Trustworthy enterprise AI is not just a better language model. In an interview with The Daily Context, Kepler CEO Vinoo Ganesh argues that high-stakes systems need a surrounding layer of preprocessing, structured facts, deterministic tools, provenance records, conflict handling and workflow integration. The model can reason about how to solve a problem, while software designed for lookup, calculation or graph traversal performs the operation. That design is intended to keep unsupported numbers out of answers and make the evidence behind a result inspectable. Ganesh’s account explains an architecture and a product philosophy; it is not an independent accuracy test or proof that errors are eliminated.
What does Vinoo Ganesh mean by “AI you can trust”?
Ganesh’s definition is an infrastructure approach: use AI where probabilistic reasoning is useful, use deterministic software where exact operations matter, preserve evidence for each result, and place the system inside the tools people already use. He summarizes the principle this way: “to really trust an AI system, you can’t just use AI by itself. You need infrastructure around it.”
That distinction matters most in finance and other settings where a wrong value can alter an investment decision, a regulatory filing or an executive report. Ganesh says the failure is not simply that models are imperfect; it is that organizations often ask generative models to perform tasks that require exact retrieval, arithmetic or identity matching. His warning is direct: “The challenges come in when people use AI in ways it shouldn’t be used, like deterministic work, or work where accuracy is materially important.”

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Task selection: the system decides which parts are suitable for a language model and which require deterministic code.
- Structured facts: documents are converted into identifiable facts rather than left as an undifferentiated text collection.
- Traceability: each fact and operation retains source and transformation information.
- Uncertainty handling: unresolved facts and disagreements are exposed instead of silently guessed.
- Workflow integration: the result appears in an auditable application rather than only as free-form chat text.
These are Ganesh’s descriptions of Kepler’s design goals. The interview does not report an independent benchmark, measured error rate or comparison proving that the approach outperforms other systems.
Who is Vinoo Ganesh, and what is Kepler?
Vinoo Ganesh is introduced as Kepler’s CEO. He describes Kepler as an enterprise AI company beginning with finance, an industry in which information fidelity and accuracy are especially consequential. His background, as given in the interview, includes seven years at Palantir, building and selling an alternative-data company, and work at Citadel.
Kepler is presented as a business system rather than a consumer chatbot. Its stated purpose is to help organizations use changing AI models without making the model itself responsible for every extraction, calculation and decision-support step. Ganesh frames that as a response to a rapidly changing model market; he characterizes new models as appearing roughly once a day, but the interview supplies no measurement period or external study for that figure.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →He also discusses a future in which people may use AI deeply and daily in as many as “95% of cases.” That is an aspiration or framing in the conversation, not a measured adoption statistic. The practical point is that broad use would increase the need for controls around models, not remove it.
How is Kepler’s trust architecture supposed to work?
Kepler’s described pipeline separates preparation, reasoning and execution. Large preprocessing jobs turn source documents into structured facts; the model reasons about which facts or operations are needed; deterministic components retrieve, calculate or traverse relationships; and the application presents the result with its supporting trail.
Preprocessing turns documents into facts
Ganesh says the platform extracts items such as numbers, entities, people, places and things before a user asks a question. A number can carry metadata describing its scale or unit, while an entity can be associated with relationships to other entities. This preparation is intended to reduce the ambiguity that comes from asking a model to infer everything directly from long passages at answer time.
Identifiers make facts addressable
Each fact receives an identifier that a tool can retrieve. Instead of composing a financial value from learned patterns, the model requests a specific fact through that lookup layer. The identifier also provides a handle for recording where the value came from and how it was used later.

