To change headset audio on a PS5, open Settings > Sound. How do I change headset volume?
Open Settings > Sound > Volume and adjust Headphones. The same volume control is available from the control-center Sound panel. If you are using the controller speaker instead of a headset, adjust Controller Speakers in this menu.
What is sidetone volume?
Sidetone Volume feeds a small amount of your own microphone signal back into the headset so you can judge how loudly you are speaking. Set it to a comfortable level when the option is available. Sony notes that sidetone is not supported by every headset, so the control may be absent or unavailable.
How do I make my PS5 use my headset microphone?

Why can’t my friends hear me on PS5?

After changing the input device, run a brief party-chat test. If the meter never moves with a known-good microphone selected, disconnect other USB audio devices and reconnect only the microphone you intend to use.

How do I balance game sound and game chat?
Use the PS5 control center for software routing and volume, or use the headset’s chat/game mixer when the headset provides one. The two methods change relative levels rather than replacing the selected input device.
Using the PS5 control center
- Press the PS button and select Sound.
- Confirm the headset is the active output device.
- Adjust the available game, chat, or overall headphone controls to make voices easier to hear without eliminating game audio.

Using PULSE 3D hardware controls

What if I use TV speakers instead of headphones?
For TV speakers, use Settings > Sound > 3D Audio (TV). The PS5 can measure room acoustics through the controller microphone. How do I fix headset echo on PS5?
Lower the microphone input level slightly. Sony’s troubleshooting guidance recommends opening Settings > Sound > Microphone > Adjust Microphone Level and moving the microphone fader two to four notches to the left when friends hear an echo.
- Open Settings > Sound > Microphone.
- Select Adjust Microphone Level.
