There is no retailer that is consistently cheapest for every Apple product. To find the better offer, compare the same model and configuration, then account for seller, condition, delivered cost, warranty, and any requirements attached to the advertised savings.

Start with the exact Apple product and configuration

A MacBook, iPad, iPhone, or accessory is not a like-for-like comparison just because the product name is similar. Match the generation and model, then check details such as screen size, chip, memory, storage, Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity, and color when relevant. Also make sure both offers include the same accessories.

Compare new with new, certified refurbished with certified refurbished, and open-box with open-box. A lower price for a different storage size, an older generation, or a used device is not a discount on the exact product you want.

Compare the full offer, not just the price shown

Use Apple’s current listing for the matching configuration as a reference point. Apple says prices may change, so record the price and date you checked rather than treating an old screenshot or search result as current. Taxes, promotions, inventory, and terms vary by location; the policy details below are from U.S. pages.

  • Seller and fulfilment: On Amazon and other marketplaces, check whether the retailer itself or a third-party seller is selling the item, and who fulfils it.
  • Condition and coverage: Check whether the product is new, refurbished, or open-box, and review the return terms and warranty that apply to that specific offer.
  • Delivered cost and timing: Include shipping and applicable taxes, and check whether the item is in stock and when it is expected to arrive.
  • Offer requirements: Keep education or membership pricing, payment or financing conditions, carrier activation, trade-in values, rewards, and bill credits separate from the ordinary purchase price. Each may have its own eligibility rules.

A carrier credit paid over time, for example, is not the same as an immediate reduction in the device’s checkout price. Compare what you pay now and what you must do to receive any later credit.

Use price history to judge a claimed sale

A crossed-out price or large percentage-off label does not by itself show that an offer is unusually low. TechRadar recommends comparing a deal with Apple’s official price and checking Amazon price history. Treat that history as context for past pricing, not as proof of value or a prediction of future prices; no universal discount threshold is established by the cited sources. See TechRadar’s guidance on checking Apple deal prices.

Understand price matching before relying on it

Best Buy’s U.S. Price Match Guarantee says it matches current prices from qualified competitors for immediately available new products sold by Best Buy, subject to exclusions. The policy page states an effective date of September 2, 2026, and may be amended. It excludes, among other cases, marketplace listings, refurbished or open-box items, trade-in offers, some paid-membership or loyalty prices, certain special-event offers, and out-of-stock or limited-quantity items. That is not a blanket promise to match every Amazon listing. Check the current policy and confirm that the exact seller, product, availability, and offer qualify before buying. Read Best Buy’s Price Match Guarantee.

Compare trade-in and refurbished offers separately

Apple Trade In

Apple’s trade-in value depends on the device, model, manufacturer, and condition. An estimate can change after Apple receives or inspects the device; an in-store assessment may differ from an online estimate if the condition does not match. Get an estimate for the exact device and describe its condition accurately, then treat the trade-in credit as a separate part of the calculation rather than a lower sticker price. Check Apple Trade In.

Apple certified refurbished

Apple advertises certified refurbished products with a one-year warranty. Inventory and exact terms depend on the product and region. Compare the specific model and configuration, included items, warranty, and condition with any new or third-party refurbished offer; refurbished products are not equivalent to new ones simply because the model name matches. Check Apple’s U.S. price-reduction policy after purchase

For purchases covered by Apple’s U.S. Shopping Help page, if Apple reduces the price of an Apple-branded product within 14 calendar days after you receive it, you may request a refund or credit for the difference within 14 days of the price change. The policy excludes limited-time price reductions and special sales events such as Black Friday, and states a 10-unit limit for a particular product. Apple also reserves the right to change prices and correct inadvertent pricing errors. Confirm the current terms on Apple’s page before relying on them. Read Apple’s U.S. shopping and payment help.

A practical comparison checklist

  1. Write down the complete configuration. Include generation, model, size, chip, memory, storage, connectivity, and any other feature that distinguishes the offer.
  2. Check Apple’s current price. Open Apple’s listing for that exact configuration and note the price and date.
  3. Find matching retailer listings. Search Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, or other retailers for the same configuration; verify seller identity, condition, stock, and fulfilment.
  4. Calculate the purchase cost and terms. Compare tax, shipping, delivery timing, return terms, warranty, and any membership, payment, carrier, or trade-in requirements.
  5. Check the price history if the listing claims a sale. Use it to understand past prices, not as a guarantee that the offer is good or that the price will move a certain way.
  6. Verify any price-match request. Read the retailer’s current rules and confirm the precise listing and offer type are eligible.
  7. Keep conditional savings visible. Record trade-in credits, bill credits, financing, and rewards separately so the standard checkout price remains clear.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
