The Edifier Hecate G2000 Pro has two layers of control. Use the speaker’s G button for immediate changes: hold it for two seconds to toggle the lights, double-press it to change the light effect, and press it once to cycle Music, Gaming, and Movie sound modes. For a 10-band equalizer, virtual 7.1 processing, brightness, color, rotation, reactive lighting, and firmware tools, install HECATE Gaming Center on a Windows 10-or-later PC. This guide maps every button action, explains what each mode does, shows the software setup path, and provides recovery steps when lighting or audio changes interrupt playback.
What do the G2000 Pro buttons control?
The G button is the shortcut for both lighting and sound. The speaker gives you visual confirmation through its indicator colors, so you can make changes without opening a computer application.
| Action | Result | Indicator behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Hold G for 2 seconds | Turns all light effects on or off | Lighting switches state |
| Double-press G | Moves to the next built-in light effect | Effect changes immediately |
| Press G once | Cycles the sound effect mode | Music, Gaming, or Movie indicator pattern appears |
These combinations come from the G2000 PRO user manual. A short tap, a double press, and a two-second hold are different commands; pressing too slowly or holding for the wrong duration can appear to do nothing.
How do I turn the RGB lights on or off?
With the speakers powered on, press and hold the G button for two seconds. The light effects toggle between enabled and disabled, while audio continues through the selected input.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Confirm that the G2000 Pro is switched on.
- Place a finger on the G button rather than the volume controls.
- Hold G continuously for about two seconds, then release.
- Check the side and rear lighting to confirm the new state.
This command is an on/off toggle, not a brightness control. If the lights are too bright rather than unwanted, leave them enabled and use HECATE Gaming Center to set brightness on a supported Windows PC.
How do I change the built-in RGB effect?
Double-press G to switch to the next lighting effect. Repeat the double press to move through the speaker’s built-in effects; the manual does not assign names or a fixed count to every effect, so the available sequence can depend on the installed firmware.
- Make sure the lighting is enabled.
- Press and release G twice in quick succession.
- Wait for the new pattern to appear before trying another double press.
Hardware cycling is intentionally simple: it selects effects but does not expose individual color, speed, rotation, or brightness values. Those controls are available through the Windows application described below.

How do I change the G2000 Pro sound mode?
Press G once to cycle the speaker’s sound effects. The three documented modes are Music, Gaming, and Movie, and each has a different indicator pattern.
| Mode | Indicator | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Music | Purple indicator blinks | General music and balanced listening |
| Gaming | Red indicator blinks | Games where positional cues and impact matter |
| Movie | Rows of blue indicators blink intermittently | Films and television with a wider presentation |
Each press advances to the next mode, so continue tapping until the indicator identifies the mode you want. These are preset processing profiles, not independent left/right volume controls or a graphic equalizer.

How do I install HECATE Gaming Center?
HECATE Gaming Center is the deeper control panel for the G2000 Pro. The manufacturer’s download location is www.hecategaming.com; the manual specifies Windows 10 or later.
- Connect the speakers to the Windows computer you will use for configuration. USB audio is the most direct choice when you want the application to manage the computer’s playback device.
- Open www.hecategaming.com and download the G2000 PRO software package.
- Open the downloaded installer and run
setup.exe. - Follow the installation prompts, accepting any Windows permission request required to install the driver or application components.
- Launch HECATE Gaming Center after installation and select the connected G2000 Pro.
- Make one change at a time, apply it, and play a short audio sample before making another change.
Application labels and available controls can change with software and firmware revisions. The manufacturer describes the application as working with the speaker’s DSP and virtual 7.1 surround experience, while independent reviews have reported additional controls such as a 10-band equalizer, reactive RGB, and firmware updating.
What can I customize in the software?
Software control is more granular than the G button. The following capabilities have been described for HECATE Gaming Center, although exact labels and availability are version-dependent.
| Area | Software options | How it differs from the buttons |
|---|---|---|
| Lighting | Dynamic modes, brightness, rotation, color, and reactive effects | Choose values instead of stepping through presets |
| Equalization | Reported 10-band EQ | Shape frequency bands rather than selecting one preset |
| Sound processing | Virtual 7.1, Dynamic Bass, Audio Brilliant, Smart Volume, and Voice Clarity have been reported | Enables individual processing features where the installed version exposes them |
| Headphone processing | Headphone 7.1 surround has been reported | Applies surround processing to the headphone output rather than the physical speaker pair |
| Maintenance | Firmware updates have been reported | Keeps device software current; update only with stable power and USB connection |
Start with a flat EQ and the desired hardware sound mode, then make small software adjustments. Stacking a strong bass boost on top of a bass-heavy preset can reduce clarity or cause audible distortion at high volume.
Is virtual 7.1 the same as having seven speakers?
No. The G2000 Pro is a two-speaker system; virtual 7.1 is DSP processing that changes timing, frequency balance, and spatial cues to imitate a wider multichannel field. It can make game or film effects seem more enveloping, but it does not create seven discrete physical speaker channels.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
The software may also expose a separate headphone 7.1 option. Treat that as a headphone-processing profile and compare it with stereo using the same game or movie scene; some listeners prefer the positional effect, while others hear an artificial or less precise center image.
Which connection should I use while changing settings?
The G2000 Pro accepts Bluetooth, USB-C/USB-A, and 3.5 mm input, and the manual documents USB audio streaming, AUX, Bluetooth pairing, and a headphone output. Confirm the active input before troubleshooting because a setting change in Windows cannot alter audio that is arriving from a different source.
| Connection | Useful when | Check if audio is missing |
|---|---|---|
| USB-C/USB-A | Computer playback, software configuration, and firmware work | Select the G2000 Pro as the Windows output device and verify the USB cable carries data |
| 3.5 mm AUX | Analog sources such as a console, monitor, or phone adapter | Set the source to its analog output and select AUX on the speaker |
| Bluetooth | Wireless playback from a phone, tablet, or computer | Confirm the G2000 Pro is the connected Bluetooth output and that no other device has taken the connection |
| Headphone output | Private listening | Insert the plug fully and check whether the source or speaker mutes the main drivers automatically |
The current HECATE product specification lists 16 W + 16 W RMS total output, a rated response of 75 Hz–20 kHz, and a 15 V⎓4 A input. These are manufacturer specifications for the current product listing, not a measurement of your room’s perceived loudness or bass extension.
How do I disable prompt tones?
Hold the power and + buttons together for two seconds. This toggles the speaker’s prompt tones, which are the confirmation sounds made for certain operations. Repeat the same combination to restore them.
Because the command uses two buttons at once, press them simultaneously and keep both held for the full two seconds. It does not change the music, Gaming, or Movie processing profile.

