. Reseat or replace the HDMI cable: A loose or faulty cable can prevent the connection. Try another HDMI cable if reseating does not help.
  6. Power-cycle the television: Unplug the TV, wait about 10–15 seconds, reconnect power, and try again.
  7. Try optical as a fallback: Connect a TOSLINK optical cable and keep the TV’s digital-audio output set to PCM.
  8. Contact KEF Support: If the checks do not resolve the problem, use the Support option in the KEF Connect App.

Do I need PCM or Dolby Digital?

Choose PCM as the safest documented setting for getting TV audio to the LS60 Wireless. KEF notes that a TV may default to Dolby Digital and that this setting can result in no sound; PCM is also required for the documented optical fallback.

Check the output setting in two places when applicable: the television’s digital-audio settings and the audio options within the streaming app. If audio works from one TV activity but not another, checking the app-specific setting is a useful next step. The guidance here does not establish that every television or app uses identical menu labels, or that PCM has the same label in every interface.

Can I use optical instead of HDMI?

Yes. KEF documents optical as an alternative when HDMI cannot be established. Connect a TOSLINK optical cable from the TV to the LS60 optical input, then set the TV’s digital-audio output to PCM.

Optical is a practical fallback, but HDMI ARC/eARC is KEF’s primary TV connection path. HDMI also uses the TV’s CEC feature for TV control, whereas optical is the alternate audio connection described in KEF’s setup guidance.

Connection Role in KEF’s guidance What to check
HDMI ARC/eARC Preferred TV connection Use the TV’s ARC/eARC socket and the LS60 TV/eARC port; enable HDMI-CEC and check the cable if the connection fails.
TOSLINK optical Fallback if HDMI cannot be established Connect the TV’s optical output to the LS60 optical input and set the TV output to PCM.

If optical produces no sound, first confirm that the TV is outputting PCM. If it is, try another optical cable or return to HDMI troubleshooting.

Why is the TV audio out of sync?

If speech does not match the picture, adjust the television’s video-delay or lip-sync setting. KEF recommends HDMI or optical for TV playback and cautions against Bluetooth because Bluetooth codec processing introduces inherent delay.

Look in the TV’s sound settings for an option that adjusts audio timing relative to video. The exact name and control direction vary by television, so make a small adjustment and check whether synchronization improves. For TV viewing, switching from Bluetooth to HDMI or optical is the relevant connection change in KEF’s guidance.

What should I check if audio cuts out while streaming?

For streaming dropouts rather than a missing HDMI handshake, check the network path. KEF’s suggested measures focus on reducing Wi-Fi congestion and interference or testing a wired connection.

  • Reduce congestion on the Wi-Fi network.
  • Run the speaker connection test in the KEF Connect App.
  • Lower streaming quality and see whether playback stabilizes.
  • Minimize sources of wireless interference.
  • Connect the speakers’ internet port to the router.

These steps address streaming reliability; they are separate from the TV’s HDMI audio format and ARC connection. If the problem is limited to TV sound, return to the HDMI or optical checks rather than treating it as a general streaming dropout.

When should I contact KEF Support?

Use KEF Connect App Support if you have confirmed the correct source and speaker set, checked the TV’s ARC/eARC connection and CEC setting, tried PCM, reseated or replaced the HDMI cable, power-cycled the TV, and tested optical where available. If the failure is specifically with streaming rather than TV audio, run the app’s connection test and try the network adjustments first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does KEF publish a typical HDMI or Bluetooth audio-delay figure for the LS60 Wireless?

KEF’s FAQ and manual do not provide an authoritative numeric latency figure. The guidance identifies Bluetooth as having inherent codec delay, but it does not quantify that delay in milliseconds.

Can I assume every television will call its CEC setting the same thing?

No. HDMI-CEC may appear under a manufacturer-specific name; Anynet+ and Simplink are examples. Check the TV’s own HDMI or external-device settings if you do not see a setting labeled HDMI-CEC.

What should I do if one streaming app has no sound but other TV audio works?

Check the audio output option inside the affected app as well as the television’s digital-audio output. KEF specifically advises checking app-level audio settings when troubleshooting TV sound.
