As of October 30, 2026, The Game Awards fan ballot is not open. When the nominees are announced in mid-November, vote through TheGameAwards.com after signing in. Regular awards, including Game of the Year, use a 90% jury and 10% public blend. Players’ Voice is the separate award decided entirely by fans through three elimination rounds.
The 2026 public-voting deadline is Wednesday, December 9, at 6 p.m. PT, one day before the ceremony on December 10. The exact 2026 Players’ Voice round times and the login-provider list have not yet been published, so treat last year’s button labels and dates as a guide rather than a promise.
What does “fan-choice” mean at The Game Awards?
There are two public voting tracks, and they do not have the same power. Fans contribute 10% of the result in the regular award categories, while Players’ Voice is a 100% public award.

That distinction answers the common question “Can I vote for Game of the Year?” Yes. Your Game of the Year selection contributes to the public 10% of that blended result, but fans do not solely determine the winner. Players’ Voice is the category to use when you want a winner chosen entirely by public ballots.

When does 2026 Game Awards voting open and close?
The 2026 nominees are listed as “coming mid-November,” with no exact announcement day posted. Fan winner voting closes Wednesday, December 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. PT. Because the ballot is closed now, the site’s /vote address currently resolves to the homepage rather than an active form.

The Players’ Voice brackets page still shows the previous cycle as closed. Its standing template lists December 1, December 4 and December 8 for the three rounds, but those are the 2025 pattern, not confirmed 2026 dates. Do not wait for those exact days before checking the live ballot.
How do I vote on TheGameAwards.com?
You need an internet connection, a supported sign-in account and the nominee list. No purchase, game code or ticket is required. The following is the last documented public flow from 2025; the wording and number of categories may change when the 2026 ballot opens.

- Authenticate your account. The 2025 ballot accepted connected services such as X/Twitter, Facebook and Google. The 2026 provider list has not been republished, so use whichever options the live page presents.
- Choose a category. Work through the regular awards, including Game of the Year. In 2025 the interface covered 29 categories; the 2026 total is not confirmed.
- Select one nominee. Click the nominee’s vote control. The 2025 interface changed the control to “Vote Placed” after accepting a selection.
- Continue through the ballot. Repeat for each category you want to answer. A regular-category ballot is one choice per category, not a ranked list.
- Check the live page for confirmation. The 2025 flow allowed voters to switch a selection before the ceremony, according to secondary coverage. The 2026 rules do not promise editing, so only rely on an edit or change control if it is visibly provided.
Signing in makes this authenticated viewer voting rather than an anonymous click poll. If the site sends you back to the homepage, shows a closed ballot or has no nominee controls, voting has not opened or the window has ended.
How does the Players’ Voice vote work?
Players’ Voice is a separate, entirely fan-decided bracket. You vote more than once across three rounds, with the field shrinking each time. The official brackets page is at http://bit.ly/tgaplayers.

The 2026 FAQ has not posted opening or closing timestamps for these rounds. The bracket may therefore require a separate visit for each stage, and a selection in one round does not substitute for a ballot in the next. In the completed 2025 cycle, Hollow Knight: Silksong by Team Cherry was shown as the winner; that result and its nominee slate do not identify the 2026 nominees.
Does my vote count in a 90/10 Game Awards category?
It counts as part of the public 10% of the final result. A ballot cannot by itself override the jury’s 90%, but in a close race the public share can change the combined outcome. There is no published current number showing how many fan votes are needed to swing a particular category.

A pure public vote could put a single-platform game at a disadvantage against a game released on several platforms, and a result could be “socially engineered” through coordinated online activity. The organizers say the blended method is intended to balance broad player input with an international professional jury.
Who nominates the games and calculates the jury share?
Most categories draw nominees from an international jury of more than 100 media and influencer outlets. Each outlet submits one confidential, unranked ballot listing its top five choices in each category; the ballot represents the outlet’s collective editorial staff, not one individual writer. The five games appearing on the most ballots become nominees. A tie can produce six or more nominees.
Specialized juries handle esports, accessibility and best adaptation. Geoff Keighley, the show’s producer, is not a jury member and does not vote on nominees or winners. The advisory board also has no role in the awards process and learns results with the public.