How do I factory-reset the G2000 Pro?
Use the reset only when normal controls or pairing recovery have failed. While the speakers are on, hold G and the power button together for five seconds.
- Stop playback and save any work in the connected application.
- Verify that the speakers are powered on.
- Press and hold G plus power for five seconds.
- Release both buttons and allow the speakers to restart or return to their default state.
- Reconnect Bluetooth or reselect the USB output if your source no longer sees the speakers.
The manual documents the combination but does not enumerate every setting it clears. Treat a reset as a recovery action: note your preferred EQ and lighting choices first so you can recreate them afterward.
What should I do if lighting changes interrupt audio?
A Tom’s Hardware reviewer observed that changing lighting in the application could briefly disrupt Spotify playback. That behavior is not the button command itself and may depend on the software or firmware version, USB state, and the active playback device.
- Save work before applying a lighting profile or firmware change.
- Pause Spotify or another player, apply the lighting change, and resume playback.
- Check that Windows still lists the G2000 Pro as the output device.
- If the application reports that the device is unavailable, unplug and reconnect the USB cable, then relaunch HECATE Gaming Center.
- For Bluetooth or AUX playback, make lighting changes with the source volume lowered and verify that the correct input remains selected.
If the lights do not respond to the buttons, release and retry using the exact press timing, then confirm that the speakers are on. If sound is missing after a mode change, test a short clip on the active input before resetting the unit.

How can I build a reliable gaming or movie profile?
Make the input and baseline stable before adjusting sound. This avoids mistaking a Bluetooth reconnection or Windows output switch for an EQ problem.
- Choose USB, AUX, or Bluetooth and confirm that audio is playing through the G2000 Pro.
- Select the closest hardware preset with the G button: Gaming for games, Movie for films, or Music for general listening.
- In HECATE Gaming Center, leave the EQ flat and disable extra processing temporarily.
- Adjust one feature, such as Voice Clarity or Dynamic Bass, and listen to a familiar clip.
- Set lighting brightness and color after audio is stable; save or note the values if your software version provides profiles.
- Test the profile at your normal listening level and again at a lower level, where excessive bass or surround processing can be easier to detect.
For competitive games, compare virtual surround with stereo using the same map or training scene. For films, compare Movie mode with a modest surround setting and keep dialogue intelligible before increasing bass or width.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does HECATE Gaming Center support macOS?
The G2000 PRO manual specifies Windows 10 or later for the software. It does not state that a macOS version is available, so Mac users should rely on the speaker’s hardware buttons and the operating system’s standard Bluetooth, USB, or AUX controls unless Edifier publishes separate Mac support.
Will a factory reset erase my Bluetooth devices?
The manual gives the five-second G-plus-power reset procedure but does not list every item it removes. Assume saved pairing and custom processing may need to be set up again, and keep your preferred settings written down before resetting.
Why does reactive lighting not appear in my software?
Reactive effects have been reported for HECATE Gaming Center, but feature visibility depends on the installed application and firmware. Update the software from the manufacturer’s site, reconnect the speaker by USB, and check that the G2000 Pro—not another HECATE device—is selected.
Can I use the EQ while connected over Bluetooth?
The equalizer and DSP controls run on the computer application, while Bluetooth carries the audio stream wirelessly. Connect the speaker to the computer running HECATE Gaming Center, select the G2000 Pro as its output, and verify the effect with a short clip; the application’s exact behavior can vary by version.