Deterministic tools perform exact operations
Calculations, retrieval and structured graph operations are assigned to systems that return a defined result for a defined input. Ganesh contrasts this with a language model’s generative behavior: “LLMs are really good at thinking through how to solve things, but they’re not necessarily as good at doing the solving themselves.” In his framing, the model proposes a route through the information, while software executes the route.
Provenance follows the result
The platform is described as retaining provenance for both data and operations. That includes the original source of a fact and transformations such as addition or multiplication. A user reviewing a result could therefore inspect not only the input document, but also the chain of operations that produced the displayed value.
Uncertainty is represented rather than hidden
If a fact cannot be resolved to an identifier, Ganesh says the system rejects it instead of allowing the model to state it. His formulation is: “So right now, if the model can’t resolve its output against the lookup, it rejects it. It can’t actually state that fact.” When two sources disagree, the intended behavior is to show a conflict and identify the competing records, not silently choose one.
How does Kepler handle financial numbers?
Ganesh’s number-handling approach is designed to prevent a language model from freely inventing or recombining values. Documents are first processed into numeric facts with identifiers, units or scale metadata and source records. A later request retrieves those facts through deterministic tools, while the system preserves any arithmetic applied to them.

Example: retrieving a reported figure
- Extract: the preprocessing layer identifies a number in a filing, transcript or other document.
- Annotate: metadata records the number’s unit or scale and its relationship to the relevant company, period or metric.
- Identify: the fact receives an identifier that a retrieval tool can target.
- Resolve: the model’s requested output must map to an available fact before it can be stated.
- Calculate: if a derived value is needed, deterministic arithmetic performs the operation and records it.
- Display: the application shows the result with the source and transformation trail available for review.
Example: conflicting sources
Ganesh gives the case of an earnings-call statement that differs from a filing. Under the described design, those records remain separate and the discrepancy is surfaced as a conflict. The system is not supposed to erase the disagreement by selecting whichever sentence appears more plausible to the model.
What “the model never writes a number” does and does not mean
The phrase should be understood narrowly. It describes a mechanism in which a generated numerical claim must be resolved through a lookup before the application accepts it; it does not mean that every component is non-generative or that using a particular model automatically prevents hallucinations. The interview does not publish error-rate data showing how often extraction, entity matching or source selection succeeds.
Why does Kepler use an ontology?
Ganesh describes an ontology as a relationship-oriented representation that helps the system recognize what entities are and how they connect. It gives the model structured tools for entity resolution and knowledge-graph operations, rather than asking it to rely solely on textual similarity.

Resolving aliases and names
A simple example is treating “Palantir” and “PLTR” as references to the same company. More difficult cases include misspellings or names distorted by transcription. The ontology provides relationships and identifiers that a deterministic resolver can use to test whether two mentions refer to one entity.
Separating reasoning from graph traversal
The model can reason that a question requires finding a company, following its relationship to a segment and then retrieving a metric for a period. A graph or lookup service performs those operations against structured records. This division lets the model plan without making it the authority for every identity decision.
Why this matters in finance
Financial datasets contain tickers, legal names, subsidiaries, funds, people and overlapping reporting periods. A text-only answer can blur those distinctions. An ontology makes them explicit enough for software to check, while still allowing a model to interpret the user’s natural-language request.
How does Claude deliver the “last mile” in Kepler’s description?
Ganesh says Kepler integrates with Claude so that the model can help coordinate a task while the user receives a rendered application with auditability. The result is described as an interface that exposes the structured work and its evidence, rather than ordinary model-authored numerical prose.
This integration does not establish that Claude itself guarantees correct outputs. The control is the surrounding lookup, provenance and rendering mechanism. If an output cannot be tied to a resolvable fact, the described system rejects it; if records disagree, the interface can present the disagreement for a human decision.

