How long should you wait after verifying your channel?
For computer streaming, YouTube’s published guidance reviewed here does not promise a specific delay after phone verification. Phone verification makes live streaming available as an intermediate feature, but the channel’s current eligibility status is the useful check—not a general countdown. YouTube’s feature-access guidance identifies live streaming among intermediate features.
The often-quoted wait of up to 24 hours is specific: YouTube says a channel’s first mobile live stream may take that long to start after the feature is enabled. It is not a guaranteed activation time for computer streaming, nor an India-specific timeframe. YouTube’s mobile live-streaming guidance gives that estimate.
Requirements that can affect access
Computer live streaming
- The channel must be verified.
- The channel must have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- Live streaming must appear as enabled in Feature eligibility.
YouTube summarizes the first two requirements in its live-streaming tips: “To live stream, you must have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and have a verified channel.”

Mobile live streaming
Mobile has additional conditions beyond channel verification and feature activation. YouTube requires at least 50 subscribers, a compatible mobile device, and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its up-to-24-hour estimate concerns the first mobile stream. YouTube also says audience limitations may apply to channels below 1,000 subscribers; after a channel reaches 1,000, it may take a few weeks for some mobile audience limits to be removed. These mobile-specific conditions do not define computer-streaming eligibility.
Check your channel’s status in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio with the channel you want to stream from.
- Open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Review the status for intermediate features and live streaming. Phone verification unlocks intermediate features, including live streaming; advanced-feature access is a separate level.
- If live streaming is not enabled, follow the verification or eligibility prompts shown for that channel, then check the status again.
YouTube’s feature eligibility instructions explain the status categories and verification steps. For channels based in India, YouTube says the “phone verified” label is visible to people in India on computer, mobile, and the YouTube app; it does not give a separate India-only activation wait. What to do if you still can’t go live
Phone verification is incomplete
YouTube sends a verification code by text or automated voice call. If the text does not arrive after a few minutes, try the voice-call option or another supported number or operator. A phone number can be linked to no more than two channels per year, according to YouTube’s phone-verification guidance.

Feature eligibility does not show live streaming
Confirm that you are checking the correct channel and that phone verification is complete. Then check whether the channel has a live-streaming restriction within the last 90 days. If the status remains unavailable, follow the notice in Studio; the published guidance does not establish a universal computer-stream activation delay that can be used to predict when it will change.

Advanced-feature access is distinct from the intermediate-feature access that includes live streaming. YouTube describes ID or video verification and channel history as ways to qualify for advanced features. ID/video review usually takes 24 hours, but that review time is not the ordinary computer live-stream activation wait. Check Feature eligibility to see which level is pending.
You are trying from a phone
Check the mobile subscriber threshold, device eligibility, and restriction status as well as the feature setting. If this is the channel’s first mobile stream after enabling the feature, allow up to 24 hours before treating the delay as a fault; YouTube does not state that this estimate applies to computer streaming.

India-specific note
For an India-based channel, the phone-verified label is shown to viewers in India, across computer, mobile, and the YouTube app. YouTube ties that label to India’s IT Rules, 2021. The official India guidance does not specify a different live-stream activation timeframe, so the same distinction applies: check Feature eligibility, and treat the up-to-24-hour figure as mobile-first-stream guidance only.
