Open an invalid Apple Music web address such as music.apple.com/404 in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or another browser—not in the Apple Music app. Interact with the wheel until the menu, song, Settings screen, or hidden Brick game is visible, then use your device’s screenshot command. On a Mac, Shift-Command-5 captures the whole screen, a window, or a selected area. On iPhone or iPad, use the hardware-button shortcut. A PDF is possible with the browser’s or iOS screenshot editor’s Full Page option, but a normal image or screen recording usually represents this interactive viewport more faithfully.
The page is a 404 experience that says “Page Not Found” and invites you to “Give this a spin instead.” It is a web easter egg, so Apple can change the invalid path, song list, or implementation without notice.
Where is Apple Music’s hidden iPod?
The hidden first-generation iPod recreation appears on an Apple Music website 404 page. It is not a screen inside the Apple Music app. Reports published on October 23, 2026 described the experience as a web-browser promotion, and the exact routing may change.
Start with https://music.apple.com/404. If that path later stops working, try another deliberately nonexistent path on the same Apple Music web domain. Do not assume that a link opening the Music app means the easter egg is unavailable; the important distinction is loading the URL in a browser.

How do I open the interactive iPod in a browser?
- Copy the URL. If tapping a link launches the Music app, copy the address instead of following it.
- Open Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or another browser. Paste the address into the browser’s address bar and load it there.
- Wait for the 404 page to finish rendering. You should see the “Page Not Found” message and the invitation to spin the virtual iPod.
- Keep the browser window large enough for the controls. A narrow window can make the wheel or menus harder to operate and can change the layout you capture.
The page can be temporary. Apple may redirect the path, remove the easter egg, or serve a different 404 design by region. A browser that shows an ordinary error page is not necessarily broken; the experience may simply no longer be routed to that path.
What can I do with the virtual wheel?
The wheel and center button are interactive. The reported menus include Playlists, Artists, Songs, and Settings, with short song previews available from the music entries.
Using a Mac trackpad or mouse
Click and drag around the wheel to move through the interface. Click the center button to select an item. Pause after each movement so the highlighted row and animation settle before you capture it.

Using a desktop keyboard
Reports describe using the arrow keys to move through entries and Enter to select one. If the keys do nothing, click the page once to give the browser focus, then try again. Browser extensions, page translation, or an accessibility utility can also intercept keys.
Using an iPhone or iPad
Use touch gestures directly on the browser page. Drag around the wheel and tap the center button or a highlighted item. Rotate the device only before choosing the final state; changing orientation can reflow the page and invalidate a carefully framed capture.
Finding the hidden Brick game
Open Settings, choose About, and hold the virtual center button for several seconds. Reports describe a Breakout-style Brick game appearing after that long press. The game is an interactive state, so a screen recording is often more informative than a single still image.

One report counted 1,029 songs in the U.S. version on October 23, 2026. Treat that as a time- and region-specific observation, not a permanent catalog size; the list can differ by country and can change when Apple updates the page.
How do I capture the iPod on a Mac?
Use the built-in Screenshot utility. It does not require a separate app and lets you choose between a cropped iPod, the browser window, or the entire display.
- Arrange the browser page in the exact state you want to preserve. Close unrelated tabs, move the pointer away from the wheel, and hide any browser sidebars.
- Press Shift-Command-5. The Screenshot controls appear along the bottom of the display.
- Choose one of the still-image modes: Capture Entire Screen, Capture Selected Window, or Capture Selected Portion.
- For a clean iPod-only image, choose Capture Selected Portion and drag a rectangle around the virtual player. For documentation that proves it was on Apple’s site, choose Capture Selected Window instead.
- Click Capture. A thumbnail may appear briefly; click it if you need to mark up or crop the image, or let it save automatically.
The Screenshot controls also include screen recording. Select Record Entire Screen or Record Selected Portion, then operate the wheel while recording. Stop from the menu bar when the menu transition, preview, or game sequence is complete.
Choosing the right Mac framing
- Selected portion: best when the deliverable is a compact image of the iPod itself.
- Selected window: preserves the browser chrome and Apple Music URL as context.
- Entire screen: useful for a tutorial showing the surrounding desktop, but it exposes more unrelated information.
- Screen recording: best for wheel movement, menu transitions, song previews, and Brick gameplay.
How do I screenshot it on an iPhone or iPad?
With the page open in a browser, press the device’s normal hardware-button screenshot combination. The exact buttons vary by model, but the workflow is the same: take the screenshot, tap the thumbnail, then edit or save it.
- Position the iPod state you want and wait for animations to stop.
- Press the device screenshot buttons together.
- Tap the thumbnail that appears in the corner before it disappears.
- Crop or mark up the image if needed.
- Choose Save to Photos or Save to Files, depending on where you need the finished file.
For a browser-context image, leave the address bar visible. For a presentation graphic, crop tightly around the virtual iPod. If a software keyboard or browser controls cover the wheel, dismiss them before capturing.