The interview’s conceptual comparison is about who performs an operation and how the evidence survives. It is not a product benchmark, and no success rates are supplied.
| Dimension | Generative-model approach | Kepler’s described approach |
|---|---|---|
| Who performs the operation? | The model may retrieve, calculate or compose an answer in generated text. | The model reasons about the route; deterministic tools perform retrieval, arithmetic or graph traversal. |
| How is evidence retained? | Evidence may appear as prose or citations without a fact-level operation trail. | Facts have identifiers, source metadata and records of transformations, according to Ganesh. |
| How is uncertainty handled? | The system may select a plausible answer when records are incomplete or inconsistent. | Unresolved facts are rejected and source conflicts are intended to be surfaced. |
| How does the answer reach the user? | Usually as free-form generated text. | As a rendered, integrated application with traceability in the Claude workflow described by Ganesh. |
These cells describe the design distinction Ganesh makes; they should not be read as measured outcomes for either category.

Does this interview prove that Kepler is accurate?
No. The source is a vendor-side interview and does not report an independent benchmark, external validation, quantified error rate or controlled comparison. It explains why Kepler’s architecture is intended to improve reliability, but intention and mechanism are not the same as demonstrated performance.
A serious evaluation would need to specify the document types, languages, reporting periods, entity-matching cases, conflict rates and acceptable error thresholds. It would also need to test extraction, unit normalization, arithmetic, provenance completeness and rejection behavior on a representative dataset. None of those measurements appears in the interview.
What should an enterprise learn from Ganesh’s approach?
The transferable lesson is to design an AI workflow around the risk of each operation. A model may be appropriate for interpreting a question, proposing a plan or summarizing context. Exact values, identities, calculations and approvals should have explicit system controls.
- Classify tasks: mark each step as generative, deterministic or human-approved.
- Define a source of truth: identify which filings, databases or internal records can supply each fact.
- Attach metadata: preserve units, scale, period, entity and document location with every numeric value.
- Make operations inspectable: record additions, multiplications, filters and joins used to derive a result.
- Fail visibly: show unresolved facts and conflicting sources instead of forcing a single answer.
- Integrate with work: deliver outputs where reviewers can inspect evidence and take the next action.
- Measure before deployment: test on realistic cases and publish error categories, not only demonstrations.
This checklist follows the principles in Ganesh’s explanation without assuming that Kepler or any other system automatically satisfies them in every deployment.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What are the main limitations and open questions?
Structured preprocessing can introduce its own errors. If a document is misread, a unit is normalized incorrectly or two entities are linked improperly, deterministic retrieval may reproduce the wrong structured fact with a convincing audit trail. Provenance shows what the system did; it does not by itself prove that the original extraction was correct.
Conflict handling also requires policy. Two sources may disagree because they cover different periods, definitions or revisions rather than because one is simply wrong. Surfacing the conflict is safer than hiding it, but a finance team still needs rules for interpreting, escalating and resolving the difference.

Where can you read the full interview?
The complete conversation, titled “Kepler’s Vinoo Ganesh on Building AI You Can Trust,” is published by The Daily Context on DEV Community: read the interview. The page displays an October 12 date, but the publication year is not clear from the retrieved text.
Read it as an explanation of Kepler’s product architecture and Ganesh’s trust thesis. It is useful for understanding the proposed separation between model reasoning and deterministic execution, while independent testing would still be required to establish real-world accuracy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Kepler intended for consumers or businesses?
Ganesh presents Kepler as enterprise infrastructure, beginning with finance and other accuracy-sensitive work. The interview does not describe a consumer subscription, personal plan or retail purchasing option.
What happens when two financial documents report different numbers?
The described system keeps the records distinct and is supposed to expose the disagreement as a conflict. A reviewer can then investigate definitions, periods or revisions instead of receiving one silently selected value.
Can a provenance trail guarantee that an AI answer is correct?
No. Provenance can show the source and transformations used, which makes review easier, but it cannot guarantee that extraction, entity matching or the source document itself was error-free.
What would an independent test of this kind of AI need to measure?
It would need representative documents and cases covering extraction, units, entity aliases, arithmetic, conflicting sources and rejection of unresolved facts. Results should include error categories and reproducible conditions rather than relying only on demonstrations.
