That shortlist is more useful than ranking tools by how polished a sample image looks. A deck that looks excellent in a browser may need substantial repair after export, while a less dramatic first draft may be easier to maintain as a native, editable file.

Lock the final delivery format before writing prompts. The destination determines which tool can preserve themes, charts, notes, permissions, and element-level editing with the least repair.
Choose native PowerPoint when the deck must survive in Microsoft 365

Gemini is the convenient fit for teams that live in Google Workspace. From the Ask Gemini panel in Google Slides, you can request slide content, refer to a Drive file by using an @ file prompt, insert generated text, retry a response, and inspect the listed Sources. This reduces the friction of moving source material into a separate deck generator.
Google warns that Gemini suggestions may be inaccurate or inappropriate. Treat Drive references as a starting point for verification, not as proof that every sentence or visual is correct.
Choose a web-first deck when speed and sharing outweigh native fidelity
Gamma is designed for a fast, coherent first draft and a shareable web presentation. It can import PDF and PPTX files and export to PDF, PPTX, PNG, and Google Slides. That flexibility is useful when the audience can view a link or when you want to explore a narrative before committing to a final editor.

Gemini in Google Slides: the Drive-aware option
Gemini is a sensible first choice when the working file is already a Google Slides presentation and the evidence sits in Drive. The @ file prompt can point Gemini to a specific document, while Sources gives reviewers a place to inspect what the system used.

Canva makes sense when the same team already uses Canva for templates, illustrations, social assets, and other brand collateral. Shared visual assets can reduce the effort of finding icons, imagery, and layouts for a deck.
Plan for more manual intervention when the presentation requires a tightly argued narrative, complex data slides, or a difficult PowerPoint export. Run a real export test with your own fonts, charts, and template before promising a frictionless PowerPoint workflow.
What should I compare before subscribing?

The export breaks the deck
Open the exported file in the exact destination application, then check fonts, line wraps, object positions, charts, notes, hyperlinks, and page dimensions. If the export is fragile, keep the deck in the web-first environment or switch to a tool designed for the required native format.
A prompt revision changes unrelated slides