An October 18, 2026 compilation of the official jury list counted 17 main-jury outlets from the United States, 17 from the United Kingdom and 14 from Brazil. Those counts describe outlets on the jury list, not a weighting system; the published process does not assign extra votes by country.
What games are eligible for the 2026 awards?
The two eligibility cutoffs matter when deciding whether a late release or update can appear on the ballot.
- Main categories: a game must be commercially available on or before November 20, 2026, at 9 p.m. PT.
- Players’ Voice: the game must ship on or before November 30, 2026, giving that public category a later cutoff.
- Live-service titles: an older game can return to consideration when new content, improvements or service updates merit recognition. Best Ongoing Game exists specifically for continuing titles.
- Early Access: a publicly available Early Access game can be eligible; the jury decides whether its state warrants a nomination.
- DLC, expansions, seasons, remakes and remasters: these can be considered in all categories when the jury finds the new creative or technical work worthy.
Publishers may send review copies or codes to voting outlets, but there is no entry fee and no submission form for developers to buy their way onto the ballot. The organizers state that no developer or publisher should have to pay for consideration.
Can people in China vote?
The official FAQ directs fans in China to Bilibili for winner voting, while the global ballot is on TheGameAwards.com. That wording specifically addresses winner voting; it does not confirm that the 2026 Players’ Voice bracket will also run on Bilibili. Check the live Chinese-language instructions when the ballot opens rather than assuming both tracks use the same page.
Why is the 2026 vote closed right now?
The nominees have not been announced yet, and the public voting window is scheduled later in the calendar. A closed page is not evidence that your account failed or that a category was removed. The official homepage currently advertises the mid-November nominee timing, and the Players’ Voice shortlink retains the prior cycle’s “Voting Closed” state until the next bracket is published.

- If you see no “Vote Now” button, return after the nominee announcement.
- If a regular category is missing, verify that the 2026 ballot has fully launched; the final category count is not yet known.
- If a login provider you used in 2025 is absent, use another option shown on the 2026 page; the provider list has not been announced in advance.
- If you are trying to vote after December 9 at 6 p.m. PT, the winner ballot has closed even though the ceremony has not started.
- If you are looking for Players’ Voice, open its separate bracket page and check the active round rather than the regular-category page.
How big is the fan vote?
The Game Awards reported more than 123 million authenticated viewer votes in the 2025 cycle, including Players’ Voice, an increase of more than 10% from 2024. That is a participation total across the event’s voting systems, not a count of votes for one nominee and not a forecast for 2026.
The same December 2025 report recorded 171 million global livestreams of the full broadcast, up 11% from 154 million in 2024. It reported 4.4 million peak concurrent viewers across Twitch, YouTube and other Western platforms, nearly 1.4 million peak concurrent viewers on the 4K YouTube feed, and more than 2.4 million on YouTube when co-streams were included. More than 8,600 YouTube channels and 16,500 Twitch co-streamers carried the show. X posts about the event reached 1.79 million or more between December 10 and 12, 2025, with over 60 million video views.
For historical context, the official full-show livestream totals were 154 million in 2024, 118 million in 2023, 103 million in 2022, 85 million in 2021, 83 million in 2020, 45.2 million in 2019, 26.2 million in 2018, 11.5 million in 2017, 3.8 million in 2016, 2.3 million in 2015 and 1.9 million in 2014. No independent 2026 vote total exists while the ballot is closed.

No. The ceremony is free to watch on major streaming services on December 10, 2026. The opening act is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT. A limited AXS ticket sale is for in-person attendance, not ballot access.

What should I do on voting day?
Set a reminder for the nominee announcement, then use this checklist when the ballot is live:
- Confirm that you are on the official TheGameAwards.com domain or the published Players’ Voice bracket.
- Sign in before selecting nominees so your choices can be recorded as authenticated votes.
- Read each category name carefully; the public share is separate from the jury’s share.
- Return for every Players’ Voice round instead of assuming the first round is the final ballot.
- Finish regular-category voting before Wednesday, December 9, at 6 p.m. PT.
- Save the official confirmation state shown by the page, such as the 2025 “Vote Placed” label, but do not assume that exact wording will remain in 2026.
There is no need to buy a game, subscribe to a service, attend the theater or submit a developer entry in order to vote. Your useful action is simply to authenticate, select the nominees you support and meet the applicable deadline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can a Game Awards category have more than five nominees?
The jury normally advances the five games that appear on the most outlet ballots. If two or more games tie for the final position, the tie is not broken by a private extra vote; all tied games can remain nominees, creating six or more entries.

The eligibility cutoff determines whether a release or update may be considered for nomination. The later voting deadline is when the public must submit its winner selections, so a game can qualify first and still wait for the nominee announcement before anyone can vote.
Will my 2025 sign-in automatically carry into the 2026 ballot?
The organizers have not said whether account sessions or the same provider buttons will carry over. Expect to authenticate through one of the options displayed on the live 2026 page, even if you used a connected account in the previous cycle.
Can I vote simply by watching the ceremony or a co-stream?
No. Viewing contributes to audience numbers but does not create a ballot entry. Voting requires opening the official ballot, signing in and submitting a category or Players’ Voice selection before its window closes.
