To confirm your student status for Spotify Premium Student, start the offer from Spotify and complete the eligibility form managed by SheerID. Follow the form’s instructions to verify through your school or submit proof of current enrollment. After SheerID approves you, return to Spotify and apply the offer; verification alone does not start the discounted subscription.
How to verify your student status
- Open Spotify’s Premium Student offer and complete the SheerID form. Your college or university must appear in the form’s school list. Spotify says students whose school is not listed are not eligible for the discount at that time. You do not need to use your student email address for your Spotify account.
- Follow the verification option shown. Depending on the form, you may be asked to sign in to your school’s portal or provide enrollment documents.
- Wait for SheerID’s email. Spotify says the review may take several days.
- Return to Spotify after approval and complete the Premium Student signup or apply the offer to your existing account. The discount will not be applied just because verification succeeded.
What documents Spotify accepts
If SheerID asks you to upload proof, Spotify requires an official document from your college or university that establishes enrollment in the current term. The document must show your first and last name, the institution’s name, and an issue date from the current academic term or within the last three months.

Spotify lists these examples:
- An official enrollment letter; an acceptance letter is not accepted.
- A class schedule for the current term.
- A registration or tuition receipt.
- A transcript showing classes currently in progress.
You can upload more than one document if one file does not show all the required details. Spotify says the upload link is valid for seven days. If it expires, return to the verification page and sign up again to generate another link. SheerID can review up to three documents; if you reach that limit without approval, contact SheerID support.
What to do if verification fails
- Try a private window: Spotify recommends retrying in an incognito or private browser window if fields are being completed incorrectly or verification is failing.
- Contact SheerID about verification: SheerID manages the verification process, including questions about document eligibility. Use its FAQ or support route; responses may take a few days.
- Contact Spotify about your account or billing: Spotify support handles subscription, account, payment, and billing questions.
How to renew Premium Student
Spotify requires students to renew and verify their eligibility every 12 months to keep the discount, for up to four years. Spotify’s US support page says renewal instructions arrive about four weeks before expiration; you can also start renewal from your account page. Check your spam folder if the reminder email does not arrive.

If you do not renew at the 12-month point, the subscription continues at the full price. If the student discount has already expired, start renewal manually from your account page. After SheerID verifies you, return to Spotify and resubscribe to Premium Student so the discount applies to the next payment.

Spotify says students studying abroad can use the discount when their Spotify account country or region matches the country where they study and their payment method was issued there. Available payment options vary by location. Premium Student cannot be paid through mobile billing or through another company, such as a phone or internet provider. If you currently pay that way, cancel and sign up again using an eligible payment method.

Spotify’s US Premium Student page currently says the plan includes Hulu’s With Ads plan at no extra cost. That detail is specific to the US offer; check Spotify’s page for your location for the terms available to you.