Can I save the hidden iPod as a PDF?
Yes, when your browser or device offers a full-page screenshot export. A PDF is useful as a page-length record, but it may not preserve the interactive canvas in a meaningful way. The virtual iPod is designed as a viewport with changing states; a still image records one state, while a recording records motion.

Full-page PDF on iPhone or iPad
- Take a screenshot of the webpage.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail to open the editor.
- Select Full Page at the top of the editor, when that option is available.
- Review the page preview, then tap Done.
- Choose Save PDF to Files, select a folder, and save.
The Full Page control is intended for webpages, documents, and email that extend beyond the visible screen. An interactive 404 canvas may export as a static frame, a mostly empty page, or a layout different from what you saw. Open the saved PDF and inspect every page before sharing it.
PDF from a Mac browser
Use the browser’s print or save-to-PDF command if you need a document from the page. Because the page is an interactive experience, print output can omit the canvas, controls, or dynamically drawn content. A Mac screen capture followed by placing the image in a document is more predictable when visual fidelity matters.
Should I use a screenshot, PDF, or recording?

For a single image in an article, choose a selected-area screenshot. For proof of the web context, capture the browser window. For a demonstration, record only the browser area needed and trim the clip afterward.

- State: verify that the intended menu, song, About screen, or game is highlighted.
- Pointer: move the pointer away from the wheel and any text you want readable.
- Browser context: decide whether the URL and browser frame are evidence or visual clutter.
- Scale: enlarge the browser page if labels are too small, but check that the wheel still fits in the capture.
- Motion: wait for a preview or animation to finish if you need a stable frame.
- Privacy: close unrelated tabs and hide notifications before capturing the whole screen.
- Durability: keep the original file because Apple can remove or redesign the 404 page.
Why does the link open the Music app instead of the iPod?
The link is being handled as an Apple Music deep link by the operating system. The interactive easter egg is a website experience, so the fix is to copy the address and paste it into a browser rather than tapping it in an app or another application that redirects music links.
- Press and hold the link, then choose the option to copy its address.
- Open Safari or another browser manually.
- Paste the copied address into the browser address field and load it.
- If the browser still redirects, type an invalid Apple Music web path directly, such as music.apple.com/404.
If the browser shows a normal Apple Music 404 page, the path may have changed or the promotion may not be available in your region. Try another nonexistent path on the web domain, but do not expect every path or country to expose the same experience.
What can prevent a clean capture?
The page is blank
Reload once and wait for scripts and fonts to finish. Disable a content blocker for the page only if it is preventing the canvas from loading, then restore your normal blocking settings afterward. A blank result can also mean Apple has retired the easter egg or is serving a different regional 404.

The wheel does not respond
Click the page to give it focus, then try dragging or the arrow keys again. On mobile, use a deliberate drag rather than a quick scroll. Browser zoom, translation tools, extensions, and touch-assist features can interfere with pointer events.

Choose a selected portion on Mac or crop the thumbnail on iPhone and iPad. If the URL is needed as evidence, use a separate browser-window capture instead of trying to include both context and a tight product crop in one image.
The PDF is empty or missing the iPod
Interactive content may not be included by the print or Full Page exporter. Confirm the PDF by opening it after saving. If it is incomplete, use a normal screenshot for the visible state or a recording for interaction, and retain the PDF only as a supplementary page record.
The song list differs from another screenshot
Song availability and counts can vary by region and page revision. The reported U.S. count of 1,029 songs was specific to October 23, 2026; it is not a guarantee for another country or a later visit.
