To check a new NVIDIA feature on an RTX 4070 Ti, confirm the exact GPU model, check NVIDIA’s support information for that feature, install any required NVIDIA App and driver updates, then verify that the game or application supports and exposes it. The RTX 4070 Ti is an RTX 40-series Ada Lovelace card, but support is feature-specific: software updates can add capabilities to RTX 40, while some newer features—such as DLSS Multi Frame Generation—are reserved for RTX 50 Series.

Identify the exact graphics card

Start by confirming Windows or NVIDIA App identifies the GPU as a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. Do not assume the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 Ti SUPER are interchangeable; they are distinct models. NVIDIA lists the non-SUPER RTX 4070 Ti with 7,680 CUDA cores and 12 GB of GDDR6X memory on its RTX 4070 family specification page.

You can check the displayed name in Windows Device Manager under Display adapters, or in NVIDIA App’s system information. This confirms which GPU you have; it does not, by itself, determine whether an individual feature works.

Check NVIDIA’s support information feature by feature

Use NVIDIA’s GeForce graphics-card comparison to check the RTX 40 Series column for generation-level support. NVIDIA identifies RTX 40 as Ada Lovelace, with third-generation RT cores and fourth-generation Tensor Cores. The generation table lists DLSS Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction, Super Resolution, DLAA, AV1 encode, and DirectX 12 Ultimate support.

Do not treat a DLSS version label as a guarantee that every DLSS feature is available. Check the specific feature and any software prerequisites in NVIDIA’s current NVIDIA App update information.

DLSS upgrades and overrides

NVIDIA documents DLSS model upgrades and overrides through NVIDIA App for compatible games. Its Frame Generation model upgrade covers RTX 40 and RTX 50 GPUs. That is separate from DLSS Multi Frame Generation Override, which NVIDIA assigns to RTX 50 Series. An RTX 4070 Ti should therefore not be described as supporting Multi Frame Generation just because it supports other DLSS features or can use some DLSS model upgrades.

NVIDIA Smooth Motion

NVIDIA says Smooth Motion is available for all GeForce RTX 40-series GPUs when the new NVIDIA App and Game Ready Driver updates are installed. NVIDIA describes it as “a driver-based AI model that delivers smoother gameplay by inferring an additional frame between two rendered frames, for titles without DLSS Frame Generation support.” It works with compatible DirectX 11, DirectX 12, or Vulkan games; it is not a universal switch for every game.

Check the game or application

GPU eligibility is only one part of compatibility. The game or creative application must implement the feature, and it may need to be enabled in that program’s settings or through NVIDIA App. A feature can be supported by the RTX 4070 Ti generation-wide and still be absent from a particular title.

  • Check the game or application’s compatibility notes and graphics settings for the feature name.
  • Install the NVIDIA App and Game Ready Driver updates specified by NVIDIA for that feature.
  • For DLSS overrides, use NVIDIA App’s Graphics settings and check a compatible title. NVIDIA documents a DLSS statistics view and the Alt+R overlay for checking whether overrides are active in-game.

Enable Smooth Motion in NVIDIA App

  1. Update NVIDIA App and install the required Game Ready Driver updates.
  2. Open NVIDIA App > Graphics > Program settings > Driver Settings.
  3. Select a compatible game and switch on Smooth Motion.
  4. Launch the game and check its own settings or the NVIDIA App overlay to confirm the feature is active.

If Smooth Motion does not appear, verify the game uses a supported API—DirectX 11, DirectX 12, or Vulkan—and is compatible. Also check NVIDIA’s current release notes; menu labels and availability can change with software updates.

If the feature toggle is missing

  • Recheck the model name. Confirm that Windows or NVIDIA App reports an RTX 4070 Ti, rather than a different GPU.
  • Check the feature’s generation requirement. Look for an explicit RTX 40-series listing and distinguish it from an RTX 50-series-only capability.
  • Update the required software. Some features depend on a particular NVIDIA App or driver update.
  • Check the title. Confirm that the specific game or application implements the feature and that you are looking in the correct settings.
  • Verify activation in-game. For DLSS overrides, consult NVIDIA App’s DLSS statistics view or Alt+R overlay. A missing in-game toggle alone does not prove the GPU lacks the underlying capability.
