To pause for a fixed amount of time before a Puppeteer screenshot, await a JavaScript timer immediately before calling page.screenshot():

await page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png' });The delay is in milliseconds, so 2000 means two seconds. Puppeteer’s screenshot options do not provide a delay setting; put the wait in your script. If you need the page to reach a particular state rather than simply wait out a set time, wait for a selector or a custom readiness condition instead.
Pause for a fixed duration
Place an awaited timer after navigation and directly before the screenshot call. This complete example opens a page, waits two seconds, then saves the capture:

})();Change 2000 to the required number of milliseconds: for example, 500 is half a second and 5000 is five seconds. Awaiting both the timer and page.screenshot() ensures the script does not move on before the pause and capture finish. Puppeteer’s Page.screenshot() API returns a promise.

Wait for the page state you actually need
A timer measures elapsed time; it does not prove that a page has finished rendering, that a network request has completed, or that an animation has stopped. If the screenshot depends on a known signal, wait for that signal instead of guessing at a duration.
Wait for a selector to appear
await page.waitForSelector('#content-ready');
await page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png' });Use { visible: true } when the element must not merely exist in the DOM but also be visible:

await page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png' });Puppeteer’s waitForSelector() API returns immediately if the selector already exists. With visible: true, the element must be present and not hidden by display: none or visibility: hidden.

Wait for an application-specific condition
If your app exposes a readiness flag, use waitForFunction() to wait until it becomes truthy:

Wait for navigation and network settling
Puppeteer’s screenshot guide demonstrates waiting for navigation with waitUntil: 'networkidle2' before capture:

It is not proof that all app-specific rendering, delayed content, or animations are complete. Choose the shortest wait condition that reliably represents the state you want to capture. How to choose a wait

Timeouts and screenshot settings
Selector and other applicable waits can fail if their condition is not met before the timeout. Puppeteer documents a 30-second default for waitForSelector(); applicable WaitTimeoutOptions also document a 30,000-millisecond default. Setting timeout: 0 disables the timeout, so use it only when an indefinite wait is acceptable. See waitForSelector() and WaitTimeoutOptions.

Troubleshooting
The screenshot is still blank or incomplete
A fixed delay may be too short, or the page may need a different readiness signal. Prefer a selector that appears when the required content is ready or a custom condition that checks app state. Increasing a timer can help only when the problem is genuinely that more elapsed time is needed.
The script proceeds before the wait or screenshot finishes
Make sure both operations are awaited: use await new Promise(resolve => setTimeout(resolve, milliseconds)) and await page.screenshot(...). Without await, subsequent work can proceed before the promise settles.
A selector wait times out
Check that the selector matches the page’s actual DOM and that the target state can occur. If it is inserted later, the wait must run on the relevant page after navigation. Increase the timeout only if the condition is correct but legitimately takes longer; setting timeout: 0 disables the limit rather than fixing an incorrect selector.
